Chapter 70

Chapter 70

The person who anonymously posted on Facebook twisted the truth completely, claiming that I "relied on my rich and powerful husband to steal a precious admission spot at Celestial University, when in reality I have no real skills, only sleep and slack off in class, and frequently visit entertainment venues - completely unworthy of Celestial University."

The comments below had already reached hundreds, most of them cursing me out.

[Someone like this deserves to be at Celestial University? Get out!]

[Wasting educational resources, absolutely disgusting!]

I acted like I heard nothing.

I couldn't control this kind of thing anyway. Besides, I was only staying at Celestial University for a while - let them say whatever they wanted.

I glanced at my class schedule and called Andrew to discuss our plans for later. After hanging up, I raised my hand to hail a cab.

Just as I was about to get in the car, several unfamiliar young people surrounded me.

They looked young, with anger written all over their faces.

"Are you Sophia?" A male student pointed at me, his tone agitated. "I studied so hard and still couldn't get into Celestial University. What gives you - someone who didn't even finish high school - the right to get into Celestial University?"

Another female student chimed in: "Someone like you doesn't deserve to be at Celestial University at all. You're just embarrassing the school!"

They got more and more worked up, and someone even reached out to push me.

I instinctively stepped back and looked at them coldly: "Whether I stole a Celestial University admission spot or not, you can ask the school. There's no need to corner me here."

I'm only auditing the class. Why would I take up an admission slot?

"Ask the school? The school will definitely cover for you!" The male student wouldn't let it go. "If you hadn't pulled strings to study at Celestial University, that admission spot might have been mine! You ruined my future - I'm not done with you!"

He was about to rush at me. I was preparing to fight back when a stern shout came from behind me: "Stop!"

I turned around to see James.

I didn't know when he'd arrived. His face was terrifyingly dark, and the atmosphere around him was so oppressive it was hard to breathe.

He quickly walked to my side, shielding me behind him, his eyes coldly sweeping over the people surrounding me: "Who gave you the nerve to cause trouble here?"

Those people were probably scared by James's presence and backed up a few steps.

Still, someone had the guts to question him: "Who are you to butt into our business?"

James let out a cold laugh: "She's my wife. Does managing her affairs count as butting in?"

"You were just slandering my wife?"

His voice was very low and somewhat threatening.

These were all students who had just come of age, not yet out of school. They might have seen James in the news, but they didn't take it to heart.

They had no idea how scary James could be.

"So what if she's your wife? Who do you think you are? No matter how powerful you are, you can't help a tyrant do evil!"

"You rich people only know how to bully us poor people. Let me tell you - don't look down on poor young people!"

"You can say all that to my lawyer."

When those students heard his words, they were so scared their eyes widened with terror.

"You, you're just trying to scare us."

"Go ahead and try - see if I'm just trying to scare you."

Those students couldn't handle the pressure. Scared, they turned and ran.

James: "I'll take you back."

"No need."

"Sophia." He looked at me and continued, "Grandma asked me to bring you back for dinner."

I stared into James's attractive eyes, really unable to find any trace of a lie.

I got in the car with him.

The car was silent.

I leaned against the passenger seat, messaging Andrew.

"So happy - who are you chatting with?"

"Mr. Smith, don't you think you're being too nosy?"

James let out a cold laugh: "Is it Andrew?"

I didn't say anything.

"Then I guess it is."

He suddenly hit the brakes. If I hadn't been wearing a seatbelt, I would have flown forward. I didn't hold my phone properly, and it fell to the floor.

The phone screen was full of Andrew's caring messages and greetings.

I bent down to pick up my phone, not seeing James's dark face. I asked unhappily: "Are you crazy?"

"Sophia, I'm still your husband. You're chatting with another man right in front of me - do you think I'm dead?"

"It's just chatting. Why are you so angry?" I refused to back down: "You used to hug and hold Amelia, and I didn't say anything. What right do you have to lecture me now?"

"A dirty mind sees dirt in everything." I glanced outside the car. "Find a place with water and go wash up ."

James stared straight at me.

His stare made me uncomfortable: "What are you looking at?"

James leaned over. I tried to dodge backward, but my back was against the seat - there was nowhere to go.

In that instant, James seized the opportunity and kissed me.

I tried to dodge, but he grabbed my chin.

This kiss carried a punishing intent - it hurt a little.

I bit down hard on his lip, and the taste of blood spread through my mouth.

I glared at him angrily.

James wiped the blood from his lip and smirked: "Next time you don't speak properly, I'll use this method to teach you."

Somehow, his mood improved. I rolled my eyes and turned to face away from him.

However long the car drove, that's how long I cursed him in my mind.

When we got back to The Smith Mansion, I opened the car door and got out.

Amelia stood at the entrance wearing a white dress, her face showing concern. Seeing me, she quickly walked over: "Sophia, are you okay? I heard from Juniper that you were cornered by people at school. I was so worried about you."

I looked at her and sneered inwardly.

Speaking of people who had it out for me, there were only a few, and this Amelia in front of me wished I were dead. The stuff at school might very well have her fingerprints on it.

But I didn't expose her - I'd play along with her act.

"I'm fine, thanks for caring." I smiled sweetly. "Since you care so much about me, why don't you help me find the person behind it all?"

"Let's see who's so bored they keep giving me a hard time."

Amelia's smile froze for a moment, then she resumed her gentle expression: "Sophia, I know you're in a bad mood, but they're pitiful too, aren't they?"

"Those students worked so hard to get high scores to get into their dream university, only to be pushed out by people using underhanded methods."

"If it were me, I might go crazy."

I raised an eyebrow at her: "You mean that cornering me and cursing me out is justified?"

"That's not what I mean." Amelia quickly waved her hands. "I just think you can't blame them entirely for this. If you hadn’t accepted the offer to audit the class back then, maybe all of this wouldn't have happened."

"So I'm the one in the wrong?" My voice turned cold: "Wrong for accepting Grandma's arrangement to go to Celestial University?"

"That's not what I mean, Sophia, don't misunderstand." Amelia's eyes reddened, looking extremely wronged. "I just don't want to see you suffer."
