Chapter 78

Chapter 78

I felt hotter and hotter, and the air in the car was getting thinner.

His burning hand touched the curve of my chest, and I couldn't help but moan. My body went limp like a puddle of water.

His hand got bolder and bolder, moving lower and lower.

I immediately grabbed his hand: "James, what are you doing!"

James pressed his lips to my ear and said softly, "Sophia, doesn't this feel good?"

As he spoke, he kissed my cheek, and the thing beneath him felt more and more wrong.

"James..." I pushed him, "You're shameless!"

I slapped him across the face. "I'm not that kind of woman. I'm not that easy. I don't like playing these games with you in the car."

James actually wanted to have sex with me in the car, right at the school gate. He's such an asshole!

What did he take me for?

James pushed his tongue against his cheek and chuckled, "Sophia, you don't like it?"

"Your words might fool me, but your body can't."

"You like it too, don't you?"

"James!" I shouted in embarrassment and anger, "Shut up!"

"Sophia, is it so hard to admit you still like me?"

I looked at him coolly: "James, that was just a normal female reaction. I'd react the same way with any good-looking guy."

"If that means I like someone, then there are plenty of people I like."

With every word I said, James's face darkened a bit more.

"James, want to continue?" My hand moved to his chest, skillfully unbuttoning his shirt.

"We're both adults. Even if something happens, it doesn't count."

James grabbed my hand, exploring his chest with a cold face: "Sophia, you think I'm a male prostitute?"

I nodded without hesitation: "Yes."

I leaned in to kiss his neck.

James gripped my shoulders: "Sophia, how dare you!"

I raised an eyebrow and sneered, "Isn't this what you wanted? I'm giving you what you want. What else are you unhappy about?"

As I spoke, my hand touched his lips, and I leaned down to kiss him.

James held my shoulders tight and pushed me away.

I took the opportunity to get off his lap and opened the car door.

I ran far away. Only when I was sure I couldn't see him did I take out my phone to call a ride.

When the car came, I got in. Back home, I lay on the bed, feeling my head getting dizzier and dizzier.

My phone kept ringing. I didn't know who it was, but with my last bit of willpower, I answered.

I didn't speak, only vaguely heard someone talking on the other end.

My eyelids got heavier and heavier, my mind holding onto the last bit of consciousness.

I don't know how much time passed, but I felt someone gently pick me up.

When I woke up again, my nose was filled with the smell of disinfectant.

I couldn't help but laugh. I'd lost count of how many times I'd been to the hospital recently.

"Sophia."

"Andrew." Seeing him, I was a bit surprised. "Did you bring me to the hospital?"

Andrew's face didn't look good. He said reluctantly, "No, it was Mr. Smith."

"I called you, and he answered. He said you had a high fever and were in the hospital."

I didn't say anything.

"I'm planning to rent a place next to yours, so I can look after you. That way you won't end up with a high fever and pass out at home with no one knowing, like today."

"You don't need to move just for me. I can take care of myself just fine."

It took me a long time to talk him out of moving in to stay with me.

Andrew went out to get me food: "Eat something, then take your medicine."

While I was eating, I thought for a long time before asking, "Where did James go?"

Andrew didn't react at first. When he did, he said, "Amelia called him. She said she had a headache and wanted to see a doctor, and asked him to help arrange it."

I acknowledged this.

"Sophia, you..."

"When can I leave the hospital?"

Andrew knew I didn't want to talk about James, so he followed my lead: "You're fine. You can leave in a bit."

I nodded.

After the IV and temperature check, Andrew helped me with the discharge. Back home, I closed my eyes and slept hard.

When I woke up again, it was already the next afternoon.

I woke up with a start.

I had class today, and I'd slept through it. I didn't go to class or ask for leave. I was screwed!

I rushed to school and made it just in time for the last class.

I bent over and randomly found a seat by feel.

"What a coincidence."

I looked up: "Sidney, I didn't expect to be sitting next to you."

"Weren't you resting at home because you weren't feeling well?"

I pointed at myself: "How did you know I was resting at home?"

"The teacher asked me to keep the attendance sheet. He told me you'd asked for leave."

I was confused: "Who asked for leave for me?"

"You'll have to ask the teacher about that."

"You stop chatting. Keep it up, and your heads will be touching."

I immediately sat up straight.

Sidney also straightened up.

After class, Sidney and I walked side by side.

"Where are you going?"

Sidney thought for a moment before answering: "To the library to do homework."

"There's homework today? What homework?"

He told me what homework to do and invited me: "Want to come along?"

I nodded.

As soon as I sat down, I pulled out my laptop and started on the homework.

I'd barely started when my computer suddenly froze.

This laptop was recently bought. It couldn't be broken.

Unless someone deliberately did this.

I immediately thought of that person and started up the computer to track them back.

The person was cunning and got away again. Their last location showed they were in the library.

What a coincidence!

I scanned around. There were lots of people in the library. I couldn't tell which one it was.

If I guessed from a technical angle, that person should be a computer science student.

At a specific time, in a specific place—filtering this way would be faster.

Screening by these conditions, there was only...

I looked at the person in front of me—Sidney.

He was staring intently at his computer, his hands constantly moving.

It shouldn't be him, right?

We'd just come in not long ago, and that person had sent a virus to crash my computer.

"Have you finished the webpage design homework the teacher assigned? Let me see."

Sidney shook his head: "Need a bit more time. I'll show you when I'm done."

I acknowledged and continued pretending to do homework while secretly watching him.

School was a place where rumors flew everywhere.

Being so close to an unfamiliar guy, there were bound to be rumors.

Nasty words drilled into my ears one after another. I didn't care, but someone deliberately made things worse. Someone even secretly took photos of Sidney and me eating together and discussing problems. The angles were tricky, making us look especially intimate.

Those photos were posted on the school forum and quickly shot to the top of the trending list. They spread at an alarming speed.
