Chapter 5 he is persistent
Anaya’s P.O.V.
“You look like a wreck, Anaya.” Jacob remarked, worried, but tried to be nonchalant.
He was now sitting on the single couch in front of me. I just stared at him blankly, waiting for him to leave on his own before I do something that I regret later.
"I heard what happened to Vincent. I know the words can't heal you, but you are still alive, and you have to go on." He continued speaking in the same worried tone.
“Do you really think that I will go with you just because he wants to?” I questioned him coldly, ignoring his remark and worry for me.
I didn't have any animosity towards him, but his presence with five of those warriors here, inside my home, was irking me to the extent that I was about to lose my temper at any time.
Thanks to my friends, I was now more energetic than I was in the morning. So, if he has any plans of using force, I am sure that I still could beat him now.
“I am here because he forced me, baby, but I also wanted to meet you. It has been years, and yes, we all still miss our time together. You didn’t even bother to call any of us once?” he complained, and I scoffed aloud.
That endearment didn't bother me because it was typical of Jacob's style. He used to call me so many names when we were together in the pack.
"You came here, intimidated them with your aura, and yet you are blaming me for your grievances?" I emphasized the last word mockingly.
Rose and I worked together, but seeing werewolves is not something that we do on a regular basis. So, both Rose and Nacy were scared, especially Nancy.
“I know you are still angry with us, and why not? The way we kept our mouths closed and let him make you leave the pack, you have every right to stay angry with us.”
“I never blamed you guys, Jacob.” I interrupted him sternly. My hands were crossed in front of my chest, but my fists were tightly clenched.
“You guys were also pups like me, and helpless in front of our parents. So, I never blamed you guys.” I explained that wasn’t important, but it was true.
“I am angry because after getting power, none of you stood up against him. No one challenged him for the alpha position and didn’t kill him.” My voice raised, anger raged in my veins.
I was too sensitive to control my emotions, not even a bit.
“Because we have been waiting for you to come back all this time, Anaya.” He yelled, making me stop speaking and look at him dumbfounded.
“You forgot that we all called you our alpha. That was just a joke among us, but after you left, we accepted you as our alpha. In front of the Moon Goddess, we all accepted you as our alpha after our sixteenth birthday when we all got our wolves. Why would I challenge the alpha when I know that the right heir will come back one day and kill that bstard.”
I swear to the goddess that I felt as if he was speaking gibberish in another language, as I didn’t understand a word coming from his mouth.
What did he actually want me to understand?
That he is not here to take me back forcefully?
That he is here because they did something absurd like accepting me as their future alpha, which really sounds like a cruel joke to me right now?
I needed to be alone to heal, not to be drag in a mess that never belonged to me.
“Come back with us, Anaya. The pack needs you.” He rrequested, and I scoffed again.
“That pack doesn’t need a human as its leader, Jacob, and you know very well that I never belonged to that world.” I refused with the same logical argument that I had given him earlier.
“You are wrong.” He still argued and it irked me.
“The pack needs a sensible, intelligent and brave Alpha, not a shtty basrd like your father, Anaya. The pack flourished when Vera was our Luna. Winnie did nothing but follow Vera’s strategies and plans to run the pack with your father. That’s why the pack is still existing or else with Alfred’s level of intelligence, it would have been destroyed a long time ago. I raised my brows in confusion.
“You don’t know, but your Alfred’s mental state deteriorated rapidly in the past few years. Not right after you left the pack, but in the past three years, he messed up with the wrong people, and now the cruelest Alpha among us is after our pack.” He explained with a serious expression, but I found his explanation absurd.
Vera Rivers White is my deceased mother - a human to be precise.
Alfred White is my father and alpha of the Dark Shadow Pack, and Winnie is his fated mate.
Or that’s what they told my mother when Winnie came to our home with my father when I was only 7.
“He is going to destroy everything, Anaya.” Jacob urged but I groaned angrily.
“Then just challenge him, and take over the alpha title, Jacob. What’s wrong with that?” I was irritated and angry by now.
I didn’t want to have this conversation with him.
Goddess!!!!
I didn’t even want to sit with him this long.
“I am here to take you back to the pack, Anaya. Not because Alfred ordered me, but because I know that we will be killed soon if you won’t go back.” He still repeated the same thing with a different excuse.
“I am a human, Jacob, not a wolf. You, of all the people, know how they treated me when I was there. Th…. That disdain, their mockery, an… and don’t forget their attempts to hurt me.”
“I didn’t forget anything, Anaya. I remembered everything. We were helpless back then, but we aren’t now.”
“Stop this madness now, Jacob. Life is already making my life hell, and now you are here to torture me too. Just go away. Tell him that I am not coming back. Not now. Not never. I don’t care who lives and who dies. You are the beta of that pack. The next line of ruler. Do whatever you want to do, but do not include me anywhere.” I declared, irritated by his persistence, and stood up.
"Go back, Jacob. I severed all my ties with that pack and that family the day I left that hell." I ordered him sternly and walked towards the door.
I opened it, and stepped aside so that he could understand what I really want and go back.
"Winnie is on the verge of death, Anaya. Don't tell me that you have become so heartless that you choose to abandon her instead of taking her out of that hell." he spoke to me in a serious tone, still standing at the same place, but I narrowed my eyes.
"What did you say?" I demanded sternly, and Winnie's face surfaced in front of my eyes.
