The Alpha’s mate

The Alpha’s mate
“Don’t try to make any surprising moves,” The guard who was ordered to take me to the whore house warned while grabbing my wrist and started to drag me out of the Alpha’s office. “Who told you that am gonna do it”, I hissed out. I had chains all over my hands but I was hissing out.

“She smells, goodness”, One of the men who were walking behind us murmured. “And whose fault is it?, bastard”, I snapped at him.

“Watch your language, bitch”, The bastard out of the blue pulled my hair from behind and a scream escaped out of my mouth.

“Good that you have reached in this house, that’s the way you gonna start screaming beneath us”, The one who had his grip on my wrist said with a smirk on his face.

I didn’t respond, I just had my eyes on the house.

The furnishing was reddish brown and everything was open. There were two girls seated on the sofa’s, a drink in their hands while a robe was around their bodies. Upon hearing us, they turned and instantly peered at me.

“Who’s she?” One of the ladies asked.

“The Alpha’s mate”, The guard i’mmediately responded. He was probably eavesdropping.

The lady raised an eyebrow, a smirk curling on her lips. “Alpha’s mate, huh?” she muttered, her tone laced with disbelief. “What’s she doing here, then?”

“The Alpha has made his decision. She’ll be staying here for a while.” The guard’s grip loosened.

I stood motionless, glaring at him, though my insides were seething. I had been dragged here against my will, humiliated in front of strangers, but I wasn’t going to show any sign of weakness. The girl who had spoken earlier eyed me up and down, a spark of curiosity in her gaze.

“You don’t look like you belong here, you a rogue,” She remarked. “What’s your name?”

I stayed silent, my heart pounding in my chest as I fought to keep my composure. The idea of staying here, in this place, made my skin crawl. But I wasn’t about to let these people see me break.

“What’s your name, how did you end up here?”, The lady asked again.

“Does it matter?” I finally replied, my voice colder than I intended. “I’m not here by choice.”

The guard who had been holding me dragged me further into the house. “Just keep moving,” he growled. “You’ll be fine once you get used to it.”

The girls didn’t seem to react to the harshness of his words, their eyes flickered to one another. One of them stood up, brushing her long hair from her shoulders. “Well, make yourself comfortable,” she said, her tone more sympathetic now. “No one’s going to hurt you… unless you make things difficult.”

I narrowed my eyes at her. “You expect me to just accept this?”

“People get used to things,” she replied with a shrug. “Eventually.” She walked over to one of the rooms, leaving me with the guards.

As the door slammed shut behind her, I felt a surge of desperation rise inside me. I had to find a way out. There was no way I could stay here, no way I would let this place break me.

The air in the room felt thick with tension as I stood there, my back straight, my eyes hard. The guards who flanked me watched closely, clearly enjoying my discomfort, as if they took some perverse pleasure in seeing me fight against the inevitable.

One of the guards stepped closer, his voice low and mocking. “Don’t think you can get away so easily. Alpha’s orders are not to be defied.”

I clenched my fists at my sides, my chains rattling faintly as I did. “I don’t care about your Alpha,” I spat, glaring at him. “I’m not here to entertain anyone.”

The guard chuckled darkly, stepping away, as if my words were nothing more than a brief distraction. “You’ll learn soon enough,” he said cryptically, before turning to the other man and muttering something I couldn’t quite hear.

The room fell into a strange, uncomfortable silence, the only sound being the soft shuffle of footsteps from the other side of the house. The lady who had spoken earlier returned, her expression unreadable, though there was something almost pitying in her gaze now.

“We’ll give you some time to settle in,” she said, almost too sweetly. “Don’t worry, it’s not as bad as you think. The girls here, they’re used to it. You’ll get used to it too.”

I wanted to scream, to throw something, to fight back, but there was nothing to fight against. I was surrounded by people who had accepted this life, this fate. They had no idea what it felt like to be dragged from everything you knew, forced into a life you didn’t choose.

I forced myself to breathe, to calm my racing thoughts.

The lady tilted her head slightly. “Don’t be too hard on yourself,” she continued, her tone soft but with an edge of finality. “You’ll need strength here. Strength to survive, strength to be seen. And perhaps, you’ll learn to make the best of it.”

I stood still, feeling trapped in a web I didn’t ask to be caught in.

“Do what you have to,” I said, my voice steady despite the storm in my chest. “But I’m not staying here for long.”

She seemed to take my words in stride, offering a small smile, as if she had heard it all before. “We all say that when we first arrive.”

“I’m going to come for you early in the morning to do the pack chores”, She added then, turned and walked out of the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts and the oppressive weight of my chains.

The door clicked shut behind her, and I was left alone, surrounded by the oppressive stillness of the room. My mind raced, each thought coming faster than I could process. There had to be a way out.

The guards were still close by, lurking in the shadows like predators waiting for their moment. One of them had started pacing, the soft scrape of his boots against the wooden floor echoing in the silence. I ignored him, trying to steady my breathing, to think clearly.

I wasn’t stupid. I knew I had no power here, no authority. But I wasn’t completely helpless. My eyes scanned the room, looking for anything that could be used to my advantage. The walls were bare except for a few dimly lit sconces, and the window was too high for me to reach. But there were other ways—ways to bide my time and wait for the right moment.
