Chapter 190

Chapter 190
David

Once all of the troops were in place, Stormy approached each of her mates, one by one and wrapped her arms around them. She kissed them and drew the symbol of affection for each of them on their chests. David watched as she wished each one of them luck and made them promise to be careful. Finally she used her teleport powers to place each of her mates in their attack position, as the battle loomed.

Stormy saved David for last. After he kissed her forehead, David stepped away from her and transformed into his dragon. She immediately walked over and began to run her hands along his snout. She gave him a final kiss on the nose before she climbed up onto his back.

David careful took flight and watched as Drew and his fae warriors began to bombard the shadow army from the air with their arrows. David noticed Drew was targeting the witches at the center of the camp while being careful not to hit their own strike team, who were also attacking the witches. David was happy to see that they had already taken down two of the three and he was filled with hope.

David approached the first of the dragon bows carefully. He needed to make sure to destroy the target, before they had time to use the weapon on him. As he flew nearer, he noticed it was still in hiding and the enemy considered it to be their secret weapon. The fact it was hidden and not ready to fire, worked to David’s advantage.

As soon as they were near enough to the target, Stormy conjured a huge fireball. It was the largest that David had ever seen her make. He realized that he wasn’t the only one who got a power boost when the pendant was completed.

Stormy was able to use her fireballs and David’s aggressive and evasive flying to take out the first three dragon bows easily. The enemy hadn’t even managed to uncover them before Stormy was already dropping fireballs the size of small cars into the holes.

The shadow warrior archers were busy shooting at David, making it easier for Dean and Nathan to bring in the ground troops from two different directions. Dean, who brought in the largest force through the passage, faced the largest number of enemy. The riverbed was largely unguarded, allowing Nathan to bring many of his most elite wolf warriors behind the shadow warriors.

David and Stormy laughed as she placed a protective bubble over them so that the arrows basically bounced off. David wondered why Mara or Daniel hadn’t attacked, but he had a feeling that they were banking on him not knowing the location of the three remaining bows. He was sure that David’s erratic pattern above the archers was given them a false sense of comfort.

“Moving to site four.” David thought knowing Stormy could hear him. Stormy patted him softly so that he knew she was ready. He took a huge swoop over the archers and made a sharp left. The passed by the fourth dragon bow so fast they looked like little more than a blur. Stormy used her lightning strike and the weapon exploded inside the hole. David noticed that the shrapnel killed the crew.

Witches down Dean said through the new pack type link that formed as a result of their strengthener mate bond.

Standing down the archers, switching to hand to hand Drew linked. David glanced down to see that the Golden army had already infiltrated the valley. The shadow warriors and the Golden troops were now so co-mingled that aerial attacks were become dodgy.

The fae, especially those that could fly began to descend down the hill where they had been stationed. The air around them was swirled with colors as the fae unleashed their magic on the shadow warriors that were charging towards them.

David circled around to take out target number five when he saw a huge spear flying through the air towards him. “Hold on!” He thought quickly as he banked right to avoid the bolt from the dragon bow. He felt Stormy get to her feet and move down his body as they had done many times in training. The fifth bow went up is smoke as she hit it with another fireball.

As David set his sights on the last dragon bow, he saw Mara mount Daniel. His brother took flight with a blank expression as Mara seemed to be urging him forward. David swooped back realizing that going for the last bow would put Stormy in harm’s way.

Damian, I can’t get to the last target. I am leading Mara away, so you can attack. David linked.

The Golden dragon turned and flew away from the worst of the fighting, so that Mara would follow him. He didn’t want her causing unnecessary carnage on the field. As Daniel chased after David, he randomly opened his mouth and blew his ice flame into the middle of the fighting. He killed his own warriors and David’s indiscriminately.

Out of the corner of the eye, David saw Damian float up from his hiding place in the trees. With the crew of the final weapon focused on shooting at David, it was wide open for Damian. He shattered it with a huge shadow ball. As soon as the dragon bow was destroyed, he saw Damian disappear again to wait for his division to be called.

Below him, Drew and Dean were deeply engaged with the enemy. Dean’s lycan form seemed even larger, as lightning sparked across his chest. He took down shadow warriors with his claws like they were made of paper. Drew was alternating between cutting down rogues with his sword and using his fae fire. In just the first part of the battle, at least a third of the shadow army had already fallen.

David sensed that his brother was gaining on him. He had a look of confused fury in his face as he approached. He shot a bolt of ice flame at David, who easily dodged.

The king dropped his speed and dropped back quickly so he was flying parallel to his brother. “Daniel, we don’t have to do this. I love you. Let’s talk about it like we used to.”

Daniel smirked but his eyes looked empty. “I’m going to enjoy killing you.” He hissed in the coldest flattest voice he ever heard.
