Book 2 Chapter 28

Colton

I took Jenna by the hand as I led her to the house. It was located a few blocks from Benjamin and Chloe’s house. A white five bedroom house with one acre of land. There was also a small cabin in the woods. Perfect for just me and Jenna to explore our fantasies. Daddy can’t wait to see where that leads.

I loved living with Benjamin and Chloe, but it was time for our privacy. With Chloe’s due date coming up, they would need their privacy, too.

I pulled the bandana from Jenna’s eyes and whispered, “Surprise, babe.”

“Colton, what’s—”

“This is our new home. Happy birthday, babe.”

Jenna turned and engulfed me in a bone-crushing hug. A deep chuckle erupted from me as I wrapped one arm around her waist. “Come on, you haven’t even looked inside yet.”

Jenna and I stepped up onto the porch and looked at each other. I flashed her a wolfish grin as I unlocked the door. Turning the knob, I pushed the door open. I then, turned to her and swept her in my arms. She squealed as I carried her through the threshold.

“Colton! You’re gonna hurt yourself.”

“I believe I’m very capable of carrying my girl and child inside our home.”

“It’s beautiful,” Jenna murmured, “I love it! How can you even afford a place like this?”

“When my father died, I received everything in the will. I sold the house I grew up in and now here we are. My love, I’ll make sure you’re set for life. This is our new beginning, baby. A fresh start to make new memories.”

“God, I love you so much, Colton. I’m so glad I never gave up on you… on us. This is the best birthday ever.”

Benjamin set the last box down on the floor as I pulled two beers out of the cooler. I slide one across the counter and twisted the cap off of mine.

“You’re sure about this? Chloe and I are gonna miss having you around.”

“I’m sure. I’ve never been so sure of something before in my life. Besides, Chloe’s due date is just around the corner.”

“I’ll drink to that, man.” Benjamin raised his glass, “And, I’m betting Jenna won’t be too far behind her. How about we put a little wager on it?”

“Seriously?! I think you’ve been around Angelo too much. You’re starting to think like him.”

“Come on, man. If you win, I’ll babysit when you guys want to have a date night.”

“What do you get if you win?”

He smirked, “The same. So, how about it, brother? You game?”

“You’re on. What’s the bet?”

“The first one that goes into labor wins.”

“Just go into labor? Pft, that’s easy.”

He shook his head and smirked, “No, not just go into labor—she has to have the baby.”

It’s been exactly one week since Benjamin and I made that bet. One week since Jenna and I have spent nonstop planning for the wedding. Endless unpacking to get ready for the baby. In the middle of the night, I received the call from Dr. Alvarez.

“Get the fuck down to the hospital! It’s happening. Chloe’s having her baby. One more thing, Benjamin says, he wins.”

“Fuck.”

I shook Jenna gently and whispered, “Baby, get up. We have to go to the hospital. Chloe’s gone into labor.”

We rushed to the hospital and sat in the waiting room. Tilly smiled at us as we sat across from her. “Do you think it’s going to be a boy or a girl?”

“Boy.” I said at the same time Jenna said girl.

“You two are the cutest ever.”

About two and half hours later, Benjamin stepped out with a baby in his arms smiling. “Meet Trey Colton Grayson. I win, brother.”

With the drama between Jeff and Amber, I’ve had to run the shop. I’ve recently put up a ‘help wanted’ sign in the window, but so far no inquiries. Recently, I’ve been getting sharp pains every once and a while. I know it’s getting closer to having my baby. Chloe and Benjamin got to go home a few days ago. I finished the inventory and deliveries for the day. I’ve been doing the paperwork, and Colton has been doing the deliveries for me. He’s insisted I take it easy. I need to just get through the day and I’ll tell him I’m shutting down the shop for about a month.

Colton stepped through as I closed the laptop. I forced a smile as he stepped around the counter. Another sharp pain shot through my abdomen, making me hiss out in pain. “Shit.”

“Fuck, is it time?!”

“It’s—fuck, that one hurt!”

Colton widened his eyes and demanded. “We’re going to the hospital. Right now.”

Colton made it to the hospital in five minutes and pulled up to the emergency exit. Dr. Alvarez met us at the entrance with a wheelchair ready. Colton helped me into it and Dr. Alvarez nodded. “Let’s have that baby, okay?”

“Okay. Colton, call—”

“Benjamin and Chloe. I’m on it, babe. I’ll be in there in a few minutes.”

Dr. Alvarez rolled me into a room with a team of nurses ready to get me into a bed. They took all my vitals and hooked me up to an IV. I screamed out as another contraction washed through my body. “Ahh!”

“I’m here! I’m here!” Colton announced, stepping into the room. He pulled up a chair and held my hand. “You can do this. Be strong for me.”

“Easy for you to say.” I muttered.

“Chloe and Benjamin will be here soon. They’re thrilled to meet our Princess.”

Dr. Alvarez checked her dilation and began to whisper to one of the nurses. They widened their eyes and began to check my vitals once again. Dr. Alvarez smiled sadly and said, “I’m sorry, Colton, but we need to perform a emergency C-section. The baby is breached.”

Panic filled my body, causing tears to well-up in my eyes. Colton shook his head and whispered, “No. I’m not leaving her!”

Benjamin stepped through the room with Chloe and began to pull Colton away. I cried out for him, not wanting him to leave. My heart monitor began to speed up as Colton fought against Benjamin. My hand tightened around his, holding on for dear life.

“Benjamin!” Dr. Alvarez growled, “Get him the hell out! She’s flatlining—”

“Don’t leave m—” I whimpered, my eyes rolling to the back of my head as I blacked out.
