Chapter 27

There was that one time when the longing consumed me and I couldn’t stay away any longer, so I sneaked into her sleeping chambers when she thought that it was her ladies maids.

When I heard that she rang the bell to summon the maids, I ordered them not to enter her chambers and sent them off on some other tasks at hand. So, I sneaked in at their place instead.

She did not know it was me, and I was grateful for that, because that meant I could stare at her a little while longer. She was waiting for the maids to help her get undressed, and I couldn’t help but move forward.

Her beauty compels me, taking away my will to think clearly. Without haste, I started to loosen the laces of her corset dress. My fingers gently graced the soft skin of her back, and I had to grind into my teeth to prevent myself from ripping her garments off. I already knew it was a mistake to enter her chambers without her knowing, but I wanted to see her. I wanted to be in her presence. I wanted to catch a whiff of that sweet, delicate scent of hers. But when she walked into the bathing chambers with that sheer robe with her perky breasts on display with nothing but sheer fabric gracing at the tips of her nipples, making them perk out even more, it made me want to go insane.

The sight of her lush body on display set my blood ablaze.

Fuck, she drove me mad!

I wanted nothing more than to do unholy delicious things to her in that bathing chamber. I wanted to know what her screams would sound like when I thrust into her wet, silky heat and tasted her passionate moans on my lips. I wanted the pleasure I gave her off the chamber walls. I wanted her warm skin against mine. I longed for her, for that feeling of the utter total destruction of my restraint in her arms.

However, I wanted her to want it just as ferociously as I did. I wanted her to give herself freely to me.

I refused to give up, refusing to accept that she was gone, so I tuned in once more, but this time there was a glimpse of an image—an image of a dark stone floor. The vision is blurry, so I can’t make out much, then suddenly the image changes and I get a glimpse of a hand with bruises on the wrists. It’s not a man’s hand because the hand was small and delicate, and then it hit me! That petite, porcelain-like skin is none other than Meara’s hand.

"WWhat are you doing?” Deon’s voice came unexpectedly from the door, interrupting my concentration.

“ Shit!” I shout frustrated.

“ What?” Deon rushed to my side.

“ I saw her. I fucking saw her. I don’t know how but caught a glimpse of her.”

“ Could you make out where she was?” I shook my head and grab a fist full of my hair out of frustration.

“ How did you do that, how were you able to see her?” He asked eager, but I couldn’t explain it myself.

“ I don’t know how. I was trying to calm myself by listening to my heart, but then I heard a faint beat of another heart beating faster than mine, but I lost the connection, and when I tried again I got a glimpse of her hand with bruises on it. It looked like they tried to restraint her. She was on a cold dark floor.” My throat goes tight explaining it to Deon. The expression on his face went pale and cold.

“ I can’t sit here any longer and rest Deon. We have to find her before it is too late.” Deon sighs and starts pacing up and down in the room.

“ It is a bit far- fetched.” He said suddenly and stopped pacing. “ If we leave now we would make it to Calenthe in two and a half days.” I rase a brow.

“ just do me one favor.” He added. “ Please apologize to Cassandra. Now, I know you have done nothing wrong, but she feels that you have wronged her in some way by declining her proposal.”

“ She knew very well that I was not interested in marriage, she was the one who wanted more, who insisted that I give her more.”

“ I know, I was there… But please, if we are going to ask for her help, we must make piece.” I huffed.

“ Fine.” I said firmly. I would do anything if it would help find Meara.

( Meara )

A knock on the door is what brought me back to consciousness. The door opening made me jump slightly, I turned to see who it was, praying it wasn’t Kyrell, but instead, a tall dark blood shade main, devilish prick walked in. It was Kyrell’s son with the same pronounced jaw. However, his was defined and slightly stubbled, adding to his arrogant look. Those grey eyes, glistening with cold attentions.

His lips tilted in a dark sneering smile, complementing his buckled leather outfit with a ruby fastened cape. Normally it is Madam Windfield who knocks before entering.

His lips widened as he saw me laying on the floor. His face resembles nothing other than mischief and deceitfulness, and his hair matched the facade.

Cassie mentioned something about him being sadistic, but I tuned that part out because I was hung up on the details of the Harvesting. I closed my eyes fast at that thought.

“ What do you want.” I said as I tried to stand up from the ground.

“ I see that my father had his way with you last night.” I did not respond to his remark. Let him think what he wanted to.

“ I thought that you and I could have a little talk.” My brows narrowed.

“ Look, I am nothing like my father. I saw him entering here the other day, and I have seen you through the window a couple of times while riding Bree.

“ Who is Bree.” I forced myself to ask.

“ My Thestral.” I did not ask what it was, but I assumed it was that demon-like thing he flew off on the day they captured me.

“ You actually named that Hideous thing?” He walked closer to me.

“ Yes, why not.” I shivered at that thought. We had spirit animals and they had demon-looking creatures.

“ How long have you had that Thestral as a pet?”

“ A pet?” He raised a brow, and I realized that they must not have pets around here.

“ A companion, or friend, if you could call it that.”

“ Ever since I was born.” I stayed quiet. Did not know what to say to him.

“ Why are you here.” I changed the subject.

“ I just wanted to pop in and see how you are doing after the Harvesting yesterday. You looked rather pale after we returned… And I also wanted to say, if you ever needed anything, I am here to help.” What could he possibly help me with. I know very well what his attention are, and I don’t believe this façade he is putting on.

“ I am quite fine, thank you very much.” I snap back.

“ I can see that.” He smiles, showing his pearly white canines. He has almost the same body structure as Kaden except for the hair. His was deep red, like over ripe cherries or strawberries. And then there were these shadowy grey eyes they all of them had, except for Cassie and Madam Morgana.

“ Well then, I best be off.” He turned and walked away, leaving me wandering what it was he really wanted, because I doubt he was here to lend a helping hand. He is up to something, and I can feel it.

( Kaden )

“ Kaden!” Deon screamed. “ Just run!” A huge, ugly mouth with fangs snapped my way. I ducked and missed the Lycan just by an inch.

Another one latched itself to my back and pulled me in their direction. More appeared out of nowhere. It was unusual for so many Lycan’s to be together in a pack and this far off from their home lands. More of them started to snap at me, sinking their teeth into me, and a growl escaped my mouth.

Deon released his fire on some of them, and it barely released me. He dove and blew on more. The minute the others pulled back, I manage to summon my powers, and I release thousands of lightning bolts. The entire area lit up in deadly glowing spears. The Lycan attached to my back was hit by one of the spears, slicing it in two, leaving the head latched onto my back. It stung like a Mother with agonizing pain.

“ Time to retreat!” I shouted through the pain.

Deon’s plan to take the shortcut through the abandoned forest to reduce our travel in half was frustratingly poor. We could have been badgered before we even reached Calenthe.
