Chapter 13 — Ryan

I’m sitting with everyone at the dining room table. Emmy is feeling better and has joined us much to my distaste. Once again, the great and wonderful Emmy is in my way. I can’t stand her. She put the team at risk, and everyone just forgave her because it was her first mission. She could have gotten us killed, but everyone ignores that fact.

I hate that she is the leader. So, what if she has two powerful bloodlines running through her veins? I hate how everyone just loves her like she is some amazing person. She fucking abandoned the team for months and then she comes back. Everyone took her back with open arms.

I thought maybe Carter would stay pissed at her, but nope all she had to do was sleep with him and he was back wrapped around her finger. Even Alice has taken Emmy back. Alice was pissed at her best friend, but somehow even she has come around and found a way to forgive her. Bexton, Avery, and Brielle embraced Emmy the minute she was back. They are the weaker of the team.

I pick at my food. I’m so annoyed. Everything was better when Emmy was gone. I wanted her to stay gone, but no she just had to come back. I hoped she was a coward and ran away for good, but she didn’t. She ended up coming back.

Now that she is back Carter spent a good amount of time with her. Don’t get me wrong Carter and Bex are great as friends. We get along. I love jamming with them and taking rides on our bikes, but with Emmy back it feels like all of that has taken the back seat.

Brie smiles at me from across the table. The girl has a crush on me, and I don’t blame her. I am a pretty good-looking guy, but Brie is weak and so not my type. Sure, she is pretty and attractive, but she wouldn’t be able to keep up with me. I offer a smile back and she blushed. This girl can’t be my soulmate.

Besides, I don’t believe in that crap anyway. I don’t want to be tied to one chick forever. Sue me, but I like my freedom to be with whoever I want, whenever I want. So, I broke the rule and I slept around. I don’t care. I am not the first warlock, and I won’t be the last.

What no one knows is that I am a bit of a man whore. I enjoy sleeping around. Human girls are fun to be with. I can manipulate them with my magic to get them to do whatever I want. I’m dark and twisted, but I don’t care.

I have no interest in finding my soulmate like the others do. I know Brie and Alice want to find their soulmates and everyone else has already found theirs. I just don’t see what the thrill is being tied to one person forever. Love is stupid and the whole concept of love is even more stupid. It is a worthless emotion if you ask me. I can’t stand watching Emmy and Carter together, or Avery and Bex.

I roll my eyes at the thought of all the PDA I’m exposed to around here. Even Stella and Darren, our trainers, kiss and crap in front of us. It’s just not necessary. I am annoyed and agitated. This seriously cannot be my fate because if it is, fate screwed me over. Stupid prophecies and the stars with their crap of predicting the future.

After dinner I take my bike out. I am by myself because Bex and Carter are with their girlfriends. Even though Emmy is better, Carter still wants to be with her to make sure she is okay.

I take a ride to clear my head to try and get rid of my agitation. I end up about five towns over. I’m pretty far away from the manor at this point considering it is in the middle of nowhere. I end up in a dingy lit bar. I sit at the bar and order a beer. I produced my fake ID to the bartender who barely even looks at my ID. I look older so I got away with my fake ID and even if I don’t, I can use my magic to get away with it.

The beer does something to soothe my anger, but I’m still annoyed. Someone sits down next to me on my left. I really want to be alone, but the person next to me doesn't seem to get the hint.

“Hey there.” The female voice echoes in my head.

I turn to go tell the girl to go screw herself, but when I see her face, I know it’s the Enchantress. She is in jeans and a sexy black top that is low cut. She wears black heels and she make up is done to perfection.

“You know it’s hard to look at you when you look like Emmy.” I state.

Emmy and her mom really do look a lot alike. The Enchantress smiles and in a blink of an eye she has blonde curly hair, a heart shaped face, blue eyes, and long eyelashes.

“That’s better. So, what do you want?” I ask, taking a swig of my beer.

“I think we could help each other. I know you don’t care for Emmy, and at this point neither do I. I just need her heart and soul to accomplish what I want. You aren’t like the others on the team. You aren’t under the Emmy spell.”

“Damn straight. I can’t stand her. What do you want from me?”

Was I really considering this I think to myself? I should really tell her where to go, but there is a part of me that wants to hear her out.

“I want you to be my spy. Fill me in on what the team is doing, your missions and anything that will help me get to Emmy.”

“What’s in it for me? Oh, and I’m not giving you my soul so if that’s part of this deal you can just walk away right now.”

“I don’t need your soul. I don’t even want it. As for what’s in it for you, well just name your price.”

Tempting. “I’ll have to get back to you on that, but I’m not agreeing to anything right now.”

I don’t know if I should make a deal with the devil. The Enchantress can’t be trusted, but I also don’t want to deal with Emmy anymore. If I help the Enchantress, I will also help bring the world to an end and I don’t know if that would be worth it. Emmy isn’t worth my whole world ending.

Working with the Enchantress is dangerous, and it is not a good idea. I know that. I’ve seen what she can do, and I know what she wants to do. If I help her get to Emmy, I will end my world and the human world. I don’t think I could live with that.

“Take some time to think about it, stud, and let me know. If you want to help me, you know where to find me. Just think of the Death Forest before you go to bed, and you will go there in your dreams.” With that the Enchantress is gone.

I don’t know if I should help her. I don’t like being put in the spotlight. As much as I can’t stand Emmy, I don’t know if she is worth giving up my soul over. I know the Enchantress said she didn’t want my soul, but I can’t trust her. I am putting myself at risk helping her.

I finish my beer and head back to the manor. I think on the way back about what the Enchantress is offering me. I know she can’t be trusted, and she wants to end the world. She literally wants to be the apocalypse. Sure, I can’t stand Emmy, but I don’t know if working with the enemy was a good idea. Hell, Emmy’s enemy is my enemy, I’m on the damn team to take the Enchantress out and here I am thinking of working with her?

I can't lie there is something appealing about working with the Enchantress. She was powerful, and maybe she wouldn’t use me. I mean I would help her get what she wants, but still, I’m not sure. I have seen her power. After all, she gave those kids the ability to use their magic before they were sixteen and their skills were really good. So, I know the Enchantress could deliver on whatever I decide I want.

No matter how much Emmy pisses me off I don't think I could be a rat. I am too proud for that; besides I wouldn't want to ruin my chances with Brie. Wait. Where the hell did that come from? I must be thinking with my dick again, that’s what it had to be. Brie is hot, but there is no way in hell I could just use her as a one-night stand. Damn it, I am going to need to make a stop on my way home. I need release and sex will do that for me.
