Chapter 87 Her boss, and the man she thought of as a brother.
Caspian was not stupid enough to tell Rush what he was going to do. The bodyguard should have just kept to himself, but now he had done two things. He had pulled Caspian back into the fight for Michelle’s heart, and he had made himself a problem Caspian needed to solve.

"My name is Caspian Gannon," Caspian said. "That should tell you all you need to know."

Rush really should have looked into who Caspian was and what he could do.

It was not that Rush had not tried. He had, but he found nothing on Caspian. Still, he was not ready to walk away, not when Caspian refused to back down.

In the end, Rush did not have a choice. If he stayed any longer, Michelle would wonder where he was.

"I do not have time for this now. We will finish this talk later."

Caspian did not answer. He just watched Rush hurry to catch up with Michelle. Then he went back to his table and sat down, thinking about everything that had happened before.

If only he had not been so cold. If he had paid a little more attention to Michelle, so many things would have been clear to him. He might have understood how he felt about her back then.

Caspian had never had to chase a woman in his life. He did not know how to begin, especially after making that promise to Rush.

"Sir, I have the termination papers ready. I need your digital signature," Madison said, breaking into his thoughts.

Caspian took the tablet and looked over the document. His eyes narrowed a little. "We are not giving them a single penny."

"But the agreement says..." Madison started to explain.

He cut her off. "Do you think I care about the agreement after his daughter killed my baby? Take that part out." He went to hand the tablet back, then stopped.

"Never mind. I will do it."

He made a few changes to the letter and then signed it. "Send it right now. If they call, tell them our office is closed."

Madison nodded. She was about to send the email when she decided to read what Caspian had changed.

She was confused. "Sir, you are asking for them to pay a penalty? For our losses?"

"The Gannon Group is not a charity. We lost money because of their fight with the MRAB Group. Did you think I would just absorb that?" Caspian’s stare was so intense it left Madison with nothing to say.

She had thought it was a mistake. She did not realize Caspian meant to destroy the last bit of money the Vance family had left after their battle.

Michelle was a kind person, but Caspian had no mercy. With this demand, Sienna’s father would not even have enough for a good lawyer when he was about to lose everything.

Lake gave his car keys to Madison as she packed her bag. "Drive yourself home when you are finished. I might stay at Caspian’s place tonight."

He could tell Caspian would not be going straight home.

"How am I supposed to get home, then?" Sebastian asked. Both Caspian and Lake just stared at him until Lake finally answered.

"Our deal is done. You are on your own. Whatever you do with your life from now on is not our problem."

Sebastian thought Lake was being childish. "It is just a car and a house. I do not want a hotel room when I have a date with Michelle in two days."

The mention of the date made anger flare up in Caspian, but he kept quiet. He remembered what Michelle had said to Sebastian. In their three years of marriage, Caspian had never once taken his wife on a date.

He wanted to give her the world now, but she already had everything. She felt so far away, and it made him feel like a coward.

"That is exactly why you are not welcome at my place anymore. You can go bother Caspian," Lake said, without any sympathy. Sebastian had been bold enough to bring up his date with Michelle.

"If you will not let me stay with you, then I will stay with Caspian," Sebastian pushed. He was interested in Caspian because the man was so clever.

"You are welcome to try if you can find the address," Caspian replied, his voice cold, jealousy burning inside him. Sebastian just grinned and looked at Madison, getting an idea.

"Pretty lady, would you be kind enough to let me stay at your place? If you do not have a spare room, the couch is fine. I can pay you, or I can buy you a bigger house later."

Madison was about to answer the man she had liked for so long when she felt four cold pairs of eyes lock onto her. Her boss, and the man she thought of as a brother. What was she supposed to do now?
