Chapter 51; The Tournament

It was time for the tournament. As planned, a draw was used to decide who would face off against each other. Alpha Zander was Matthew's opponent in the first match.

And the second didn't like what was going on. "That's not fair! Why does that man want to be in the contest? Doesn't this break the rules?" Zander yelled at his pack as he walked toward the ring.

"Alpha, the race has no rules. So, it's not wrong for him to take part. The committee made it clear that the winner will be the last person left. So you can do whatever it takes to win.

"Damn it! I decided to play this game because the adults asked me to. But I didn't know I'd be digging my grave here!" Zander replied, squeezing his hands together.

"You can't give up, Alpha!"

"Of course I'm not going to give up! I'll look even more silly if I give up because I'm scared. The honor of our pack is at stake here!"

"But try your best not to die."

"Damn you!" Zander yelled out and gave his group an angry look. But this is also what he prays for. He was worried that what happened between him and Cheska the night before made Bradley angry.

There are a lot of people in the arena. Since this was their first time doing something like this. Many people want to watch because this is the first time the people of Thunder City will see their king fight.

Cheska, on the other hand, was busy while everyone else was excited. She is now locked up in the same cage as the person who struck her. Beta Leonel went with her without permission from Matthew.

"Cheska, are you sure it's okay for me to leave you here?" Beta Leonel asked her with worry. Matthew is busy fighting, so he can't leave his place.

"Yeah, I'm good, so you can go." Cheska gave a confident smile to dispel Leonel's worries.

"Okay, but promise me you'll go straight back to the pack house. You know how Matthew is..." Leonel warned before he turned around to go back to his place.

Cheska went into the cage when Leonel was finally out of it. The man she was looking for was sitting in the corner with his hands tied together.

"What do you want? I've already told Alpha Matthew what I know, so I won't answer!" Neo did it.

Cheska is shocked and can't believe that the person who struck her is Neo. After a minute of quiet, she said, "Tell me everything you told Matthew." Cheska had a strong feeling that Matthew was lying to her. Because of this, she had to hear it.

"I already told you that I don't know who runs the secret group! I know only that they want you!" Neo let out a sigh of defeat. He now wishes he hadn't made the choice to move on his own.

"I was right! Matthew kept the secret group from me. Cheska said something to herself. "Where does this secret society meet?"

Neo gave a head shake. "They talk to me on the phone... They wanted me to join the group and learn everything I could about you.

Neo got lost in his thoughts. She thought it had something to do with her past and the omen.

She left the cage with something on her mind. Because of this, Cheska didn't notice that a shadow was following her every move.

"If Neo was sent here to find me, it's likely that there are other people here as well." Cheska's lips turned into a smile because of this. She was excited by the risk she was in.

Cheska saw Matthew in the middle of the ring with his opponent, Zander, when she got there. "Hmm, this game will end quickly," she said.

"Cheska" Cheska" Ava came up behind them, huffing, which meant she had just arrived.

"Well, well, well... Cheska, I had no idea you liked to hang out with such a weak creature. Also coming from behind was Eunice.

"It looks like you guys are in love... Why don't you talk to each other?" Cheska stood up for herself and started to walk toward the Thunder pack's bench.

Eunice looked at Ava from head to toe and then smiled. "I would rather talk to myself than you!" Then she started walking toward Cheska.

When she heard this, Ava raised an eyebrow. "I don't know where you are... The other side is where your pack bench is!"

But Eunice didn't pay attention to it and kept going. She then sat down next to Cheska.

The head of the group spoke a few minutes later. "We all decided that no one can get in the way. No one could stop the fight as long as the opponent wanted to fight. They could fight until they died. Or they can give up and accept they've lost.

"BANG!" When the gun goes off, the fight starts.

Matthew just stood in the middle of the floor and watched Zander's every move.

"So, how do you like the dinner? Matthew says this in a scary way. Cheska changed because he can't forget what happened that night. Matthew is happy about what happened, but he wants the girl to be his mate.

"Enjoy? That girl is a crazy person! But you're right, that night was fun because I got to eat with a queen. Zander's answer was a snort. He looked at the side where Cheska was sitting because he wasn't happy.

He made a big mistake by doing this. Matthew quickly closed the space between them in the blink of an eye. "Hmm... Well, you're lucky, because I don't want to kill you. But if you say anything bad about her, I won't think twice about killing you.

When Matthew moved quickly, it made a lot of noise right away. The maidens' hearts slowly fill with admiration, while the men's hearts are filled with fear.

"Why did he have to talk about me? What do you mean?" Cheska said, "He only put his life at risk," in a choked whisper, as her head shook in disbelief.

"Did you overhear what they were talking about?" When Eunice heard what Cheska had to say, she asked. She couldn't understand Matthew and Zander because there was too much noise around.

"It's nothing; they're just arguing." Cheska answered and gave a smile.

Matthew and Zander's fight didn't last as long as people thought it would. In reaction to Matthew's clear tension, the second person moved away. Zander is scared that Matthew will kill him the next time he attacks.

Beta Edison of the Shadow Pack and Alpha Xander of the Black Pack won the first day of the battle. In the next event, they will face Matthew.
