Harry and Arianna - Chapter 6 - Innocent Kisses

Harry and Arianna - Chapter 6 - Innocent Kisses
"You'll be fine," Arianna repeated to herself in her bathroom mirror. It was the first day of school, and she was sweating bullets. She had changed her shirt twice because of sweat stains, finally settling on a black shirt that wouldn't show how nervous she was.

She scooped up her backpack, slung it over her shoulder, and nervously made her way downstairs. She decided to stop by Harry's office to let him know that she was heading out.

Harry was finalizing the plans for his next hit when he heard a timid knock on the door.

"Come in."

"Um...is this a bad time?" Arianna questioned.

"No. Why would you say that?"

"You're cleaning a gun. If you're planning on offing yourself, please leave me everything in your will. If this is a murder-suicide, please give me a ten-second head start."

Harry chuckled. "Ten seconds? Is that really all you need?"

"Hey, with ten seconds, I'll Wesley Snipe out your office window and be starting my ignition in eight seconds."

"You'll make a great interior designer. Your imagination is the most active I've ever seen. Speaking of...shouldn't you be running along to school? You don't want to be late for your first day."

"Right...um..."

"Spit it out, Rose. I'm a very busy man."

"Right...um...I am having first-day jitters."

"Okay?"

"And...and I would feel better if you accompanied me."

"No," Harry answered firmly.

"What?" Arianna whispered.

"I will not accompany you on your first day of college. You're an adult, not going to kindergarten. Plus, wasn't it you who said I was behaving like an overbearing dad?"

"Asshole!" Arianna spat before whirling around, slamming the door behind.

"Have a great first day!" Harry shouted.

"Cheer up, Rose," Harry whispered to himself as he took photos of Arianna from a distance. He wouldn't miss her first day of college for the world, but he didn't want to be seen as her dad either. Harry thought long and hard about his conversation with Arianna and didn't know how to proceed with her. It's not as if Arianna was with him because she genuinely wanted to be. She was only with him because he was the lesser of two evils.

"Maybe I should let her leave," Harry contemplated. Arianna hadn't expressed being unhappy with him, but could he ever trust her if she said she developed feelings for him? Would her feelings be genuine, or would she be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome?

Arianna made it safely into her building, and Harry settled his attention on his target. He peered into the scope of his sniper rifle and adjusted the sight until his crosshairs landed on his target's forehead.

"Sorry, Dean Bechnam, but you sexually assaulted the wrong person's daughter," Harry stated before squeezing the trigger. "Bulls-eye," he chuckled. "That was the easiest $100,000 I've ever made."

Harry quickly packed up his gear and left the rooftop. He would stop at a jewelry store to pick up a gift for his partner. Surely, she would be shaken up after the dean of her school was murdered on her first day. And if Arianna suspected him, then the gift might lessen the blow.

"Arianna? Is that you?" Arianna suddenly heard while browsing through the lacy selections at her favorite lingerie store.

"Jesse? What are you doing here?" she questioned, throwing a scandalous-laced teddy back onto the counter.

"I was passing by and noticed you. Where have you been? Why haven't you returned my calls and texts?"

"I've been...around. I'm sorry I haven't been getting back to you, but I've been busy with school."

"Busy with school? You're not in school 24/7, Arianna."

"Damn, Jesse. Back up, and quit acting like my man. I don't owe you an explanation for my lack of communication!" Arianna snapped.

"I'm sorry," Jesse said, throwing his hands up in surrender. "I wasn't trying to come across as pushy, but as your friend, I have been concerned about you. You up and move and don't tell anyone where you're living, and then you suddenly quit your job."

"I had to quit because I was starting school, and Mr. Bruce was unable to adjust my work schedule."

"You should've told Grandfather. He would've given you the time you needed off."

"I shouldn't have to go over Mr. Bruce's head to have my schedule adjusted. It's something that should've been honored, considering I was hired under the pretense of working part-time at 25 hours a week."

"Your points are valid, and I respect your decision to leave, but just because you're no longer an employee of Elite SA doesn't mean we stop being friends."

Jesse made a point; however, Arianna was focusing on herself and trying to get her life back in order and figure out her nightmare of a relationship with Harry. It wasn't a nightmare because Harry did something to her. It was a nightmare because of what he hadn't done to her.

In the past couple of weeks, Arianna's hormones had been on ten, and she had no idea how she should communicate to Harry that she had particular needs that needed to be met. She wasn't ready to lose her virginity, but she quite enjoyed receiving oral as she learned through her brief tryst with Pierce. She knew there was a high chance that all she had to do was walk up to Harry and ask, but she couldn't help but cringe at how unnatural that would feel. She figured maybe she would wear lingerie to bed instead of one of his shirts, and then the magic would happen. Frustratingly enough, after weeks, Arianna was still receiving innocent forehead, cheek, and hand kisses from Harry. Arianna needed to be kissed on both sets of lips.
