Chapter 50
Amelia cried out in alarm, bent down, and grabbed my hand hard while secretly applying force, with a worried expression on her face. "Sophia, does it hurt a lot? That shouldn't be. Isabella is just a child, she doesn't have much strength."
Her words stopped abruptly. "Of course, if you're really in pain, I'll go get a doctor for you right now."
While saying she'd get me a doctor, she kept pinching the flesh on my hand hard.
My stomach already hurt from being kicked, and now it hurt even more, cold sweat breaking out on my forehead.
James saw my pale face and knew I wasn't faking. He pulled Amelia aside. "Amelia, don't block the way. I'll take her to see a doctor."
His hand went under my legs, picked me up, and took me to find a doctor.
I was in too much pain to have any strength, could only lean against him, catching a glimpse of the twisted hatred in Amelia's eyes.
If I wasn't hurting so badly right now, I would have slapped Amelia across the face already.
The doctor examined me, prescribed some medicine, and told me to lie down and rest to recover.
I didn't know if it was the medicine working or if I finally recovered, but my stomach stopped hurting.
Looking at my completely colorless face, James's eyes darkened.
He spoke apologetically, "Sophia, Isabella doesn't know any better. I'll talk to her properly and make her apologize to you."
I laughed coldly. "No need."
"If you're going to take her side, then you don't need to stay here bothering me and disturbing my rest either."
That one sentence shut James up. His thin lips opened and closed, then pressed together. "I'll go now. Rest well."
I closed my eyes and lay in bed for a while. Feeling that my body was okay, I went back to the hotel.
I hadn't slept well last night, so after returning to the hotel, I caught up on sleep.
Andrew called and woke me up. "Sophia, are you awake?"
We had to go discuss a deal today. Worried about missing the time, I'd sent Andrew a message when I got back to the hotel, asking him to call me when it was time to leave.
I quickly got ready and went with him to meet the client.
Everything went smoothly, and the project was finalized on the spot.
Andrew was very happy and said he'd take me for a nice meal. We came back to the hotel only after eating out.
We parted ways at the elevator. As I was getting my room card, I felt a chill down my back.
Before I could turn around, a hand covered my mouth, grabbed me around the waist, and dragged me into another room.
I struggled, trying to break free from his grip.
The person kept holding my hands tightly, not letting me escape.
In the chaos, he pressed me against the door. My back hit the door handle, hurting so much I couldn't help crying out. "It hurts..."
The person ignored me, pressed closer, kissed my lips, his tongue skillfully slipping in to conquer.
The familiar scent immediately told me who it was.
James, this lunatic, what was he going crazy about now?
I hit his shoulders, pinched his waist, trying to make him calm down.
James continued to kiss my lips frantically, his breath spraying on my face, very hot.
The pain in my back and the suffocating feeling of not being able to breathe made tears flow down involuntarily.
Tears ran down my face to the corner of my mouth. I tasted something wet and salty.
James tasted it too.
He finally calmed down, released my lips, and grabbed my chin. "When I kiss you, you feel humiliated. What about when Andrew kisses you?"
I slapped him across the face, turning his head to the side. "What are you going crazy about?"
"James, when did you see me kissing him?"
"Even if I did kiss him, what does it have to do with you? What right do you have to control me?"
In the darkness, James laughed softly. "Sophia, I'm your husband!"
"You think you deserve to call yourself my husband?" I mocked him. "You haven't even fulfilled the basic responsibilities of a husband. What right do you have to exercise a husband's privileges?"
"You mean I haven't satisfied you? So you went out to find that other man." James's tone was suggestive. "Fine, then I'll satisfy you properly tonight."
He reached to unbutton my clothes. I got angry and kicked at him, hitting a certain spot.
James groaned in pain. "Sophia! Are you trying to make me unable to have children?"
I felt a bit embarrassed, my face burning up. I said awkwardly, "Um, sorry, but you started it."
My eyes wandered, not daring to look at him.
James's breathing was ragged. He didn't speak for a long time. I couldn't stand the heavy atmosphere and reached out to turn on the light.
His deep eyes stared straight at me.
I felt guilty. "I already apologized."
"You were pressing on me just now, making me hit the door handle. My back got hurt so badly I cried, and I haven't even blamed you for that."
"At most we're even, okay?"
I'd already backed down. James, being a grown man, shouldn't be so petty as to keep holding this against me.
Hearing my words, he inexplicably laughed. "You cried just now because it hurt?"
I glared at him fiercely. "What else?"
I wasn't Amelia, shedding tears at every turn to frame others.
James's brow relaxed, the corners of his lips curving up. "I see."
"Sorry about just now. I got too worked up. I thought you hated me."
I responded, "I do hate you quite a bit actually."
James took two steps forward. I took a defensive stance.
He directly grabbed my hands and raised them against the door, his other hand caressing my waist. "Do you really hate me?"
My waist was very sensitive, couldn't stand being played with like this. A few soft moans escaped my mouth involuntarily.
James's eyes were intense. "Look at you saying one thing and meaning another. How can I believe you?"
He grabbed my chin and pulled me forward. Embarrassed and annoyed, I opened my mouth to bite his neck, but then I saw a bright red lipstick mark on his collar.
All the heat in my body was instantly drained away. I stared coldly at that lip print. "James, you're disgusting."
James stopped, not understanding why I suddenly cursed at him. "What's wrong with you now?"
I closed my eyes, my voice cold. "If you want to have children, there are plenty of women who can give you children. Why are you still making excuses to drag out our divorce?"
"Stop dragging it out. When the time comes, let's go get the divorce certificate right away, so I can make room for her and save your sweetheart from feeling wronged."
James didn't understand. "What are you talking nonsense about?"
"Do you really need me to spell it out?" I took a breath. Since he wanted to hear it, I'd say it. "If we don't get divorced soon, when Amelia's belly gets bigger, what will people say?"
"Aren't you afraid she'll be gossiped about? She's so fragile, a few words from people could break her."
James's handsome brows knitted together. "Sophia, there's nothing between me and her. You're a woman too. Why do you have to make things difficult for another woman? Can't you two just get along peacefully?"
I laughed in anger.
