The Case of the Ex

The Case of the Ex
“Don’t remind me,” Reggie huffed in annoyance. Reggie would much rather have his girlfriend’s thighs warming his ears, but she was such a slave driver when it came to working. Reggie would’ve hired her as a general manager at one of his other dealerships if she weren't hellbent on becoming an interior designer.
Reggie chuckled as he recalled the first time Arianna visited one of his dealerships with him. Reggie watched in amusement as she began to point out things that Reggie might want to consider changing to increase profitability, including catering to students since they were in a college town. She suggested that those who could provide proof of enrollment receive delayed payments if they finance in-house. Reggie followed Arianna’s suggestion the following month. Sales climbed 30% the next month, and the majority of the purchasers were college students taking advantage of their special promotion. Reggie questioned how she could be so business-savvy, but she distracted him and avoided the question.
“When did you get into town?”
“Late last night. I grabbed a hotel room close to the airport.”
“I wish you had come to the house.”
“You were already asleep, and I knew you had a long day.”
“Did you get a ticket on my flight?”
“No, Dallas let me use the jet. You need to cancel your ticket.”
“Not only do you live in their saferoom rent-free, but you have jet privileges, too? Wow. Maybe I should let them adopt me,” Reggie playfully teased, earning a pinch from his lover.
“Taking care of Xaya is enough. She started walking last week.”
“Na uh. Like walking, walking?”
“Like, I heard a noise outside of the saferoom, and it was her, walking.”
“Shit. How the hell did she get all the way down there?”
“Apparently, Jynelle fell asleep while they were in Xaya’s playroom down there.”
“I bet Dallas threw a hissy fit.”
“You have no idea. I took Xaya and told them I would keep her overnight. There’s something I wish to discuss with you before we head out to the lot.”
“What’s up?”
“We’ve been together for almost a year, and I feel comfortable taking the next step with you.”
“You’re transferring schools?”
“What? Boy, no. It’s the middle of the semester. I’m trying to tell you that I’m ready to...you know...”
“Wait...really?” Reggie asked.
Arianna told Reggie she was a virgin the first night he spent the night, and he was perfectly fine with waiting until she was ready. In fact, Reggie made sure the ball was always in her court. Reggie insisted Arianna make the first move whenever they engaged in sexual acts outside of kissing. The first time he went down on her, he woke up to find her straddling his chest in his t-shirt and no panties on with a glass of water in her hand. He asked her what the water was for, and she explained he had to rinse his mouth out before going down on her. She didn’t want him to brush his teeth because she didn’t like the minty feeling on her lady parts. What surprised Reggie the most was that she was eager to return the favor, and while she may have been a virgin, Reggie quickly realized it wasn’t her first time giving head.
“Really,” Arianna reaffirmed.
“You’re just trying to throw me off my game today,” Reggie accused. The couple had a running bet that Arianna couldn’t sell more cars than Reggie during a shift. If she succeeded, Reggie would take her shoe and handbag shopping. Arianna came close once, but Reggie managed to pull a last-minute sale out of his ass.
“True, but real talk, I am ready.”
“Okay.”
“Okay? That’s it?”
“How was I supposed to respond? Shout and do a backflip?” Reggie laughed.
“I mean...”
The couple was interrupted by a polite knock on the door.
“Reggie, we need some help on the lot.”
“Coming!”
“Let’s go, Ava. We have cars to sell.”

“That’s two today,” Arianna bragged to Reggie as he strolled towards her.
“I guess we’re neck and neck,” Reggie haughtily replied. “The next one with a sale wins.”
“I can picture my new pair of thigh-high boots right now,” Arianna squealed.
“Pipe down, Pipsqueak. We have fresh blood on the lot.”
Arianna chuckled and entered the building to grab a cup of water.
“Let’s go make this money,” Arianna whispered to herself.
She exited the building and attempted to locate the potential customer. Arianna made it down an aisle of SUVs when her eyes locked with Patrick’s. Arianna’s mouth gaped at Pierce, who was distracted by the sticker price on a Suburban.
Arianna did the most reasonable thing she could think of and crouched down between the cars and crawled away. Unfortunately, she ran into her boyfriend.
“Ava? What the hell are you doing down there?”
“I-I dropped my earring,” Arianna lied as she continued to crawl. Arianna crawled towards another row of cars a few rows down, and Pierce was peering in the window of a truck.
“Fuck,” Arianna whispered before rolling to the next aisle.
“Pierce! I think this might be good for you!” Patrick shouted from a couple of aisles away.
“I’ll be right there, Pat! I’m just gonna look on the next aisle, and I’ll double back.”
“Shit!” Arianna panicked as she rolled underneath a truck on the next aisle. She felt like she was messing around with a dude and his baby mama came home, and she had to hide under the bed to avoid being discovered.
Arianna let out a breath of relief when Pierce walked back to Patrick; however, her breath caught again once she noticed Reggie staring at her on his hands and knees. The look on his face was anything but understanding.
“Um...I think I need a new pair of earrings,” she commented weakly.
“Uh-huh. Wait here for three minutes while I distract them. Go to my office and don’t leave. Then we’ll have a long talk about your sketchy behavior and who those men are to you.”
