CHAPTER 162

CHAPTER 162
Lucas doesn't know how he got here, tied to a chair. One moment he's parking his cars at the hospital parking lot, and the next moment, he's knocked out, only to open his eyes and find himself here, in this uncompleted building.

He groans as he feels his head pounding like a war drum. The first thing he registers is the cold—concrete floor, then the ache in his wrists, twisted painfully behind his back, and the tight bite of rope cutting into his skin and lastly, the sight of Lucien with one leg resting against the wall, a cigarette trapped between his lips, and a gallon of fuel standing on the ground beside his standing foot.

Lucas's breathing instantly quickens, and he struggles against the ropes, but obviously, they refuse to budge. Lucien's lips curl into a smirk.

“Missed me, princess?”

Lucas can feel his heart beating so fast right in his ears. His breathing gets even faster as Lucien pushes himself off the wall and approaches him, slowly, tauntingly, almost like a predator circling around his prey.

“It's already getting so late. Glad you're finally awake. We won't want your knights in shining armor coming here to save you.” He slowly squats in front of him and then chuckles.

“No one can save you from me, not this time, not ever. We will finally be together, Lucas. Like always.” He reaches out to clench his face, squeezing and digging his fingers in roughly. “I promise that it won't be like last time. This time, we will stay together forever. Death will keep us together.”

Lucas's eyes go vast as a dark, sinister laugh erupts out of Lucien's throat. His eyes are unrecognizable, as if Lucas is staring right at the devil.

“Let me go,” he says, not pleading yet his eyes are stinging with tears as he catches sight of the petroleum at the side. Guess, he is still miserable at masking how weak and pathetic he is in front of Lucien. Even after so many months apart, there hasn't been much change on Luca's side. “Please, let's not do this again. I'm getting so tired of this.”

“Shhhh,” Lucien hushes him, pressing a finger over his lips, wearing that maniacal smile again.

“I'm getting tired of this too. That's why I am going to end this now. We will be together, maybe not in this life but in the next.” He taps Lucas's lips before getting up to his feet.

He walks back to the gallon and picks it up, raising it as a display.

“I have everything planned here. This will keep us bound forever.”

Lucas's eyes burn brighter with tears as he realizes the meaning behind Lucien's words.

“But why, Lucien?” The question is stupid and obvious, yet it leaves Lucas's lips thoughtlessly. “Why do you have to be so fucking obsessed with me? You could be with anyone else, have a normal life and be happy, why do you have to make both our lives miserable?”

Lucien’s pupils dilate. “Don’t you fucking understand? We are meant to be together.”

“You are fucking insane!” Lucas yells.

“Yes, I am!” Lucien yells back. In a wink, he's in front of Lucas again, leaning down and grabbing his face, this time brutally and making sure his nails dig in deeper.

“I am this crazy because I am so fucking in love with you, Lucas. It's you, and it will always be you. I won't love anyone else, and you do not get to be with anyone else. We are meant to be together, and I will make you see it!”

Lucas shakes his head, tears rolling down his face. “You are not in love with me; you are obsessed! You are sick in the head, Lucien. You need help. Let me go, and we can help each other. We can heal together. Don't do this!”

The laughter erupts slowly with the shaking of his shoulders, then it rips out of his throat, filling the space. He lets go of Lucas's face and throws his head back. The sound is chilling. “You keep calling my love an obsession.”

“Isn’t it an obsession? For all the years we dated, you did nothing but hurt and make my life miserable. All I wanted was a normal life, but you took that away from me.” Lucas counters, choking out a sob because that's the only thing he can do, tied up in a chair, unable to move or fight back.

“So, who do you think is going to give you that normal life you so fucking desire? Sebastian or is it Trent?” Lucien laughs again, then loses the cap of the gallon. “You shouldn't worry too much about them because they are going to join us. But even in hell, I won't let them get anywhere close to you.”

With a smirk, he drenches the floor with fuel, pouring it at every corner, even on Lucas's body till it's empty, before throwing it at the corner and taking out a lighter from his pocket.

Lucas's heart has never beat so fast as fear grips every part of his being, his face more soaked with fresh petroleum than his salty tears.

“Please, Lucien. Don't do this. Please,” his voice finally turns desperate as Lucien flicks the lighter on and off tauntingly. He laughs.

“Don't worry, I have waited so long for this moment. I am willing to wait a few more hours. I will let them die before us, and then we can join them. What do you think? Great plan, right?” He pulls his hand into his other pocket and takes out a phone—Lucas's phone.

“What are you doing?” Lucas demands.

Lucien smirks. “Calling your knights in shining armor. I want them to join us. I already said that.” He flashes the screen of the phone at Lucas's face, which immediately goes pale as he sees Lucien has dialed Trent's contact.

“Lucien, this is between us. If you want to kill me, then go ahead. Please, don't drag him into this. I'm begging you, Lucien!” Lucas wails.

“Kill you? Where is the fun in that?” He says as he brings the phone to his ear while Lucas screams in angst.

Lucas didn't know when he fell unconscious. He regains consciousness with gentle taps on his face, and when he finally makes sense of what's in front of him, he finds Trent.

Lucas is immediately struck with shock and panic as he looks around, finding Lucien nowhere in sight.

“You need to get out of here, Trent! Please. He's going to kill you.”

“I'm not leaving here without you,” Trent yanks a little blade from his boot and cuts through the ropes binding Lucas's body.

“What the hell is going on, Lucas? How did you get like this?”

Lucas can barely think straight or comprehend the question as he continues to look around rapidly. “Please, Trent, you shouldn't be here!”

Once the ropes are loose from his body, Trent helps him to his feet. He holds both sides of his face, steadying his face to look at him, meeting Lucas's fear-filled and tearful eyes.

“I'm going to get you out of here, and you can explain everything to me. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise.”

Lucas shakes his head.

“You don't understand. You shouldn't have come here, Trent. I'm sorry.” Lucas chokes out a sob, just in time as he hears tauntingly slow footsteps before Lucien shows up from nowhere.

Both of them reel sharply, Lucas's eyes widening when he sees the gun hanging low in Lucien's grip.

“You showed up faster than I expected. You must really love him. But guess what? No one gets to be with him, except me. Don't worry, we will meet again in hell.”

With that devil-like grin, Lucien raises the gun, and his finger reaches for the trigger.

Lucas's eyes widened. “NO!” he screams as he tries to push Trent out of the way, but Trent is faster. He grabs Lucas by the arms and shoves him hard, and BANG!

The sound of the gunshot rings through, and Trent immediately goes still as pain shoots through him, and blood soaks through his shirt where his heart is located. His blood splatters on the floor.

“TRENT! NO!” Lucas screams as he scrambles off the floor and hurries to Trent, catching him before he hits the floor.

“Please, please, please,” he sobs as the blood pours profusely. He presses his hand against it, trying to stop the bleeding, but the blood forms big pools on the floor.

Trent chokes on his blood. “I-I-I…” he chokes out, his eyes growing heavier and heavier. “Don't regret it,” Lucas says.

“I'm not worth it! Please, TRENT!” He screams as Trent's eyes slowly shut till he goes limp in Lucas's arms.

“TRENT. AHHH! PLEASE!” he cries loudly, shaking the big tattooed boy to open his eyes.

Lucien still has his gun raised, pointed at Lucas, whose cries only get louder. He once again pulls out the phone from his pocket and smirks.

“Next up, shall we?” he says. “Let's see how fast Sebastian comes running.”
