Xander's POV
I heard the door unlock as I whipped up some spicy ramen in the kitchen.
"I'm back," Sophia said as she got in and shut the door. I closed the lid of the pot and came out from the kitchen to see her.
"Damn, looks like someone took a shower in the rain," I mocked with a chuckle.
"Not funny, Xan," she said as she marched into her room, with squishy footsteps that made me laugh even more. In a few minutes, she was out after probably having taken a hot bath.
"So how was your first day?" I asked as I went into the kitchen to turn off the stove.
"Terrible," she replied, "I mean, who knew that lectures would be even more boring than high school classes?" she asked rhetorically.
"Welcome to my world," I said as I served two bowls of steaming hot ramen on the table. "And, hey, FYI, it just gets worse," I added.
"Well, it isn't all bad. At least I get to meet Methis everyday just like back in high school," she quipped.
"Methis? That's the hot girl from the freshman party last night. Wait, you know her?" I asked in surprise, dropping my chopsticks.
"Yeah, we've been besties since like forever," she replied.
"Oh really?", I asked as I pondered silently on how to get closer to her. "Say Sophia, would you mind giving me...."
"Her number?" she interjected.
"Wow, you really got some clairvoyant abilities," I commented, "Soooo... ?" I asked.
"Not a chance," she replied pausing temporarily as she slurped on her ramen.
"Oh come on. What's the big idea?" I asked with a pleading face.
"I ain't letting a playboy like you anywhere near her", she said, "you're no good for her. In fact, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you're literally poisonous to her," she added.
"Ouch," I said calmly, "but regardless, I think I like her. You won't ruin such a potentially beautiful relationship, will you?" I urged, trying my best to sound convincing.
"Not buying it," she said, "you're just gonna use her and leave. I can't let her get hurt because of you and that's final," she insisted.
"You know what? Fine. I'll leave her alone," I said as if resigning to defeat.
"Much better," she said, now dropping the chopsticks into her already empty bowl. Then she stood up and went to her room. I wasn't going to give up that easily, that's for sure. I had an idea!
White Witch POV
I was fed up. I was particularly tired of the Alpha being so furious all the time. His hatred and rage were clouding his judgment. It was almost as if all he could think of was getting revenge on the Dark Witch. If he keeps this up, he'll plunge the entire wolf clan into chaos, I thought as I walked out of the palace, dressed in a big black hooded garment. It was chilly outside the castle walls. There was a raging blizzard, but I couldn't stay any longer with the Alpha in his current condition. And around these parts, blizzards could last up to a week at a stretch, so waiting it out wasn't an option.
"Brrrr!" I exclaimed as my body shivered terribly in the cold. "I can do this! I can do this! I can do this!" I repeatedly muttered to myself. Then mustering all the energy I had, I chanted with both my hands lifted to the dark sky, rumbling with thunder as I chanted, "Magna nix et grando magna, sit mihi frigus tuum sicut calidum radii solis.”
A little golden orb emerged from the dark sky and descended towards me until it hovered over my head. It was very hot and its radiation gave me warmth. Now with warmth around me, I instantly began my journey to the outback of the wolf realm, to which the Dark Witch had been banished. These sorts of journeys were notoriously perilous and full of hazards. In fact, the more hazardous the journey became, the closer you were to the Dark Witch. In a matter of two days, I had reached the outback. It was devoid of almost everything, no animals, no wolves, no grass, just a vast dark desert of snow.
Where could she be? I wondered and then decided to trace her Mana. I pulled out my wand and swirled it about a little, and it became a bit heavier once it was swirled towards the right.
"She's that away," I said and began walking in whatever direction the wand seemed to gain a little more weight. Mana is a bit like the supernatural analogue of mass and just like any two masses must gravitate towards each other, Mana is similarly attracted to Mana.
Following the leading of the wand, I wounded up at the entrance of a cave which glowed with a sought of emerald hue from the inside. It really stood out from the monochromatic background of the rest of the outback. She's got to be here, I thought and walked into the cave, dismissing my golden orb with a snap of my fingers. I looked around and the cave was lined up with glowing jewels embedded in the walls. I was actually mesmerized by the sight and took a sample of the jewel and suddenly....
"What are you doing here?" a voice resonated through the cave, echoing repeatedly even after the voice had ceased. I could easily recognize that voice. "It's her," I said with a smirk on my face.
"Oh nothing," my voice echoed, "I just thought I should pay a visit to my dear old Aunt. Ain't nothing wrong with that, right?" I asked tauntingly. She laughed sinisterly in response.
"You're quite the adventurous one." Her voice pervaded the serenity of the cave, "I don't see Jamal here to protect you, so I'd strictly advise that you watch your words," she said.
"The me from now is a notch or two different from the last time we met," I said.
"Hmmm. Cocky. But I'm afraid it'll take a lot more than a notch or two to stand a chance against me," she said just before I heard a warping sound behind me. I didn't turn around. I was already well aware that she would appear right behind me.
"Oh hello," she said placing her hands on my shoulders. "You look quite delicious tonight," she whispered in my ear from behind as her forked tongue licked my ear as though relishing the taste. "You're not responding anymore," she said. "What happened? Scared? Cat got your tongue?" she mocked and let out a loud burst of sinister laughter as my body turned to stone. "Huh?" she paused and stirred, retracting her hands from my shoulders. "What in the..."
"Surprised, huh?" I responded from behind her, with my hands on her shoulders. "Relax," I whispered in her ears and then kissed her on the neck. Realizing the immediate reverse Deja Vu, she turned around quickly and I sprang backwards and she forward, so that we looked each other in the eye. She was glaring at me. Her hatred for me was quite evident on her face.
"You dare to mock me, child?" she asked and then launched an attack at me, firing a compressed mana blast at me from the head of her staff. With my quick reflexes, I quickly dodged and then shook my head in disappointment.
"I guess you're getting too old to fight too," I said. "You might have been able to cover up your aging looks, but there's still no cure for senility," I said with a smirk etched on my face.
"Urrghh! How dare you?" she asked firing multiple Mana attacks at me, "you will now learn the price of your insolence," she threatened, as she increased the intensity of each shot. The shots hit the cave walls, blasting huge holes through them as I dodged all the attacks.
At this rate, I'm never gonna have a chance to strike her, I thought. Since she was trying her best to launch long-range attacks, I decided to close the gap between us. I ran towards her like a ninja, evading the multiple Mana attacks as I approached her. Then I pulled out my wand and stretched it into a sword. The gap being closed, I gave her no room to fire any more shots, swinging my sword at her at a rate that couldn't keep up with due to her senile reflexes. Not fast enough to dodge, she blocked my attacks with a withered old staff. I heard a crack as attacks became more vicious, driving her into a corner. A smirk appeared on my face, as I could already predict the outcome of this fight. Her face betrayed her fear as she heard her staff crack. "This is it, Aunt." I said and then struck her with all the force I could muster. She blocked again and this time, her staff shattered. And I stood over her victorious, my sword pointed at her as fear and surprise painted her expression.
