Chapter 25

After Torin had exited his room, I had quickly followed and spent the rest of the day tending bar. The day was slow as a large portion of the members were gone on a run, and by the time I washed off the bartop and placed the last washed and dried shot glass back in place, they still hadn't returned. As I'd left the bar, Ginger had called behind me, "Have a good night, Mar," and I'd returned the salutation.

After entering my room, I'd showered, and then fell into bed, slipping into a dreamless sleep.

As the sun rose the next morning, I pushed the blankets off my legs, and standing I stretched, relieving the tightness, the night had brought, then made my way toward the bathroom.

When I’d finished my morning ritual, having scrubbed my teeth, and raked at the snarls in my hair, I made my way out of my room and headed toward the common room, finding it filled with only a few members this early in the morning. The essence of freshly brewed coffee teased my senses, and I followed the aroma to the kitchen, where with a sigh of contentment, I grabbed a cup, and poured the dark brew into its depths. Once I’d added my usual amount of creamer and sugar, I raised it to my lips, taking a sip. Pleased with its strong flavor, I glanced at a barstool, considering whether to sit, but decided against it. Since coming to the bomb shelter, I had stayed cooped up inside more often than not, and this morning, the thought of remaining indoors was unappealing.

As I passed through the common room, I noticed Tonya sitting on one of the couches and waved in her direction, seeing her wave back as I continued moving forward across the room. When the foyer had been renovated into the club’s common room, the sliding glass doos had been replaced by heavy metal ones, and the large plate glass windows most motels displayed, were replaced by long narrow ones; large enough to allow sunlight in, but not so large a body could climb through. When the remodeling had been done, security for the club had been kept in mind, but as well had the need to not feel as if shut in a dungeon. When the motel had first been designed, flooding had been kept in mind and ground work had been done so the structure was raised above the flood plane, and then a man made mound had been built around and over most of it; it was a win-win for the MC as an attack to the interior of clubhouse could only come from the front. Security had been kept in mind as well for the yard, as a ten-foot chain link and bobwire fence had been built around the compound’s yard; however, nothing was full-proof as had already been demonstrated by the attack from the proofers. Since the attack, I had noticed a beefing up of patrols, though.

Seconds later, after having pushed the heavy metal door open, I stepped out into the sunlight, my eyes roaming the yard and taking in the huge garden that supplied a plethora of fresh vegetables for the members. My eyes continued to roam, taking in the assorted buildings and assorted lean-toos, before my gaze fell on Torin where he sat cross-legged on the gravel, polishing the chrome on his bike. I deliberated over disturbing him, then shrugged and began walking in his direction. Why the hell was I so nervous? I mean jeez he had tasted, touched, and licked every freaking inch of me. Yet, I felt like a damn schoolgirl: unsure and insecure suddenly.

Shaking my head, I came to a stop next to where Torin sat, and silently observed the sight before me. He had his back to me, his sun-kissed skin, smooth and glorious. Temptation personified; God, the man was beautiful.

As if becoming aware of my presence, he glanced over his shoulder, his gaze running over the length of my body, and a lingering a few seconds on my breasts, before turning away, he set the cloth he’d held in his hand down on the ground and cimbed to his feet, turning to face me, asking, “How’re you feeling this morning?”

“Actually… pretty good,” I replied, my eyes roaming over his broad chest and shoulders as they glistened in the rays of the sun. Beads of sweat dotted his flesh, and as I watched, a droplet broke loose from the others, slowly crawling its way down over his abdomen; I wanted to trace the moisture’s trail with my tongue, to taste his flavor left in its wake and savor it with my senses.

Torin gazed back, his eyes hungry as he raked them over me again before dragging them away as Jitter called, “Hey, Satan, someone’s here to see you.”

~GINGER~

Hands, on my hips, I stared at the woman walking across the yard. What the hell was she doing here? Sobain Reynolds was as beautiful as she was a bitch. I had never cared for her, but had tolerated her because of Satan, after Jamieson had died. It was more than obvious to anyone who had eyes, that Sobain had wanted more out of their relationship than Satan had ever intended it to be. His only intent toward her had been to help her and her son; he’d felt responsible for Jamieson’s death, and as she had been Jamieson’s ol’ lady, Satan had taken on the position of provider for a period; he hadn’t been at fault, but no one could convince him of that, and she hadn’t helped to allay his guilt. Now, she was back, and her presence spelled nothing but trouble. Heaving an angry breath, I turned from the doorway and made my way toward Bur’s office. With a light knock, I waited until he had called out to enter, then pushing the door open, I walked in. I didn’t hesitate or mince my words. “Why is Sobain here?”

Bur gazed at me, a confused look on his face. “What the hell are you talking about, woman? Sobain’s been gone from the club for over a year.”

I shook my head. “Not anymore. She’s out in the courtyard, right now.”

Bur shoved his chair back and climbed to his feet, inquiring, “You sure it’s her?”

I gave a snort. “See for yourself,” I offered, before stating, “she’s going to fuck his head up again, Bur.”

“Have some faith in him, Ging. He’s a big boy. He’ll take care of it,” Bur growled. Afterward, taking in the mutinous look on my face, he ordered, “Just stay the hell out of it, okay?”

My lips pursed, before stating, “I hope you’re right, Bur.”
