Ghosted: Uh-Oh! (Part I)
Ghosted: Uh-Oh! (Part I)
Two Weeks Later
Head on her work desk, Molly groaned loudly. “I should never have slept with him. What the hell is the matter with me?”
“Eh, we’re grown. When the moment strikes, the moment strikes,” Tiffany replied as she bit into her green apple. “At least you found out up front that he’s an asshole.”
Molly lifted her head. “That's the thing, I really thought that he wasn’t, but I guess he really had me fooled.”
“Come on, Mol, don’t beat yourself up. Like I said, we’re grown and sex isn’t this preverse thing between two consenting adults. He’s an utter asshole, who doesn’t deserve you.” She picked up one of the handwritten cards that sat on Molly’s desk. “I love you, your students love you, your parents love you, to hell with him.”
She sighed. “You’re right.”
“I know I am, plus it could have been worse. He could have been a real asshole and stole your stuff.”
“You’re never going to let that go, huh?” Molly said, chuckling. “Frederick was two years ago, Tiff at some point you gotta move on.”
“He stole my damn parakeet, Molly,” she seethed. “Who the hell steals someone’s parakeet? Cage and all, and how the hell did I sleep through it?”
Molly smirked. “Well, you did say he was a beast in bed.”
Tiffany rolled her eyes. “Yeah, fucker stole that too. My damn bird and an orgasm that still makes me shake when I think about it. You ever let me see that asshole, I’m running him over with the car.” The two shared a laugh, and then Tiffany shrugged. “Anyway, honestly the way you described this Robert, he doesn’t sound like he’s your type anyway.”
“That’s what I liked about him,” Molly replied, giving her a soft smile. “I liked that he wasn’t trying to be cool. He was his naturally adorably clumsy self.”
“Mhm. Well was the sex good at least?”
Molly shook her head. “And on that , our lunch break is up.”
“Come on, dish!” Tiffany said, nudging her.
“It was nice. Different, but nice.”
“Ew, since when did you start liking nice sex?”
Molly rolled her eyes. “Bye Tiffany. Go get your class from resource.”
“Fine, but we’re not done talking about this,” she said as she left Molly’s classroom.
Molly drew on her notepad as she waited for her class to enter. Her mind reeling, she sucked her teeth at the fact that it had been two weeks and she was still thinking about Robert. He’d slept with her, then ghosted her, and what hurt the most was that a part of her had been afraid from the beginning that something like this would happen.
I’m such a damn idiot.
She thought as she took a deep breath. Seeing her students enter, her heart warmed, and she stood from her desk. “How was everyone's resource?”
“Good!”
She nodded. “I’m glad. Now, how about we talk a little about the history of Haywood?” Multiple grumbles circled the room, and she laughed. “Oh, don’t be like that. I promise it will be interesting. You know, a few weeks ago I heard this really cool story about ghosts and it led me to do some research about it just for you all.” Their little ears perked up, and she smiled. “That’s more like it. Now, let’s talk about the story of the ghosts of Haywood.”
I’m tired as hell.
Molly kicked off her shoes the moment she entered her apartment from work. She’d been exhausted lately and while work was always tiresome, these last few weeks it had been hell even to get out of bed.
I love them to death, but those kids run me ragged.
She placed her bag on the counter and pulled out her binder of lesson plans. Heading over to the fridge, she poured herself a glass of wine. “Welp, another night of being alone,” she murmured as she took a seat, preparing to work. The sound of glass shattering in the kitchen made her jump. “What the hell?”
She returned to the kitchen and saw one of the cabinets open, and one of her wine glasses shattered on the floor. She sighed. “Great. Just another mess that I need.” Dragging her feet, she carefully reached for the broom and dustpan to clean up the mess.
BOOM
A bang in the other room caused her to freeze in place. Locked in position, she stared, waiting to see what the noise was, and if it would happen again. After a moment, she grabbed at her chest. “What the actual fuck?!” she shouted. “Okay, okay, relax, you're fine and there's nothing in here with you.” She made a makeshift microphone with her mouth. “Because if the fuck it is, it better be prepared to pay half in rent!” Silence covered the apartment and she nodded. “Mhm that’s what I thought.” Leaning down, she cleaned up the glass, deciding that maybe on second thought she didn’t need the wine she’d already poured.
Tired, Molly walked to her bathroom hoping that a long bath would soothe her aching body. Walking inside, her heart dropped as she looked in the mirror.
