Chapter 739 Jealousy

Chapter 739 Jealousy

Barbara was very happy to hear what the doctor said.

After the doctor left, Barbara and Blake stayed until the afternoon before reluctantly leaving.

Only after seeing Barbara and Blake leave did Emily dare to hug Victor.

"Victor, you scared me to death! If you died, I wouldn't want to live either!"

Victor pinched her cheek, "What are you talking about?"

"I'll never let you go out alone at night again!"

Then Emily remembered something and asked fiercely, "Who is she?"

Victor turned his head and only then noticed that she had come too.

"Emily, I'm hungry. What should I do?"

Emily wrinkled her nose, "If you're hungry, I'll go downstairs and buy you some food."

Emily walked up to her and raised her fist, "Don't do anything to Victor, understand?"

After Emily left, Victor looked at her, "Did you get the thing?"

She pulled out a diary and gave a slight smile.

Victor breathed a sigh of relief. Although they hadn't known each other long, and he didn't even know her name, he could still sense she was reliable.

"Why aren't you talking? Say something."

"You told me not to talk."

Victor was stunned, remembering how he had told her not to speak that night.

Thinking about this, he didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Was she really that obedient?

"Did you read what's in the diary?"

The woman nodded.

Victor sighed, "I don't know what you've been through in the past that made you this way, but I want to tell you that these things are wrong, understand? We need to blend in with normal people and become normal people, not..."

"You're regressing."

"What?" Victor was stunned.

"You're regressing. You're going from a carnivore to an herbivore."

When she spoke, her tone was calm, but it sent chills down one's spine.

Victor felt a headache coming on. Another psycho who was hard to change.

He was thinking about whether to hand her over to Blake—maybe Blake could cure her psychological problems.

Just as he was thinking, the police arrived.

Leading them was a middle-aged man, "Hello, I'm the chief of Serenity County Police Department. Due to our officer's mistake that caused your injury, we deeply apologize."

Victor didn't want to hear his long speech and interrupted, "Whether it was a mistake or not, we both know the truth. But considering that Lucille was my former classmate, I won't pursue this matter, and neither will she."

He pointed at her.

"You just need to cover our medical and recovery expenses."

Kenneth's face lit up, and he glanced at Lucille discreetly, "Thank you so much."

Victor nodded, "Since you brought them here too, you must have more questions. Let's handle everything at once so you don't have to keep coming back and forth."

Kenneth nodded and left the rest to Lucille before leaving.

Lucille thanked him, "Thanks a lot."

Victor smiled slightly, "You're my classmate, of course I'll help you. Alright, ask whatever you want to know. No need for all that formal stuff."

"Why were you there that night?"

Victor pointed at her, "On a date with her. She likes me."

Then Lucille looked at the woman, who nodded in agreement.

Lucille frowned. She said half-jokingly, half-seriously, "From what I remember, you're not the kind of bad guy who goes on dates just because a woman likes you."

Victor shrugged, "She's special. I like this type."

Lucille didn't comment and asked a few more questions about details before preparing to leave.

Victor spoke up then, "I'm not choosing not to pursue this because of police pressure, but because of you. Now that this is over, I hope you won't bother me again."

"Of course, if you need my cooperation, I'll cooperate, but don't make it too frequent."

Lucille nodded and left.

As soon as she walked out, she saw Emily with tears on her face and paused, but said nothing and turned to leave.

Emily held the food, looking pitiful as she placed it in front of Victor, choking up, "Victor, here's your food. Eat it. I'm going home now."

Victor realized that she must have heard what he just said.

He quickly grabbed Emily, "What I just said was to fool the police. You actually believed it? I'm either at the company or at home every day—where would I have time to meet new girls? I don't even know her name."

"My name is Zara Darkmore."

"Shut up! Who wants to know your name?"

Victor was speechless. She was definitely doing this on purpose.

Couldn't she see he was trying to comfort Emily?

Victor had Emily sit beside him and promised, "Don't worry, I'll only choose you in this lifetime. She's not even half as pretty as you."

"That's impossible. I'm way prettier than her. If you don't believe me, just call someone over and have them choose."

Victor clenched his fist, "Please leave!"

"No, you have to take me. I want to kill people too."

Victor quickly said loudly, "Stop! You're an employee at my company now. You've successfully joined. Now leave."

Zara smiled sweetly and turned to leave.

Before leaving, whether intentionally or not, she specifically said, "I really am prettier than her, and I really do like you."

"Get lost!"

Victor couldn't help but curse.

Seeing Emily about to cry again, Victor quickly comforted her, "You're the most beautiful in my heart."

"You just said you were fooling the police. What do you mean by fooling?"

Lucille's voice rang out again.

Victor looked up impatiently, "Why are you back?"

Lucille said, "I forgot to tell you and Emily that the 921 case has been solved and the killer has been found. Also, to thank you for your contribution to solving this case, the government has decided to award you the Good Citizen Award and $300,000 in prize money. I just forgot to mention it earlier. Who would have thought that when I came back, I'd happen to hear you say that what you told us was all lies."

"So please explain this to me properly."

Victor gritted his teeth. He strongly suspected Lucille did this on purpose, just to ambush him.

At that moment, the hospital room door opened again, but this time, Lucille froze in place.

And Zachary spoke at just the right moment, "Lucille, you're here too? You know he's Henry?"

"What!" Lucille was shocked. She turned to look at Victor with doubt and uncertainty.

All her suspicions converged on one point, "He's Henry?"

Zachary nodded, "Yes, but I didn't mean to hide it from you. I was planning to tell you after removing the scar on his face and after his memory recovered."

Lucille and Zachary had kept in touch all these years.

Including her climb to this position—Zachary had helped her a lot.

After all, setting aside the engagement between Henry and her, he quite admired Lucille.

Emily listened to them talking with a confused expression, looking at Victor from time to time, then at them.

This was chaos, complete chaos!
