Chapter 78 Slap her
Chapter 78 Slap her
Sienna stood there, trapped between the two men in her life. Caspian was the one she loved, the future she was clinging to. Sebastian was just a distraction, someone she had used to pass the time until she could have Caspian back.
Sebastian was the one who had chased her, who had wanted her. But the second Caspian walked back into the room, he was the only one who mattered.
She had no idea what they had just talked about, but she saw a way out. If she just pretended Sebastian was a stranger, the whole mess might go away. She took a long breath and turned on the tears, her voice shaking as she looked at Caspian.
“Caspian, what is this? You told me you were meeting a business partner. Is this him? I don’t even know this man. What kind of business is this?”
Sebastian’s mouth fell open. He actually felt the air leave his lungs. He had loved this woman. He had wanted to build a life with her. She had been everything to him, and now she was like a piece of glass in his hand, cutting him deep.
“Sienna,” he said, the name feeling like poison. “You have the actual nerve to stand there and deny me?” The hurt was a physical thing, a raw ache in his chest. He had waited for her, wasted years on her, when he could have tried to make something real with Michelle. “Did you ever think about your daughter? Even once? I was rushing to get to you at the hospital. That is why I crashed my car. And you just… you moved on like it was nothing.”
His voice was breaking. He had pictured this moment so many times, but in his mind, she was sorry. She was begging. Not this. Never this.
“I spent so long blaming my father,” he whispered, the words thick with disgust. “I thought he drove you away. But it turns out you were just a liar.”
Hearing him talk about their daughter made Sienna’s heart pound hard against her ribs. She did not even know what the girl looked like now. None of that mattered. The only thing that mattered was the man in front of her.
“Caspian, please,” she pleaded, her eyes wide and desperate. “Do not listen to him. I am telling you, I do not know him.”
“Tell it to someone who gives a fuck,” Caspian snapped. The sound of his voice was like a door slamming. He had held every one of her lies so close, treated them like they were precious. Now he saw they were just trash. She was just trash. “Was he not the reason you turned your phone off that night?” His eyes locked onto hers, and she had to look away.
Caspian was her only chance. Her father’s company was falling apart, and Caspian could fix it. She could not lose him.
“Caspian, you have to believe me. You are the only man I have ever loved.”
Michelle had heard enough. She had been quiet, listening to this ugly scene, her hand closed tight around her phone. She knew exactly what she needed to play. She tapped the screen, found the place, and turned the volume all the way up.
Sienna’s own voice, clear and cold, filled the space.
‘My boyfriend and I had not broken up when I started talking to you. He found out. He said he would tell everyone unless I spent the night with him. That is why I never came to the party.’
The silence that followed was complete. Sebastian was the first to find his voice, but it was not much more than a broken sound. “Michelle… you knew? Even before we divorced?” The pain was right there, in his eyes, in every word.
Michelle did not even look at him. She did not care what he felt. She did not care what Caspian felt. This was about Sienna. This was about payment. “Your father knew, too,” she said, her own voice empty. “Tell me, Sebastian. If I had told you then, would you have believed me? Or would you have thought I was just trying to make her look bad so you would stay?”
Sebastian looked like she had hit him. He remembered the terrible things he had said to her that day. “I was not… I was not in my right mind then,” he tried to say, but the excuse was pathetic.
“You made your choice,” Michelle said, not a flicker of feeling in her face. “Now live with it.”
Caspian could not bring himself to look at Michelle. The shame was too much. He was not worthy of her. Instead, he turned the full force of his anger on Sienna. “So that night,” he said, each word precise and cold. “The night I sent a plane for you, the night we were supposed to meet… you were with him?”
He was shaking now, a pure, hot rage taking hold. “You were with him before your father even introduced us. And you let me carry the guilt for all of it? For years?”
Sienna saw the change in his eyes and real fear, cold and slick, coiled in her stomach. She started to beg again. “Caspian, she is framing me! Can you not see that? She is still in love with you, she is just..”
“Shut your fucking mouth,” Caspian roared. The anger was a living thing in the room. How had he been so blind? How had he let her lies ruin something real? The fact that she was still lying, even now with her own voice condemning her, made the rage burn hotter and brighter. He turned his head and called out, “Waiter!”
A young man in a white shirt appeared quickly. Caspian just shook his head. “Not you. I need a waitress.”
Mira, watching from a nearby table, leaned in. “What is he doing?” she whispered, confused.
Lake gave a small, knowing smile. “He is going to make her talk. He is going to force it out of her.”
Madison frowned. “If he wants to hit her, why does he need a waitress? Why not just do it?”
“Caspian,” Lake said simply, “would never hit a woman himself.”
Mira glanced at Michelle, a slow smile spreading. “Now I get it. He is doing the dirty work for you.” Michelle’s plan had been quiet, but Caspian was a storm.
A young woman in a server’s uniform hurried over. “Sir?”
“Do you want to make some extra money?” Caspian asked, his voice flat.
“Yes, sir,” she said, nodding fast.
“Slap her.”
