Chapter 27 a heartfelt wish
Lucifer’s P.O.V. (Continued)
“I am sleepy.” She mumbled in a muffled voice.
“Sleep for now,” I replied in a low and hushed voice, rubbing my nose over the top of her head, inhaling the scent of her shampoo mixed with her own unique scent.
She just mumbled something incoherent, but soon she fell asleep.
I slowly rocked her body while closing my eyes.
This strange peace was something that took me off guard.
I never knew this peace, and it really felt amazing.
Her slow breath, that slight movement in her chest….
Everything felt good and right in the place where it should be.
She felt so right in my arms…
Her not comparing me with her ex-boyfriend…
Her not showing any disdain or fear towards my scar….
Everything felt good and right.
“She is our salvation, Lucifer. Even if the goddess didn’t give us a mate, she gave us Anaya. What if the goddess felt pity for us, and that’s why she sent Anaya to us?” Beast was optimistic, and for the first time, I wanted to believe that something good, like finding the best life partner can happen to me.
“Just stay with her for now, okay? I can feel that her proximity strengthens me in a very weird way.” Beast insisted with a confused expression on his face.
I furrowed my brows, trying to process what he was implying here.
“Forget it. This happens for the best, and I am happy.” He almost did the happy dance in the back of my mind.
I shook my head lightly but smiled widely. I was happy and wanted to live this moment for as long as I could.
Soon, I felt sleepy too.
“Will you come out of the room?” Theo asked me through mind-link.
Handle everything as you seem fit, Theo. I am tired and want to have a nap.” I replied to him sleepily and yawned in the end.
Theo’s P.O.V.
“What did he say?” Willow asked me anxiously.
“He is sleeping now.” I muttered annoyingly. I couldn’t feel but sympathy towards Lucifer and Anaya, though.
The weirdest and strangest bond was between them.
It seems that they will be okay on the surface, but with Lucifer’s history and Anaya’s stubbornness, their union was far from being a simple union.
“Let’s go. We need to take care of Bethany.” I spoke further in resignation and held her in my side embrace.
“You go. Evan is about to wake up. I don’t have time for those arrogant btches.” She muttered angrily.
I wanted to argue with her, but with one glare from her, I cowered.
I might be the most ruthless beta in the world, but I was just a timid puppy.
“Okay, my love. Don’t be angry, okay? I can take care of everything. You just stay happy.” I coaxed her while smiling sheepishly.
She glared at me one more time before hitting her elbow in my lower ribcage and then stormed away from there, leaving me behind, howling in pain while clutching my lower chest.
“Heartless mate,” I muttered while rubbing that place.
But smiled in the end. Willow’s fierceness is something that always made me love her more.
“Beta Theo.” I looked in the direction of the person who called me, respectively.
“Don’t need to tell me that she is throwing a tantrum there,” I spoke to him flatly while walking in his direction.
I could endure any insult coming to me, but to my mate….
I don’t know about Lucifer, but I am not going to let it slide under the rug.
“She is, Beta Theo. She is demanding to see Alpha.” The guard told me, annoyingly.
“As if our alpha is her personal maid.” I scoffed annoyingly.
The guard giggled but covered his mouth with his hand.
“Don’t let the alpha find that you laughed at him. Or else.” I gestured for a cutting neck through my hand while clicking my tongue.
He gulped hard in fear.
I walked past him and walked out of the pack house.
Lucifer had his own mansion, but he preferred living here because he hated being alone.
That’s why I also lived in the pack house with my family.
I don’t know if Anaya will think the same, but I also like to stay with everyone, especially with Lucifer.
He has his own secrets, and staying near him is the only way to help him when he needs that.
Because the scar on his face is not just a mark of curse, it was more than that.
More than what can endure, and now I was worried about how Anaya will react when she learns about that.
She wasn’t his fated mate…
Even if she is…
They can’t sense each other.
I really wish for my alpha and friend to get rid of this curse and find the happiness of his life, but…..
We didn’t need to go far from the pack house.
In the backyard, under the training gym, we had a secret holding cell. Only a few people, only trustworthy, knew about this, and the guard beside me, Rudolf, was one of those people.
He was our delta, Roman’s third brother, and a very fierce fighter. Lucifer appointed Rudolf, the head of the packhouse and security for other important buildings, when Rudolf was only 17.
Even without his wolf, he could take down a gamma.
“I am really happy that our Luna is not a fragile type. She made that btch know that place. How exciting!” Rudolf muttered happily, keeping his tone low, but I heard every word.
“You are this happy, huh?” I asked him teasingly.
“Of course, I am. You don’t know how much worse Bethany has become in the past three months. Throwing her weight around as the alpha’s favorite mistress is one thing, and using that weight to bully people and rob them is another thing.” He muttered under his breath, but I stopped abruptly.
“What did you say?” I asked him in shock, taking him off guard as he flinched harder.
“You didn’t know?” he asked me in shock, but my expression didn’t change.
He shrank his shoulders in fear this time.
“Rudolf. You are not just an ordinary wolf here, okay? You should have told us anything bad the second you noticed that or saw that. If I am not available, you can go to Willow at any time, and you know that.” I scolded him for not speaking earlier.
He was also like a younger brother to me.
“Beta Willow is the one who has been fighting with Bethany and Alpha’s other mistresses all this time, Beta Theo. You and Alpha are so busy with other stuff that you didn’t even ask her once what she has been going through. That bch…. She even tried to hurt Evan once.” He grumbled angrily, but my blood went cold when I heard about Evan.
"What did she do to Evan?" I asked him coldly, taking a step in his direction.
"Hey, bro. I did nothing wrong, okay? In fact, I was the one who called Beta Willow at that time." He shrank his shoulders more in fear.
