Chapter 23-2
"I-I- I-" She tried to speak as he body shook. Chase wasn't sure if it was from fear or shock. "It's okay, Charlie." His sister whispered while pleading with Chase that she needed hospital ASAP. "It's okay, Charlie. I won't hurt you. I lost my temper before, but never at you. I just want to help." He wanted to reach out and pull her into his arms, but he knew he couldn't and it killed him. "I need help." She whispered, and he watched as she nodded off for a second before waking up, which worried him. "Sweetheart you need to stay awake okay. I know you're tired, but you are doing good okay." Harriet whispered again and Chase was at lost with what to do. "C-c-can y-you take me to g-g-get h-h-help." She stuttered, and Chase looked towards his sister. "I can, but that means taking you to a private hospital okay." He whispered, wanting to brush her blood filled bangs off her face. "H-h-he will find me." Chase could tell she was trying to look at him as she nodded off again for a second longer than last time. He looked around and saw the worry on everyone's face and he knew he needed to act now. "He won't Charlie. I will protect you. I won't leave you're okay, I promise." He held out his hand and watched as Charlie shakily grabbed it with her left. "P-p-promise. He won't find me?" Chase was nodded his head both to Charlie and his family to get everything ready. "I promise okay. Harriet and Mum will come with us okay and I will drive, but I need to pick you up and take you to the car. I promise I won't hurt you." He watched as Charlie nodded her head and he let out a sigh of relief. "O-o-okay." Chase stood up slowly and gently place his arms under Charlie and picked her up. Her body trembled as her body made little whimpering sounds that broke his heart. He noticed she was nothing but bones as he tried to stifle his rage. Not wanting to put her in any more distress, he quickly took her to the car, being careful not to jolt her. Chase carefully put her in the back seat and clipped her seatbelt in as his sister slide into the back and his mum in the front with him. "Your father and Robert will join us at the hospital." Chase nodded and started to the car as Charlie whimpered in the back as his sister spoke softly to her to calm her down. "I have called ahead. I have told them we are coming in and to only request female staff. I put her under down as Jane Sinclair, my mother's name." Chase nodded at his mother as he carefully weaved n and out of traffic. He looked in his rear-view mirror and saw Charlie resting her head on my sister's lap as Harriet stroked her hair, humming to her softly. The radio was playing quietly in the background and no one spoke the whole way. They quickly arrived at the hospital as Chase quickly pulled up into the emergency department of the hospital. Not caring if someone stole his car, he rushed out and open the back door and watched as Charlie flinched. "Charlie, I'm going to pick you up okay and take you inside." He reached in carefully and watched as Charlie shook her head and moved away from him. He looked towards his sister who had the same lost look on her face. His mother had disappeared inside as he stepped away from the car and ran his hands through his hair. He knew Harriet was trying to tell Charlie to let him help, so he stayed away, giving her the space she needed. Chase watched as his mother came out with two females nurses who were pushing a bed. They stopped by the car and he watched as his sister climbed out from the other side. "She doesn't want you to touch her Chase." His sister gave him a sympathetic look, and while it hurt, his anger was stronger. Not at Charlie, but at the son of a bitch who did this to her. Chase watched as his sister and two nurses helped Charlie out of the car and set her on the bed before quickly rushing her through the emergency doors. Chase took a deep breath of the cool night air, knowing Charlie was in expert hands and he needed to move the car. "I'll meet you inside okay." His mother gently placed a hand on his shoulder, giving it a squeeze. Chase quickly parked his car before rushing back into the emergency room where his family was waiting for him. "Have they said anything yet?" He asked as he took a seat and rested his forearms on his knees. His right leg bounced up and down as he chewed on his bottom lip. "No, not yet. Chase, who would do something like this to Charlie." His mother asked on a sob while his father comforted her. "Her fucking fiancé that's who." Unable to sit down, Chase got up and started pacing and tugging at his hair. He wanted to drive over and beat the shit out of Landon, but he also didn't want to leave Charlie. "I-I-I don't understand surely someone could do that to someone they loved." He looked over to his mother who had her arms wrapped around his father sobbing softly into his shoulder. He saw the pain on her face which was mirrored across his other family members. Chase couldn't help but let out a dry laugh at the thought of Landon ever loving Charlie. "He doesn't love her. He loves to control and own her, but love. Ha, I doubt it. I should have fucking done something sooner. I had a faint idea but this." Chase shook his head, muttering to himself as the doors to the emergency department opened and two female cops walked in. They were ushered into the room and Chase prayed to god Charlie finally told them about that fucking son of a bitch because he as hell was. She needed to leave him because it worried him the next time he would beat her until she no longer was breathing. An hour went by and they were still waiting for any news about Charlie. Chase held a cup of coffee between his hands as his mother would squeeze his leg every 5 to 10 minutes to reassure him Charlie was fine. Chase looked up when he saw the two police officers from before walk over to where he was sitting. "Mr Sinclair, I'm Officer Taylor Jameson and this is Officer Lucy Gram we have a few questions for you." Chase nodded his head and took a sip of his bland coffee and the two female officers sat across from him. "How is she?" He asked but neither of them said anything as they opened up their notepads. "Can I ask the relationship you have with Miss Jones? We know you signed her in under a false name" One officer asked and Chase took a deep breath. "We are close friends. We used to date when we were younger." His mother squeezed his leg as both officers starred him down.
