Chapter 91 - The Darker Side

LARISSA'S POV.

I could feel him standing behind me, his eyes boring holes in my back, his breath low. He gave a small snicker, and I could hear the lack of mirth in that laugh, but I kept calm, or at least tried to.

Not even once have I been calm ever since I got to know him, to be with him, and be let in on his plans concerning Sin.

My eyes closed as my thoughts shifted to the beautiful man I had as my husband once and ended up losing just like that. Every minute I see him in another woman's arms, it burns. It hurts like fucking crazy.

"You failed again, Larissa. Let me count. Sin took my diamonds and fooled me. Sin injured my man because he touched that lowlife wife of his. And now... Enrique is dead, too. I am seriously beginning to doubt your ability to win over Sin, Larissa. Should I take matters into my own hands."

"No," I said, turning slightly. I knew better than to turn and meet his eyes. "If anyone is going to kill Sin, it should be me."

"Stop fucking lying, Larissa. You are still in love with the man."

"He abandoned me!"

"No. You abandoned him. And I can see it in your eyes that you hate that he is moving on. If you were so keen on killing him, you could have simply moved your gun a little higher instead of aiming for Enrique, but you were keen on saving his life."

I closed my eyes, my chest heaving. He was right. I had more than one chance to kill Sin. Before our wedding. Instead, I chose to hurt him by sleeping with Callum because to me, I would rather watch him hate me than live in a world where he doesn't exist.

I would rather have him hate me than not be able to console myself with the fact that we could be breathing the same air, watching the same sunset, loving the same stars.

My eyes closed. Sin loved stars. He was like a boy whenever I would make those toasts and bring them to the large garden right behind the mansion, and he would lie in my lap, watching the stars, his eyes holding them in such awe and beauty.

My fists clenched hard. After years, I still can't forget those memories. I still can't let go.

"You can't be possibly entertaining the thought that he would ever look at you again, are you?"

"No," I said, even though it hurt. It hurt that I was being honest. I knew Sin enough to know that he had given me more than enough chances, and even if he gave me another one, I would ruin it as long as I got to keep him safe.

"You might have some sense up there."

I bit down on my lips. "I will take care of Sin. You know how dangerous he is. You know how..."

"But you know him inside out. Why do you think I chose you?"

I nodded. "I know, and that is why I am taking it slow. Building his trust."

"The last time I heard, sweetie, the only thing you are building is a castle in the air."

"I just.."

"Forget it," he said simply. "Dante will be coming back in three days. I heard it is that little brat's birthday, am I right?"

"My daughter has nothing to do with this!"

"Oh, she does," he said, and I heard him grab a bottle of wine. "Anyone even remotely related to Sin... has something with this, including you. Because I pull him down, I am pulling all of you with him. I will use the entire world as collateral damage if it helps me take him down."

I recognized that sound in his voice, and I knew better than to argue right now. The last time I argued, he left me with a knife in my thigh.

"What do you want to do with Dante?"

"Lure Sin to the very port where he stole my diamonds. Arrange for a sniper and blow his fucking brains out. I want it on my plate by the end of your daughter's birthday."

I blinked hard, resisting the urge to push a knife down his throat instead.

"You don't want to pull the trigger to his face?"

I heard his slow footsteps behind me. "I don't care how he dies as long as he dies. You are going to his mansion to celebrate, am I right?"

"Do you want something?"

"The diamonds, of course. I have a sudden desire to see how they look on you, Larissa."

My brows furrowed. "What do you mean?"

The sound of glass hitting the table reached my ears, and I stilled myself as his footsteps slowly came towards me. He took his time, and I held my breath, my chest heaving.

He finally got to the couch where I was sitting. My eyes fixed on the large curved TV in front of us, and I saw his dark eyes reflect in them as he leaned to my earlobe.

His tongue ran along my ear, and I stilled myself so I wouldn't show the utter disgust I felt deep inside.

"I want to see how diamonds look on the ropes I use on you, sweetie. Treating you like a little lady, huh?"

I bit down on my lips. "I am flattered."

He gave a small chuckle. "Be a good little girl in three days and make sure Sin does not leave that port on his own two legs. Make sure he is dead, and make sure to serve his brains for me as a main course after."

I nodded. "I will prepare the wine you will have with it too."

He chuckled. "You are such a good girl sometimes, and it is such a fucking tease."

Slowly, his hand wrapped tightly around my neck, and I closed my eyes as I threw my head back, my lips parting, not from any sort of erotic stimulation, but from the fact that the bastard was cutting off my air; a fact he was very well aware of. It was a sadistic gratification for him, and I knew better than to object.

He moved his other hand as his lips started to bite down on my neck, his nose brushing against the side of my face.

My dress ripped in two, freeing my chest to his hands, and he wasted no time, grabbing them in his hands.

But night after night that ended up like this, the only thing that stopped me from moaning Sin's name was the fact that I found no pleasure in it at all. With Sin, I knew I would find pleasure. With this bastard, I wanted it to be over as soon as possible so I could scrub my skin hard and hope the stench of his presence would be washed away under the water.
