CHAPTER 83

One Of Them Has To Leave

Penelope beamed a condescending smirk at Alexa after indirectly calling her a gold digger, and she was expecting the girl to flare up, but she was proven wrong because the person who replied to her was not the person she provoked.

"Why does she need to milk my favor?" Maurice asked, and Alexa, who was holding her fist in anger under the table and looking for where to punch her anger in, was surprised when she heard Maurice's voice.

Penelope was taken aback by Maurice's words, and it was completely unexpected for her because she doesn't see the man standing up for Alexa.

"What! I mean..she is disturbing you, and not letting you concentrate on the job at hand," Penelope says, trying to correct her stance, but she doesn't think that was going to exonerate her.

The man looked pissed.

"She is my wife! All I have..my time, my money, is all hers! And I don't care what she seems fit to do with it, so long it's for her then I am alright," Maurice says, and the two ladies look embarrassed, but they beam Maurice a smile showing him that they understand what he was saying.

"I am sorry Maurice..I did not know you were going to get angry..I was just worried for you," Penelope says, taking a seat, and Alexa scoffs at hearing her words.

None of her words show that she was worried about Maurice, but instead, it was mocking her.

"You don't have to apologize to me…I am not the one that is offended by your words...you should apologize to my side instead," Maurice says, and Benedicta's eyes twitch after hearing that.

She never thought that Maurice was going to favor his wife over the person he had been searching for all this while...she was flabbergasted.

"Alexa, I'm sorry about earlier. I do not mean to offend you," Penelope apologized, but Alexa just nodded her head not bothering the girl again.

The dining hall went back to silence as the sound of cutlery clanking filled the air. Maurice raised his head to face at the two ladies sitting beside themselves and he got uncomfortable.

His eyes darkened seeing the interaction and he decided to do something about it.

"I don't feel comfortable with you two staying in this house…no matter how I see, it is inconveniencing my wife," Maurice says, taking the napkins to clean his mouth, and the two women who were stuffing their mouths with food stopped and they looked at Maurice like he was just saying something funny.

"What did you mean by that cousin?" Benedicta asked, looking at Maurice and the man shrugged his shoulders.

"You heard me right, I just said the presence of you two in the house at the same time is inconveniencing my wife, so I am saying someone has to leave," Maurice says, and Alexa's eyes glistening with stars hearing that.

She was already sick and of their frustrating hearts of acting like two sisters from hell and she was barely managing to keep her sanity intact.

"Ohhh..about that I think Benedicta would be willing to move out, I mean she can find an apartment close to the company.." Penelope was saying with panic evident in her voice not caring if she was throwing Benedicta under the bus.

"What are you saying, Pen? I mean why should I move out for you…you are the one that is not the family member and I do not see a reason why you should not be moving out instead," Benedicta argued, and the two started debating on who was leaving the house.

Alexa was surprised to see the girls who behaved almost like sisters fighting themselves just because Maurice mentioned one of them moving out.

'Do they like this house that much or is there something else to it?' Alexa thought.

"That's enough!" Maurice bellowed, and the dining hall quietened down.

He was surprised that he just had to do something like that, and the girls would start going for each other's heads.

"I do not need this much noise…just decide who needs to leave, you guys are friends I bet you should figure it out already," Maurice says, and Alexa chuckles hearing that. The scene was satisfying to her.

"We already made a decision," Penelope said, and Alexa's eyes widened hearing that.

'Already? But it doesn't look like they have reached an agreement here' she thought.

Benedicta felt uncomfortable hearing Penelope's words, but she didn't want her true feelings to show as she acted like she was okay.

"About that…I think that needs more thinking, right? I mean it doesn't have to be like that," Benedicta says, and Maurice nods his head telling her that they should give him an answer soon.

Alexa and Maurice left the house, since Alexa said she was going to her mother's hospital, and the man decided to drop her.

The two watched as the car took Alexa and Maurice out of the compound, and the arms that were around each other left immediately. They got distanced from themselves and it was like they were not the two loveable sisters.

"What trash were you saying?" Benedicta asked, facing Penelope and she sighed wondering what the girl was up to.

"You want my cousin to kick me out of the house!" Benedicta screamed, but she stopped when she noticed that the maids around listened to her words so she decided to take her somewhere else.

"Follow me!" Benedicta commanded, but Penelope did not move an inch which surprised Benedicta.

"Are you not moving? Have you lost your mind?" Benedicta asked, glaring at Penelope and the lady just smiled.

"Why should I move? I don't feel like moving at all," she said, and Benedicta huffed in anger.

"If you don't want the security man kicking you out you better follow me right this instant!" Benedicta yelled, walking out but Penelope knew better that she should follow Benedicta.

She unhappily followed her, and she wondered what the girl was going to say.
