Maybe... He likes me
Aria's POV
As much as I would like to pretend that I was getting over her threats... I freaking wasn't.
I was scared.
For life!
My heart raced, and I brought the cup slowly to my trembling lips.
I could hear the sound of Viola's forceful angry breathing. "What is this bitch doing here?!" She asked Luca pointing at me.
"I thought you were going to start treating her like the fucking slave she is."
Damn... That stung.
My eyes closed in pain.
The way Viola yelled the word slave... It made me jump, but only a little.
That bitch really did a number on me.
"Where are you going?" Luca ignored her words and asked instead.
Just then Fiona came in with a tray containing his breakfast. She arranged everything as carefully as usual while also being fast.
She just arrived in the middle of Viola's rage. I could tell she was worried that the thin bitch would transfer her aggression from me to her.
As soon as she was done setting the table, Fiona bowed and left... She walked so fast it was as though she vanished.
I wished I could vanish too.
Truthfully, I had another reason for coming here... To this table, this early.
I wanted to test Luca's feelings for me by spitting on Viola.
So far, it seemed I was going to get beaten up again.
The thought shocked me to the core.
I hadn't fucking recovered yet.
The way Luca ignored her only made Viola even angrier. "Luca, are you serious?" she asked, seeming surprised. "You're not going to do anything about the tramp on the dining table?"
I looked up from my food for just a second.
I sneaked a glance at Luca, and then at Viola before lowering my head again, picking up the mug I had dropped.
Oh... I'm doomed.
"Fine." Viola stamped her foot on the floor. "I'll deal with her myself."
I could swear... My heart dropped. It went down to my stomach. All the contents I had been eating began to feel unsettling.
Just before my body would begin to shiver because of the pain I was yet to receive, Luca spoke up.
"Viola, two things." He said in his ever calm tone. Gently, he pushed the chair away from himself and stood up, walking towards Viola, who shifted backwards. "One, never... Ever call her names again, and two, don't question me."
Her?
Me?
Like... Me?
I placed the mug down again and looked up.
There was no need to ask him if he remembered what transpired yesterday... He definitely did.
Viola sent me a glare... One that could kill and bury me. I was too stunned by Luca's words to react.
Wait a second...
Did he just protect me against his raging mad girlfriend?
Me?
The same bitch he almost allowed her to kill a few days ago?
Was it because he knew that I knew that he said he liked me?
Slowly I turned away again.
This was crazy.
It was going faster than I had predicted.
'Could he... Like actually like me? No joke, in all sincerity?' The thought suddenly came to my mind, but almost instantly I pushed it back.
That was impossible. It was only what he wanted me to think.
"Where are you going?" Luca asked Viola.
She was probably yet to recover from the shock of Luca's words also, she stammered. "I... To... My friends."
Oh... She had friends?
They were probably as wicked and evil as she was.
Maybe it was an evil witch's meeting club she needed to attend.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Luca nod. Then he grabbed his phone from the table and made a call. The person was picked almost instantly. "Come down here, now." He commanded.
Damn.
He could have been a soldier. But a mafia man wasn't any different. He got to hold guns and kill people just like they did.
Luca returned to his seat and began eating. Though... Very slowly.
He barely actually even ate anything from each bite.
"Boss." I heard a familiar voice. I turned to look.
Viola was still standing there, but beside her there was...
"Who is this?" She inquired, staring at the stranger.
One I knew well... maybe not well, since he was avoiding me. Marcus.
My brows pulled together and I frowned. What was Marcus doing standing next to Viola?
Luca lifted his face from his food. I could swear that he glanced at me, but I was too preoccupied thinking of Luca's next possible plan that I didn't see it.
I reached out my hand to grab the mug again, and my mouth suddenly felt dry.
I tried to get Marcus to glance at me, but he didn't. Instead, he lowered his head with a sullen expression.
He looked as though he was guilty of doing something.
If anyone here had to be guilty of anything, it would be me. I made Luca punish him with mt big mouth.
Luca pushed his chair back and stood up.
I noticed, but didn't really care. My gaze was still fixed on Marcus.
Luca cleared his throat, I sighed, bringing the mug to my lips. Luca ha
d his gaze directed at Viola, and he answered her question. "He's your new guard, he'll be going with you."
Fucking hell!
"What?!"
