CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

A MONTH LATER

Zane sat down in the whirring chair as he allowed the makeup artist to adjust his face as Dylan stood beside him quietly.

“What is it?” he asked with his eyes closed.

“I wanted to ask if the usual flowers seeds should still be imported” Dylan said quietly as Zane nodded.

“Sure. Import them, why are you asking such a thing?” Zane asked as silence lingered in between the two of them.

“Clear out my schedule tomorrow. I and Amanda are taking grandpa out” Zane added as Dylan nodded.

“Yes sir” he added as the interviewer walked towards him and smiled.

“Mr Dylan” she said politely as Dylan nodded his head at her.

“Miss Brenda” Dylan called politely as well.

“Ha, I just want to ask a few questions about President Zane” Brenda said as Dylan nodded his head.

“Please do ask” Dylan replied.

“While interviewing President Wilson, is there any area or anything I shouldn’t casually mention? Or are there some things he doesn’t like? Things I should watch out for?” she asked as Dylan chuckled commending the Brenda in his mind. No wonder she had been winning the female and anchor of the year.

“For President Wilson” Dylan started as he turned to where Zane was seated and sighed softly.

“If this was a month ago, you’ll have to watch out for he, himself but now honestly I don’t know” Dylan replied as Brenda nodded.

“Is there something wrong with President Wilson?” Brenda asked as Dylan chuckled.

“Just make sure your questions aren’t too overbearing. Its takes a snap of his gingers to have not just you ruined; this whole company, whether it is state owned or government owned” Dylan said as Brenda wore a small smile.

“I understand” she muttered as Dylan nodded.

“Thank you” he said as he walked off.

Brenda wore a small smile as she faced Zane who was seated in the chair opposite her. She had never personally met this ice faced President but she had seen him on Tv and heard a lot of rumours about him but for some reason, he looked cool in person and even looked quite likeable. She remembered Dylan’s words as she sighed softly.

“President Wilson, please test your mic, the live would start in about three minutes” Brenda said as Zane adjusted the mic that had wired to the edge of his collar.

“Okay” he said as Brenda nodded.

“Are you ready?” she asked as Zane nodded with an expressionless face.

“Are you ready?” someone asked as Brenda heard a snap as she faced the camera with a full on smile.

“Hello everyone, good afternoon and welcome…..”

Harley swallowed her saliva as she stood up from the sofa and walked towards the dinning to pour herself some water. Her mom walked out of the kitchen and Harley wore a small smile.

“It’s that nice anchor, I wonder who’s on the seat today” the older woman muttered as Harley walked and sat down beside her watching the TV too, even though she had zero intention to watch the show.

But the very next moment, she froze right there on the couch as the other person traduced himself.

“My name is Zane Wilson and I’m the President, CEO and founder of Wilson Corporations” Zane said as Brenda nodded.

“Founder? You founded WC at what age?” Brenda asked.

“When I was 23” Zane replied as Brenda’s eyes genuinely widened.

“23?” She asked in shock and Zane nodded.

“That’s…… that’s crazy” she muttered as the selected audience on the side laughed.

“I mean, at that age; it’s either you were just a fresh graduate from college or you were in your last year at college” Brenda said as Zane nodded.

“I was a fresh graduate” Zane replied as Brenda shook her head.

“I must admit, I admire your courage and your strength. Starting a company at that age without no resources. How did you endure? How did you fare?” Brenda asked as Zane pursed his lips.

“I had a goal in mind so I pushed harder and harder until I got to where I am today and I am still pushing” Zane replied as Brenda nodded.

“Yes. Your hard work has paid off for the pasts even years. You became one of the youngest ever CEO’s in history; I think your hard work has really, really paid off” Brenda said as she smiled.

“So now, you are twenty-nine right?” Brenda asked and Zane nodded.

“In a week actually” Zane replied as Brenda smiled and nodded.

“You are at the prime time of your age and normally at this time of your age; you are supposed to enjoy life, maybe find a girlfriend get married and stuff but I kinda realized that you don’t always follow the trend, so what are you doing now?” Brenda asked as Zane looked sideways while pursing his lips.

“Healing” he muttered as he chuckled.

“We have just launched Wilson Entertainment and we are still trying to adjust in the market, get our artistes settled down and let me adjust to the new environment and working system” Zane added as Brenda glanced at Dylan at the corner of her eyes.

“Still adjusting?” she asked in surprise and Zane nodded.

“Yes, we are still adjusting, as everyone knows we are new to this. This is the first time WC is venturing into this kind of business” Zane replied as Brenda nodded.

“I know. I’m asking you if you are still adjusting because last time I checked, Wilson Entertainment was number on 2 on the biggest and most effective entertainment company at the moment. A lot of artistes are running over to WE to get signed. By the time you guys are done adjusting; are you going to leave any room for any other entertainment company?” Brenda asked as everyone burst into laughter.

“It’s not our fault they aren’t as effective and efficient as the staff at WE. At WC, we have taught every employee the importance of being effective and being efficient. These two are very important while working and besides we are so used to being the number one, being the second makes us feel uncomfortable and like you said, when we are done adjusting there might not be space for other entertainment companies” Zane replied as Brenda smiled as she laughed.

“Hmmmmm…... that’s very important. Efficacy and effectiveness; they have to work hand in hand together” Brenda said as she nodded her head.

“So President Zane, for someone like you; I’m honestly curious, what kind of woman or lady would catch your interest? Or rather what kind of woman do you like?” Brenda asked as Zane raised his head and chuckled.

“She’s 35” Zane replied as everywhere went silent.

“Sorry?” Brenda asked as Zane pursed her lips.

“The woman I like; she’s 35” Zane replied as Brenda raised an eyebrow.

“Wow. She’s 35; that’s about seven years older than you are. So you like older women?” Brenda asked as Zane shook his head.

“Not at all, the woman I like, she just happened to be 35” Zane replied as Brenda folded her arms.

“Wow.. your logic is interesting. So do you want me to tell me what makes this woman so special? I’m sure you realize you’ve just broken a lot of ladies, girls and women hearts by answering my question. I mean you are the number one dream man for every girl” Brenda said as Zane sighed.

“Nothing really. She’s just……. Well…. Permit me to say perfect” Zane replied as Brenda smiled.

“I don’t have an idea who this woman is but I’m jealous. Very, very jealous” Brenda said as everyone burst into laughter.

“Okay well, President Wilson, your journey to the peak of success has been hard and stressful, I don’t really know much but I know that for a young boy as you were then, it must have been very hard. You said you kept pushing and pushing, is there a back story that we don’t know about or there’s something else?” Brenda asked as Zane sucked in a breadth and nodded.

“There’s indeed a back story and even Dylan only knows half of this story and I can’t believe that I’m going to say this story in front of everyone” Zane replied as Brenda glanced at Dylan who was wearing a soft expression.

“President Wilson, we’ll lend you our ears” Brenda said as Zane smiled.

“Thank you very much” Zane muttered as he smiled.

“A year after I started WC, I made two other companies go bankrupt and merged them with mine and that time it caused quite an uproar and everyone is scared of talking about it now in case I make their own company go bankrupt somehow but I’ll saying this here to clarify what had happened six years ago. Both companies were my parents to begin with and so what was mine from the onset; I just took it back” Zane said.

“Your parents?” Brenda asked.

“Yes. Sels Corporations and Sels Subseries were owned by my parents”
