Two weeks has gone by, and I have been practically through every book of previous elementals who gave birth twenty years ago. I even started delving into the records of elementals who gave birth in the last thirty years, in case they made a mistake with the data entry. Deon has been a huge help. He has been by my side the entire time, helping me go through all the records. If I had to be honest, he has been a great help. I don’t know how far I would have come if it wasn’t for him.
"MMaybe your parents didn’t go to healers when your mother gave birth to you. They must have had you in secret and left you in the human world so that no one could find out about you, that being the reason why there isn’t an entry for you in the archives.” I sigh in disappointment.
Hearing Deon say that does make sense, but still. Why would they try to hide me unless they didn’t want anyone to know that they had a baby because they already planned to dispose of me in the forest? If it wasn’t for my foster mom, I would probably be dead. I owe my life to her.
"YYour Highness?” Zaden calls to my right, peering away from my deep thoughts. The last two weeks I have come, except for the fact that they have called me Highness. There is no use arguing with them.
"IIt is time for your training, your highness.” Zaden says, gesturing to his wrist like there is an invisible watch.
"II am coming.” I give him a polite smile and place the book of records on the table in front of me. Zaden has taken it upon himself to become my own personal trainer. The training he gives is tough, but now I am able to summon my power all on my own. Before, it would only appear when I was angry.
Zaden leads me outside of the castle to where the conservatory is, and Merilla is right by my side every step of the way, that is until we had to start with training, then she would make herself scares. The greenhouse is where we have been doing our training for the last couple of days. Before, we would go to the big open grass field at the side of the castle. It was safer there because I didn’t know how to control my magic yet. If there were a moment that I was unable to contain my magic, we would be far away from the guards and castle. Zaden didn’t want the same thing to happen like last time when I left a huge hole in the garden when my powers acted out. If it wasn’t for that same acting out, saving my ass, I would probably not be here right now. So, Thank you to that.
As we approached the conservatory, we could see the glow from a distance as the sun reflects off the glass structure. The entire greenhouse was made of glass, making it completely transparent. Once you step inside, it is like you are transported to a different world. Not that I am already in a different world. This was way different.
Inside the structure are species of plants I have never seen in my life before. Zaden has explained to me that some of this plants can be very dangerous and that I should be cautious, especially for the pretty ones. So, I made a mental note not to touch the pretty plants even though it is very tempting.
“ Is your Highness ready?” Zaden asked excitedly. I’m almost sure he likes this training a tad more then he should.
“ As ready as I will ever be.”
“ Good, now focus on your core where you feel your magic is the strongest.” I nod.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath, exhaling slowly. I focus on the small strand of magic I feel inside of me and follow it to the main source where my magic feels the strongest.
“ Have you find the main source of your power?” I nod, focusing on the strand of magic that leads to my core. The closer I get to the main source, the thicker the strand gets. Once I’ve reached the leading source, I reach out, embracing the cold burning sensation inside of me.
Once I feel the coldness spread into my veins and the burning sensation erupting across my entire body, I hold out my hand and push the wave of burning fire towards my hand.
I open my eyes as the blue flame dances around in the palm of my hand. It is cold and warm at the same time. Physically , it is impossible for ice and fire to co-exist as one because water dulls out fire. But not my blue flame. It is pretty and deadly at the same time, working together as an entity.
“ That is good your Highness. You did it.” Zaden phrases me.
“ It took you half the time to summon it then yesterday.”
“ What should I do with it now.”
“ Direct it towards the dummy.” He points at the dummy far off into the distance. I squint a bit to see where he is pointing at.
“ That far? It wasn’t that far away yesterday.” I say a bit terrified. I haven’t thrown my magic that far before, only from a few feet away.
“ You must learn to throw your powers far enough for when it is ever necessary.” I highly doubt it will ever be necessary form me to use my powers in the human world, but I will try anyway just for the sake of the training. It might come in handy while I am here.
I pull my arm slightly backward, pushing more power into the flame in my hand. I am going to need a lot of power if I am going to throw my frost ball that far away. Frost-ball may sound cute, but once it collides with something, it explodes like a grenade full of trapped fire.
Once it feels like I have gathered enough fire, I push my hand forward so fast that it feels like my arm went with the fire ball. I squint my eyes as the ball of fire flew across the air. Joy fills my insides as I watch my fire ball heading straight for the dummy, but drops few steps in front of it instead. It explodes, spreading the ground with frost. A wave of disappointment rushes through me.
“ Again!” Zaden shouts.
Once more I summon my powers from my core until there is a blue flame dancing in my hand. Only this time, I focus on the cold icy feeling at my core. I close my eyes and draw from that huge cold glazier from within. Once I open my eyes, the flame in my hand turns into a frost ball. I could still see the flame from within the frost. Oddly, the flame doesn’t melt the frost.
“ How are you doing that?” Zaden asked with his mouth gaping open. His eyes fixated on the ball in my hand.
“ I don’t know. I just gathered powers from the cold side of my core.” I say just as surprised as he.
Once again, I pull my arm back and when I am ready, I throw the ball as hard as I could, watching it fly through the air. I wait patiently for the ball to collide with the dummy. The intensity causes for me to bite down on my lower lip. For A split second I close my eyes, and.
BOOM!
The frost ball goes off like a bomb. My eyes flung open, noticing that the dummy is actually on fire.
“ I…I did it.” I say quiet shocked, not actually convinced I did hit the dummy. But then it sunk in.
“ I did it! I freaking actually hit the dummy!” Without realizing, my arms were wrapped around Zaden’s neck. His body stiffens up from under my touch.
“ Oh gosh! I am so sorry….I…Didn’t mean To hug you.”
“ Her Highness doesn’t need to apologize. One is aloud to be happy.”
“ But still. I didn’t mean to caught you off guard.”
“ no harm done.” He gives me a polite smile.
“ Is your Highness ready to try again.” I nod.
Zaden made me practice like that the entire afternoon. By time we were finished, my arm were stiff and sore, and I was covered in sweat. I reeked like old gym socks. By the time I reached the sleeping chambers, I had to get out of that big dress. Unfortunately, getting out of the dress required the help of my ladies maids. I head over to the door where the ropes were dangling. By now, I have memorized what each one of them were meant for, and this time I pull on the correct one. After pulling the bell for my ladies maids, I resume my usual spot behind the room divider, waiting for my maids to come help me out of this ridiculous gown.
