Chapter 34 Chapter 34
Chapter 34
Darius POV
"What do you mean?" She asked flustered.
"You know what I mean." I responded, looking away from her and going back to my food.
She didn't say anything after that and I didn't either. After I finished my food, I stood up from the chair abruptly.
"I will see you later dear wife." I said and left the dinning leaving her stunned.
I went to my study to round up something I was working on before going downstairs and went back to my room. I changed my clothes to my normal suit.
I wore my dress shoes and strapped my wristwatch on my wrist. After that I left the house, Nathan was already outside waiting for me in the car with the driver.
"Good afternoon Alpha." Both of them greeted me as I entered the backseat.
"Mmn." I responded and the journey started.
Riel had informed me last night that Leonard wanted to see me. When I asked him why, he said he didn't know.
But what left me puzzled is the fact that Leonard didn't call me himself. Oh shit, I remember now I blocked his number.
I brought my phone from my pocket to unblock his number. After that, threw the phone on the chair thinking hard about what he wanted to see me for.
He wanted us to meet at a coffee shop, which sounds suspicious too. Leonard would have dropped by my office but instead he chose a coffee shop.
Could he want to tell me that the woman I'm currently living with is Iris and not Vickie? But knowing Leonard he would never do that.
He has something up his sleeves and I can't wait to find out what it is.
"Boss, Donovan wants to schedule a meeting with you." Nathan informed me, looking back at me from the passenger seat.
"What does he want?" I groaned.
"He didn't say. Just said he wants to see you, and that you should pick a date and time." He responded.
"What is it with these bastards wanting to see me?" I cussed under my breath.
"Fine. Tell him I will think about it." I said to him and he nodded his head.
"We are here Alpha." The driver announced after a few minutes.
I nodded my head, getting out of the car along with Nathan. I spotted Leonard immediately seated beside the window with an impatient look on his face. He hasn't seen me yet, good.
"Good afternoon, welcome to Maison Cafe. What can I get for you?" The barista greeted me with a smile.
"We are here to see somebody." Nathan replied her and Leonard turned to us putting on a fake smile which I so desperately want to wipe away from his face.
He waved at us and I nodded my head, walking closer to him. I sat down opposite him, seeing his beta by the table closest to us.
Nathan sat down with his beta.
"Good afternoon Son, I hope this place wasn't a hassle for you to find." He beamed in that annoying voice of his.
"It isn't when you have a very good driver you know." I replied, sounding a little bit cold.
He nodded his head. "How is my daughter doing?" he asked.
Couldn't you have called her and asked her yourself? I wanted to say but I stopped myself.
"She is fine."
"Mmn. Talking about my daughter, this is her favorite coffee spot which is why I suggested we meet up here." He muttered.
I don't see how that concerns me. I wanted to snicker.
"I see."
"Well, I have been doing a lot of thinking. It's been almost two weeks since you both got married and I miss her so much. The house has been undeniably quiet without having her run around."
"And Iris too has been down. She misses her twin sister." He continued.
This man definitely takes me for a fool. He misses her? The fuck, in pretty sure he doesn't give two shits about her.
He can call her to come see him or basically just come to my house but no he didn't, he decided to bore me with his talk instead.
"So I wanted to ask If you can spare her for just two days, let me just have her around. You would have noticed I have become a little pale, I have been sick and worried about her." He added.
"Of course she can. You don't need to take permission from me before you see your daughter, you know." I responded.
"Beautiful thank you. I just wanted to inform you, as her husband." He said, smiling from ear to ear.
"Nah, it's fine."
"So how about a honeymoon? Haven't you guys decided on where to go too?" He asked and I clenched my fists to stop myself from slamming his head against the table.
"We are still thinking about our options." I lied.
"That's not bad then. Maybe after she comes back from the two day holiday at my house you both can go. And don't get too caught up in the city and forget to give me grandchildren." He winked at me.
And I'm pretty sure by now, my disgust for him was showing on my face.
"I can't wait to hold them in my hands. You know, I'm getting old and would really like to see my grandchildren before I die." He continued, his voice sounding a little broken at the ending part but I knew he was lying.
He deserves an Oscar award for lying.
"That won't be a problem." I said briefly.
"Alright, thank you. I will call Ir...Vickie now and inform her about it." He muttered and I nodded my head. He almost called Iris name but I didn't bother much about it, I already know it's Iris living with me and not Vickie.
What I don't know now is what they are planning.
"I can't wait to see my daughter." He expressed.
"Mmn. If that's all, I would like to take my leave now. Spend some time with my wife before she comes to you ." I said.
His smile widened, at this point the smile might get stuck on his face. "Of course you can leave now."
With that I walked out of the cafe.
