CHAPTER 191
LUÍS
I never imagined witnessing something so sad to see a girl so young and full of life give up on her life and unlike what many must be judging her, I don't judge her, I feel compassion for this girl and I feel bad to think that I will have to tell my wife and my daughter what happened and even more to the parents of this poor girl. I know that she was never an angel and even took Luna's mind off of her, but everything that she has been going through in the last few months is not for everyone.
To stand in front of my daughter and my wife telling her what happened was terrible, Alice reacted well, was sad of course, we already had the girl in our lives for a month and we were getting used to the idea of raising the baby as if it were our grandchild. But Luna fell apart in such a way that I didn't imagine it would be like this. After all, they were not even friends so Luna was being supportive of her, but they lived on a war footing. But I ended up discovering that deep down they both liked each other a lot, they learned to respect and love each other and Luna was super involved with the baby that would be hers.
Tom organized the whole wake, which was simple and very intimate, and I provided the jet to pick up her parents. So the ceremony was two days later and for the first time in history we closed our agency for five days, out of respect for Sol who was our employee and for the mourning that my daughter was going through.
Alice called her therapist and asked her to come home to help her tell her country that she was dead and to talk to Luna who was not well. Matteo was nervous, poor Matteo didn't know what to do to console Luna. Even the children were calmer these days and could feel the bad atmosphere. It is always very sad to lose someone but it is different if you go to a wake because the person has been sick for a long time, in a hospital, in an accident or even murdered. They were sad to see Luna in the corners crying.
Sol's father reacted in the worst way imaginable and tried to blame me and Alice for what happened to his daughter, claiming that we did not know how to take care of his daughter that he had entrusted his daughter to us to take care and Alice ended up losing patience and saying unnecessary things like :
Alice - You didn't know how to take care of your daughter, to give her a good education, you treated her all Carmen like a Malibu Barbie when she got poor, the poor thing was disoriented and that monster ended her life, and what did you do? Nothing, you didn't give the support your daughter needed. My husband and I did what we could for her. We gave her a home, a job, a family and accompanied her to all of her medical appointments. What did you do for your daughter even beyond donating her sperm to your wife?
The man was simply furious and wanted to advance on her, it became crazy and of course I'm not one for fighting and would never let her lay a finger on my pregnant wife?
Carmen - Enough, stop it Jorge, so that you don't see what you are doing, this family has only helped our daughter and Mrs. Alice is right, you did nothing. You never did anything for your daughter. You thought that giving thousands of gifts and several unlimited credit cards was enough. But I'm sorry to tell you it wasn't enough. So have a minimum of common sense and shut your filthy fucking mouth if you don't know how to be grateful to this family I am and I ask a thousand pardons from you and thank you for doing what I, as it was, didn't do.
Alice - No need to thank Mrs. Carmen, it's not your fault that your husband is an idiot.
Carmen - I should have been firm, I had to be with my daughter, take care of her from the first moment, go to every appointment, show her that I loved her. I will never forgive myself for not taking care of my daughter and my grandson or granddaughter.
Luis - You are nervous, don't say that, your daughter knows how much you loved her. She always spoke very highly of you, don't feel guilty. You have just arrived and need to rest a bit, we have left one of the rooms ready for you, but if you want a hotel I can take you there myself
Jorge - Great, that's the best thing, let's go soon.
Carmen - we will stay here, with what money are you going to pay for the hotel, you worthless fool? You don't have anything else - luckily they sent the jet, otherwise you wouldn't be able to come and say goodbye to my daughter.
Alice - Don't worry Carmen, if you want to stay in a hotel we'll sort it out, won't we love you?
Alice - But of course, maybe you would like more privacy.
Carmen - I appreciate it, but I prefer to stay here and after the ceremony I would like to go to where she was living where she lived her last seconds of life
Luís - I don't think this will be good for you, it's very sad, just imagine for you who are the mother.
Carmen - I need it, I need it to understand my daughter, what happened to her.
Matteo - Mrs. Carmen I think you don't need to go there to understand that your daughter left this letter for you
Carmen - taking the letter and hugging her - oh my daughter why did you do this ? Why my baby? I can't believe my little ray of sunshine that you are gone
Luis - please Matteo show them the room, I'll make them a soothing tea and deliver it to them
Matteo goes up to the guest room with them and I provide the tea for them.
The ceremony was no different, Mrs. Carmen cried a lot, it was heartbreaking to see her suffering, Jorge suffered in his own way, but as they say, a mother is a mother. We gave them all the support we could and took them to my apartment where she lived for a month, got her belongings to take away the next day they went with my jet back to London and we were trying to return our lives to what they were before we had Sol in our lives as much as we knew it would be impossible she had left marks for the rest of our lives. When I say scarred it is not by the death itself, but as the union, she and my daughter came together at the worst moment of her life and managed to connect and find much in common, she had a strength of will at work, she had an energy that many who were there with us for years did not have. We learned from her that help comes from where we least expect it and that we always have to be supportive of others. After all, we never know what another feels or lives. That we should never judge others.
