Chapter 22

wooden door came into view. With a hall as long as this one, you would think that there would at least be more than one door here.

Madam Windfield reached into the side pocket of her dress, pulling out a big old rusty key. The key definitely looked straight out of the medieval era. To think of it, everything I have seen so far looks like it came out of that era. She used the key to open the wooden door and gestured for me to go inside.

"TThis will be your sleeping facility until the king has decided if he wants you as his mistress or a maid.”

“ Mistress?” I asked shocked.

“ Yes, Mistress. Like his own little play thing to blow off steam with. Surely you know why you are here?” Her words left me speechless. I don’t know if I heard her correctly, or if my mind was clouded by judgment. She looked me up and down and huffed, leaving and locking me in the chamber.

The chamber wasn’t much better than the dungeon back at Valtor, but at least it had a proper bathroom and an actual bed. It was still a hard pill to swallow thinking that this is my reality. I feel broken without Merilla, like a huge part of me had died with her, and it wasn’t just a mental part, it was physical. I felt different than before, like I have less emotion towards what was happening with me at this moment. I should be kicking and screaming, fighting for my life, doing whatever was necessary to escape this hell hole, but I had no will to fight.

A soft knock on my door made me lift my head from the pillow. Why they bother knocking baffled me, because whoever it was had the key. After a few moments of silence, I heard a key turning in the door and then a young girl, looking younger than me entered with a tray of food. I got out of bed and watched her as she placed the food on a dresser against the wall.

“ I was ordered to bring you some food.” She said before leaving and locking the door behind her again. I walked over to the food, looking at the small bowl of stew and piece of dry bread. I Should be hungry, but I wasn’t. instead, I stared at the tray of food and went back to the bed.

Later that day, the young girl returned and drew me a bath. She didn’t say a word, she didn’t even bother introducing herself to me or show any kind of interest in having a conversation, but she was a great help.

I took the bath she prepared for me, and when I was finished, she helped me get dressed in a black princess gown. It looked old and worn out with stains at the bottom hem, like it was worn before. This entire kingdom was so messed up. What happened to this place that this darkened cloud lingered over it like a hopeless gloom, as if all life and joy has been sucked from its core, leaving behind nothing but rot and the shadowy darkness of sadness, hate and bedrail.

“ The king will be here a little later.” That was all she spoke before leaving again.

I paced up and down in my sleeping chambers, waiting for this king to arrive. I did not know what to expect, and was definitely not looking forward to meeting him. A rattle noise coming from the door made me face the door, ready to face this king of theirs, but it was Madam Windfield instead.

“ Come.” She ordered and I followed. The long waiting made me want to get this done with.

She led me through the castle and out huge open doors to the back side of the castle where an old veranda stood. The view of acres of land wasn’t as beautiful as I’d hope it would be. Too many dried-out lands with creepy looking trees. It reminded me of a bad dream you would get in the middle of the night and wake up panting out of breath.

It is not until I heard footsteps behind me when I peeked over my shoulder and catch sight of this dark figure. It is him all right. I didn’t believe my eyes as a shiver went down my spine as realization sunk in. My eyes met with his blood red gleaming eyes, with these big dark metallic crown peeking out above his head. There is no way that it could be anybody else then this King they all have been mentioning.

In horror I took in his high sharpened cheekbones, with sunken in cheeks that looked like a corpse that had started to decay as all the moisture was drained from its skin. His skin was almost grey, resembling the darkness lingering over this kingdom. His entire was this dark pointy leather trench coat that went high up behind his neck with a deep red undercoat, giving off real Dracula vibes. Everything about him screamed evil. I did not dare to look into his eyes, afraid that he might gaze into my soul and rip it out. I turned my head back , but I could still feel his gleaming eyes gazing at me with my back turned to him.

“ Your Majesty.” Madam Windfield curtsy’s

“ What do you have here Madam Windfield, new meat?” He asked in a deep low voice, so deep it made me flinch.

“ Yes, Madam Morganna dropped her off for you.”

“ Madam Morganna outdone herself this time.” He said in that deep rumbling voice of his. He approaches closer from behind me, but I keep my gaze fixated in front of me staring off into the nothingness of this kingdom.

“ Turn around so I could take a better look at you.” He roared. My feet stood frozen in place. I did not want to look into those gleaming eyes again. It would take every ounce in me to not feel revolted by his appearance.

“ Don’t make me ask again!” He shouted violently. I flinched again from his outburst but obeyed his order. Slowly, I turned, but kept my eyes to the ground. He reached out, gripping my jaw in his tight clutches, and abruptly turn my face side to side, inspecting me like livestock up for auction.

“ Open your mouth!” He insisted. I did not respond to his order immediately so his grip got tighter around my jaw, making it feel like my jaw was about to crack. I refused to make as much a yelp leave my mouth, so I grind on my teeth instead. I am one hundred percent certain that the marks from his fingers will be imprinted across my jaw like footprints stamp into freshly fallen snow. He lowered his face down to my neck, taking in my scent and I must fight the urge to throw up.

“ I can’t wait to hear your screams when my cock breaks you open.” He snarled in my ear.

“ I guess you will be waiting a while then.” The words left my mouth, and I instantly regrated it. My bottom lip quivered, so I bite down on it hard. He gives a deep bone-chilling laugh, and suddenly stopped. His eyes darkened with rage. From the deepened look in his eyes, I could tell that I have crossed a line.

‘ SMACK!”

White hot searing pain slashed across my face as he slapped me across the face so hard my teeth rattled, and as I fell to the ground, he struck me again, only this time a blow to my gut that ripped the air from my lungs. The warm blood trails down my lip, dripping onto the stone paving and giving it the splash of color this place lacked.

“ Did you hear that Madam Windfield. Someone needs to learn her place.”

“ She is your Majesties, to do with as you please.” Madam Windfield said coldly.

“ You heard Madam Windfield. You are mine to do as I please.”

“ Madam Windfield, would you be so kind as to escort her to her new sleeping chambers down at the dungeons.” Madam Windfield nodded and helped me up from the ground. I couldn’t help but think what a sadistic evil scoundrel this king was.

Madam Windfield led me into the castle and down steps that looked like we were going into a basement, a dark cold basement made of stone. It reeked of rotten sewerage water and death the deeper we went in. Covering my nose with the sleeve of my dress didn’t help prevent the stench from entering my nostrils. It was dark and cold, and my sight was scarce, so a followed the sound of Madam Windfield’s steps. She made a sudden stop, causing me to bump into her.

“ In here.” She said.

“ It is a little hard to know where you are gesturing too, if I can’t see a thing.” I feel a small hand wrap around my arm and pulling me to the left.

“ This is where you will be sleeping until the king decides to see you again. Maybe next time you would think before opening that pretty little mouth of yours.” She says abruptly before closing what sounded like metal rod doors you would find in prison. Her footsteps echoed against the stone walls as she climbed the steps back up to the castle, leaving me behind in this cold wretched place.
