Chapter 39

Chapter 39

Jennifer

I fell deaf. Luciano tried to speak to me but I couldn't register anything. I was bleeding cold and soon, I would faint due to explosions inside my head, they were killing me. Due to my instability, Luciano was the in-charge of dressing me up because I had no such energy to put clothes on my body. We had to leave for the mansion whilst I was full of pain because of two facts; one, our son went missing and two, on the night we were about to be open with each other.

"Strawberry, please answer me, I can't do this without you being fine," Luciano's hands clutching my shoulders firmly. My vision stabled to some point and I stoned my sight, leaking out with unshed tears.

"Is he going to be alright?" I put a hand on my heart, throwing my head down in fear of my newborn's well-being. I didn't bear pains to lose my merely born child. He had to be okay.

"He will be more than alright, nothing is going to happen to him. No one will even think of harming him unless they desire a high end of traumatic deaths. He is my son, even my rivals would think twice before attacking him," Hearing he could be in the hands of dangers, my heart sank more. I let my sobs be out of me in a way that could make anyone hear me miles away. "Don't worry, he will be at home, our son will be absolutely fine," He kept consoling me with fake scenarios and I believed them for not more than a second.

"He is just a week old baby, I c—can't imagine anything happening to him," I rushed to his arms, sobbing hysterically, he secured me skin-tightly.

"My love..." He made me look at him, cupping my cheeks and hair strands, "I promise he will be in your hands by tomorrow, but the longer we stay, the longer we delay. That's why it's better to leave now," He assured me, kissing my temple. I heard a voice buried somewhere unknown inside of me to trust him once which got me nodding away my consent.

"But first, you need to assure me one thing," I expressed, hiccupping.

"Anything," He tugged a few strands behind my ears.

"Tell me what we were about to make was real, tell me you love me," I grabbed his hand with both of my hands.

"There's nothing on earth I love more than you which makes me declare there's nothing more real on my earth than making love to you," I couldn't define the bloom I had in my insides. "I really love you, strawberry, you are my first as I assumed I'm yours. That's why we are still together to remain together," I felt the need to kiss him mercilessly but there was our son in God knows what condition. I had to keep it for later, even when Luciano was all ready to spare a few seconds to have a smooching moment.

I was about to stand on my own, to eliminate the attraction, but his reflexes were sharp, he hoisted me up and took me out of this modern hut, to his car in which he first settled me and walked the other way to the driving seat, hopping in, he turned on the engine and dashed toward mansion's direction, that took us an hour to reach there.

Luciano parked the car in the middle, "Strawberry, help yourself to your room, do not go anywhere, it's dangerous out here, I'll get going," He rattled out while unbuckling his seatbelt and stormed out of the car in another second. I was left open-mouthed on his hastiness.

I opened the door, stepped out of the charcoal Audi Q7 and was escorted by Audrey to the lobby of the mansion where disturbing screams echoed. I observed the screaming voices, they were discharging from the first floor's lobby, I instantly recognised it was Domenico whining. "Audrey, do not follow me," I ordered as if I was allowed to, but then I realised I was Mrs. Luciano and she was bound to obey me.

"But, madame, you are not allowed to witness violence," I heard her stopping me as I took a step ahead. My head turned her way, a scowl on my face to tell her enough but with her stubborn face, she kept her eyes downcast.

"I'm not obliged to follow your commands, it's Luciano Bernardi's wife whom you are speaking with," A reminder a day might keep an Audrey away, at least that's what I thought but...

"Forgive me, madame, but I can't let you go up there. You need to go to your chamber," Audrey gestured to the in-home elevator. She blocked my way to the left stairs but I stormed straight to the right side connecting to a single lobby, letting out a 'fuck yourself', following those heightened shrieks. My heart dropped hearing him plead for mercy, but as I reached the lobby, I saw men circling around the scene, their hands behind their backs.

I didn't miss to notice their eyes looking away from the crime itself as if they weren't there to save him from a monster; whose face wasn't clear until I stepped closer.

My eyes failed to register the scenario, the monster was none other than Luciano whose eyes were bloodshot as if he needed his blood to quench his wrath. I followed his veins that were popping out of his neck, trailing till his arms. My stomach tied a strong knot when pure scarlet blood oozed out before my sight. Fuck, I couldn't see Domenico's face, it was fucking covered with his blood. No, he was going to kill him. No, this was unethical. He could not kill his cousin in the name of my son.

I couldn't bear one calamity after another. It wasn't the way to solve things, at least not in my book.

"Come puoi essere così negligente? (How can you be so negligent?)," Luciano growled, putting a blazing knife over his neck, his hand choking that poor's jaw, unaware of my presence.

"Sono pronto a morire, maestro, ho commesso un peccato imperdonabile, (I'm ready to die, master, I committed an unforgivable sin)," Domenico sobbed, it was rare to see these men expressing their vulnerability. Luciano doesn't put knives on him every day, of course, anyone would cry at their death moment.

"No, he isn't gonna die! I won't let this happen," I screamed back to my subconscious. Zoning back to the crime scene. My hands shivered imagining Luciano putting that weapon on me, but pushed that thought on the edge of my mind.

"Qual è il tuo ultimo desiderio? (What's your last wish?)," the hundredth time I wished to understand Italian through a miracle, but got none as Luciano roared at bullet train's speed. He didn't look less than an insane wolf, but unfortunately, that was a turn on for me, or perhaps, I was left unsatisfied in the midst of a night.

What the fuck, Jennifer

"Per favore accetta le mie scuse sincere, non volevo perderlo, questo è il mio ultimo desiderio, (Please accept my sincere apology, I didn't want to lose him, this is my last wish)," The next I heard was Domenico shrieking in pain as Luciano stroke cut over his neck vein, his blood travelled down in a tsunami and I couldn't look at them any longer. Something in me had me screaming to stop it down but on the other hand, that same thing seized my senses; that was fear of being killed.

Everything returned, how my fafter tried to hurt my mother and how I came between them. God gave me a chance in life once, I could not test him twice, but the empathy in my heart couldn't let me ignore the cruelty happening. I knew my fear could not stop me. So I had myself running toward them, just one hurdle stopped me from going further and that was Audrey. "Ah, Leave me!" I hissed.

She was hugging me from behind at the wrong time; when Luciano's hand was fuelled to stab him. There, I broke my silence, but I didn't speak, I screamed. At Luciano. To stop. "LUCIANO! PLEASE! NO!" My tears blurred my vision. I couldn't see if he actually paid attention to my voice or followed his urge to kill mercilessly. "HE IS YOUR COUSIN! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO HIM, PLEEEASE!" Audrey's hand supported my body's weight while I buried my head in my chest.

I didn't expect to feel cold hands, full of blood, to be on my shoulders, but there they were. "Strawberry, didn't I tell you to go straight to your room? Why are you here?" He pulled me closer but I prevented him with my hands on his chest pushing him back. I felt hurt clearly exhibited on his face as my eyes were stoned on the white marble due to unpreventable fear of him. I was fearing the same man who was making love to me hours ago.

"P..Pl..Please d-don't k-kill k-kill h-him," I was visibly shaking in his embrace but it wasn't in my control. I didn't want to anger him more, God please help me.

"Alright, alright, stop shaking, I'm not killing anyone, for God's sake, control yourself," He didn't mean to hurt you, Jennifer. He was only asking you to calm down, do not take it on your tiny sensitive-ass heart. He says he loves you. He took my hands in his instant warm hand and pulled me closer to his warmer body. Actually, it wasn't warm, it was hot as fuck, like volcanic molten lava eruption.

Before we could exchange words, I sensed a shadow covering us. Looking up to him, I found Mario towering. "Master... it's urgent," His eyes weren't on me even when he knew I was gawking at him. It's maybe because Luciano was glaring at him.

Luciano tried to get up, I was fast to push him down and stay with me, because somehow I felt good in his arms.

Sighing in some way, he was left to reply, "Speak, Mario," Mario audibly sighed, visibly expressing he was uncomfortable with my presence as he didn't speak for quite a few seconds, "Mario, are you also ready for operation 45?" Sounded like a threat because that shook Mario inside out. He was quick to respond in negative.

"N—No, master, I need your permission first, it's confidential," Alright. He indeed was uncomfortable with my presence but I had no intention to leave them alone. Not when I knew it could be related to our son.

"Audrey, take madame to our room," That statement did tie a knot in my stomach but I shooed away the butterflies, focusing back on the gravity of the situation.

"No, I'm staying here and he will talk to my face, in my presence," This man better had to because I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I would shave his head if he wouldn't start speaking in less than a minute. I glanced at Luciano who sighed defeatedly and nodded his head.

"We are certain it's Mr. Nikola that has Mr. Luca. Diego registered his entry at 5:43 in the evening and left at 10:35 PM. Our security in-charge just sent me the footage where Mr. Nikola was carrying the baby," Just as he announced, I forgot to breathe, my complexion fell paler. My wild imagination destroyed my last-bit of peace. What did this man want from me? What did I do wrong to him? He was a maniac who belonged to a mental asylum.

Out of the blue, my thought flushed away when my back reverberated, turning around I found Luciano in the darkest form of red; the indescribable one. "Figlio di puttana (son of a bitch)," I knew he cussed because Andrea taught me each cuss word in Italian. "Where is he now?" Keeping in mind that I was in his embrace, he kept his voice in check.

"At the loft," That earned a strange reaction.

"What?" A staggering gasp left his mouth. Was that something to be worried about? Was loft a code word for danger? God, please save my Luca. "How come he could be there?" Wait, what? Why did he say that? Was he allowed to be there? This all was confusing me even more and it was frustrating. "Is that an invitation?" Nothing was making sense to me. I gave him a look of care-to-elaborate.

"It seems so," Mario replied, forwarding a tablet toward us which Luciano snatched before I could. I was curious to look at the screen to answer the puzzling questions erupting in my mind. The tablet screen had footage of a man who was Nikola holding none other than our baby.

That provoked me to scream painfully, but I covered my mouth with my hands before I could actually scream. "He has Luca in his hands," I brushed my fingers on the screen and prayed helplessly to snatch my baby from that bloody maniac.

"I gotta get him," Luciano tried to dash but I grasped him before he could stand on his feet.

"You won't leave without me," He shook his head defensively, cupped my face and was about to open his mouth, "I didn't ask for your opinion, I announced a commandment," I stood up to stride before he could convince me to stay back.

Running out of the mansion, I stormed to the car, finding it unlocked. I opened the door and hopped inside, watching Luciano march with Mario and two other guards after him. Even in this intense situation, he looked hot as fuck, his biceps were loaded with meat, that board chest on which I was roaming my hands, enjoying each bit of it, made me drool over him until he opened the driving side door, his eyes side-glancing me. "Put the seatbelt on," He corrected as soon as he noticed.

I used to deny this crazy attraction but now I was more allure to it.

Gulping away the lustful thoughts, I extended my hand to the belt. This was surely going to be a wild-ass ride,"How long will it take us to get there?" I asked, locking belt with the holder.

"Ten minutes because I won't just drive..." He titled his head a little to me, "I'll drift for the fuck's sake," And he sounded quite true to his words.
