I’m home safe and sound thanks to my brother and the team. My bed is right next to Carter’s who is still healing. My poor love had a concussion and broke three ribs. I was shocked to find out that Lynden has betrayed us. I wonder how Calder is taking this news, considering he was good friends with her, but hell what about Ivy? I can’t believe Lynden would do this to us, but she did. They still can’t find her.
Eva and Thanos arrive at the manor and come to check on me. Eva does a full examination to make sure the baby is okay. She also checks over me to make sure I’m alright as well. The Enchantress didn’t do too much to me because she wanted me to join her, plus I don’t think she could do much thanks to the protection spell on the baby. After all, the baby depends on my body to nurture it while it’s growing inside of me.
I figured the Enchantress was bluffing when she said she found a way to hurt the baby because if that was true, she would have done so right away. There’s no way she would have waited to hurt my baby. I know how cold hearted she is, if she had a way to hurt my baby, she would have done it right away to make me join her. She thought she was being clever, but she wasn’t.
Eva smiles at me.
“Everything looks good. Your little one is healthy and strong. As for you mom, you look good too, I’ve healed whatever bruises and other injuries you had. You should still rest, and not stress yourself out for the sake of the baby. You both just went through a trauma of being taken, you both need lots of rest, and healthy food.”
“Yes, Doctor Eva,” I joke.
“That’s right, yes to whatever I say. I can trust that you, Carter and your parents will make sure my suggestions are followed.” Eva winks at me.
I see Carter and my parents nod their heads in agreement with Eva. I’m done for, there is no way I’m getting out of the bed for the next few days except to use the bathroom. Eva talks with my parents, I’m sure she is giving them a list of what to do with me. Thanos walks up to me and puts his hands on my belly.
“The Enchantress is done for. She went after my soulmate.”
“You really love my daughter, don’t you?” I ask, giving Thanos a smile.
“I do. I’ve waited a long time for her, and I’ll wait even longer till she is old enough to join me. Don’t worry Emmy, I will always look out for Ariane, she is my everything, I will always protect her.”
“How did you know we were going to name her Ariane? We haven’t told anyone yet.”
“She’s my soulmate, I know her name, when she will be born, what kind of person she will be, I know many things about her. I know it seems odd for me to know her before she is even born, but it’s just how it works with us supreme beings. We know so much, things that you can’t even imagine. I’m in charge of death, I know when and how people will die, I’m in charge of the underworld, I know more than you can even comprehend. It’s not easy being like a god, but thankfully we are not the highest beings in the universe.”
“There are others above you, Eva, and Destine?” I ask.
“Yes, but even we don’t know who they are. Honestly, I don’t know if it’s just one being, or more than one, and I don’t want to know. It’s better that way. Now rest. Eva and I will check on you later to make sure you are still okay. Perhaps Destine will come with us as well.”
Thanos kisses my belly and says goodbye to Ari. I smile at him. He really loves her already. I feel relieved that I know my daughter will be taken care of. Thanos is a strong man, and although it’s scary because he is death, he’s still a good man. I know my baby girl will be well loved and cared for.
Eva and Thanos leave. My parents spend the rest of the day tending to Carter and I. Carter is so happy I’m home, and I’m happy to be home. Vivian, and the rest of the team come to check on Carter and me. At some point Jason and Kenzie stop by as well. I haven’t seen Calder, but I’m pretty sure he is busy trying to figure things out with Kyndle.
I have to admit I didn’t see her being a shifter. I don’t think any of us did. There was no indication that she could be a shifter, not that I would even know what to look for, but still it’s a surprise no one saw coming. Kyndle didn’t even die when she was hit with the black fire. There’s much we have to learn about her. All we knew was that she was Calder’s animal companion, but is she more than that? I guess time will tell.
