Chapter 129
Oscar came back because I reached out. A quiet message, nothing more.
Seeing Oscar, Vivian and Benjamin quickly stood up with smiles on their faces.
I stepped forward to introduce them: "This is my fiancé, Oscar." Then I said to Oscar, "This is Vivian, who I mentioned to you before, and this is Mr. White."
Oscar hurried over with a smile to greet them.
He then turned to look at Vivian: "I've seen you from afar before, but I never had the chance to properly meet you. Ralph's face lights up with pride whenever he mentions you. Indeed, he has every reason to be proud."
Vivian quickly smiled and said: "I don't dare say much in front of you. My dad says each new generation outperforms the last, and you're really outstanding."
Benjamin laughed: "So we need to keep pushing ourselves, or the younger generation will really surpass us."
Oscar quickly smiled and said: "That definitely won't happen. Although this is my first time meeting Mr. White, I've heard about you for a long time. Your entertainment company is doing really well, and in international trade, you're way ahead of other companies. Now I remember - don't you have business dealings with Martin Collins? I think I heard him mention it before."
Benjamin responded with a smile: "Ms. Collins and I are old friends, we do have some business together. Do you know him, Mr. Lopez?"
Oscar walked over and gestured for them to sit back down, smiling: "Not just know him - Martin and I actually became friends through a conflict. We used to have some partnerships, but later our development directions diverged, so we cooperate less now. But the relationship is still good. If you ever go to Solstice, we could all have a drink together."
Benjamin nodded in agreement: "Definitely. Let's exchange contact information later, so we can help each other out if needed."
Oscar then looked at Vivian with a playful smile: "I heard you're still single. Seeing you suddenly reminds me of someone - he's also been single for years. How about meeting him sometime?"
Vivian laughed: "Did my dad send you? These days, being single is so much more free and easy. You'd have to be crazy to get married."
I pretended to be curious: "Oscar, who are you talking about? Someone as outstanding as Vivian can't just be matched with anyone."
"My business partner Adrian - you've met him. He should be around Vivian's age, he's a great guy. Getting to know him, even just as a friend, would be nice, right Vivian?" Oscar looked very sincere.
Vivian's smile froze for a second, but she quickly waved it off and leaned closer to me, lowering her voice: "Being single is so free and easy. I haven't made any plans yet."
Oscar said with some regret: "That's really a shame. My friend here - being handsome is his least impressive quality. More importantly, he's especially popular with women. I was thinking we could all have dinner together."
Vivian quickly declined, saying they'd stayed too long, and stood up to leave.
Benjamin seemed somewhat reluctant to leave just yet, but seeing Vivian stand up, he could only go along with it.
After seeing them off, Oscar's smile quickly faded: "What did they come here for?"
I shrugged: "Obviously, they had different goals. Vivian was just here to fish for information. I can now be certain that Adrian, Vivian, and Benjamin are all in this together. They came today to find out how much we actually know, or rather, what we're planning to do next."
Oscar nodded: "No wonder Adrian extended his visa. But... Benjamin and Vivian don't need to be afraid of us because of this, so there must be another reason?"
I analyzed carefully: "Right, Benjamin has underworld backing, and Vivian has a father who's a bureau director. Together, they're basically untouchable. So does their visit mean Adrian has some leverage over them?"
Oscar said: "Maybe you're right. If Adrian is Alan, what do you think he's most worried about?"
I thought for a while, then shook my head helplessly: "I really can't guess. We don't even know why he has a conflict with the Lopez family. Now that Mr. Robert Lopez is in a coma, we probably can't find out anything. Who else do you think we could ask?"
"William, Grace, even my dad - any of them could have been involved."
I raised my eyebrows, remembering someone: "What about Gregory? Could he know something..."
Oscar immediately cut me off: "Stop. You're not allowed to meet him privately, especially not alone."
I looked at him helplessly with a smile: "You're being too petty, as if I could really do anything."
"He's already lost his mind. Don't meet him privately."
Oscar stood up and affectionately stroked my hair: "I'm going to cook for you. Is there anything you want to eat today?"
I smiled at him with mock annoyance: "I'm not some delicate weak woman. Just a few days ago I beat Jasper so badly he couldn't move. Gregory can't do anything to me."
Oscar pressed me down to sit on the sofa: "Still not allowed. Even if you just look at him one more time, he'll think you've fallen in love with him."
I couldn't help but laugh: "You seem to understand this pretty well. So do you think I've fallen in love with you?"
Oscar suddenly crouched down halfway, his whole face rapidly enlarging before my eyes, making my heart skip a beat.
He pressed his forehead against mine, nose touching nose, his breath falling on my face as he spoke: "I'm different from you. Just one smile from you and I fell in love with you. So from now on, you can only smile at me, not at any other man. Not even pretending is allowed."
"You're too petty." My face couldn't help but flush as I avoided his overly intense gaze.
Oscar's slender fingers gently pinched my chin, and he quickly pecked my lips: "Vixen."
