Chapter 70 He Never Loses

Chapter 70 He Never Loses
Harry’s POV:

Whenever I ran, there was always a girl with a high, stiff ponytail a few steps ahead of me. On the sidelines were my parents with anxious looks—my father yelling at the top of his voice, letting me know I would never grow a hair on my head if a girl succeeded in winning the race. But that was the thing: it was damn hard winning against this girl in purple sports attire, especially when her parents were on the sideline and her dad kept telling her not to trip and to be careful, while her mom yelled at the top of her lungs and cursed other mothers because her daughter was the best.

I was always jealous of that girl’s family, but as they say, never wish for something if you have no idea about the backstory.

I had managed to discover that Mr. Quinn was putting hands on his wife when I stopped by their house once to invite Purple for another race because I just had to beat her. Who would have believed that the kind and calm Yan Quinn was actually putting his hands on his wife? Did Purple know about this?

“Bords! Bords!” The crowd went wild as I ran past the finish line. When I turned, the next person was still a little far behind me. I chuckled, because there was definitely no competition like Purple.

“Yaay!” Etsy ran towards me and was about to hug me but stopped when she suddenly remembered I might be sweaty. She gave me a bottle of water. “Perfect.”

The guy who came in second snorted. “He is not from our department, so what are you happy about?”

“Get lost,” she waved at him before turning to face me. “Nice sports attire.” She had a teasing smile, and I drank the water she brought before ruffling her hair as she smacked my hand away.

“How did the jump go?” I asked Etsy, who had signed up for the high jump. I hadn’t been there to watch, and she shrugged.

“Guess I underestimated how hard it is to jump high.”

“Etsy” A familiar voice called from the crowd of girls who had surrounded us. We both turned to find Maurice. I noticed Etsy tense, and I chuckled because every day this redhead keeps reminding me just how crazy she was—she actually took a video of Maurice and uploaded it online?

“Sup, man?” He nudged me, and I dabbed him up before smirking at him.

“Nice video.”

“Come on now.” He looked at me in disbelief. I laughed and walked away to go find Purple, but after looking around, I couldn’t spot her.

“Bords!” Nate yelled my name from a corner. He was with Chris, Yvan, Allen, and a few girls. I could recognize one of them: it was Tania. This girl pisses me off with just her smile.

I didn’t want to walk up to them, but they had come here to watch me and Allen, so I owed them that. I walked over and Nate dabbed me up. I tapped Chris’s shoulder and turned my gaze to Allen. “You should have run for your department or something; that other guy was a loser.”

He chuckled. “The only reason I didn’t run was because I didn’t want to humiliate you.”

Of course. I kept looking around again for Purple but couldn’t spot her. She must be busy taking pictures—did she take pictures of me? How many? Because if she didn’t, then she wasn’t paying attention to me all this time.

“Hey, Harry.” Tania made her presence known. I barely glanced at her and nodded.

“Say hey to the girl, man,” Nate hissed at me, and I threw him a glare. He quickly backed up before turning his gaze to Yvan. “Will you be there for the race or not? We need all hands on deck.”

I looked at Yvan with a frown because no one told me he had plans of not participating in the big race event tonight—one that I would very much love to put J.K. and his slow vipers in their place.

“You’re not coming?”

“Maybe if your girl hadn’t suddenly quit working at the shop without any notice, then I would have been free to show up,” he retorted, like he had that at the tip of his tongue, just waiting for an opportunity to slip it out.

“See how nice that sounded?” I questioned, and he raised a confused brow. “‘My girl,’ not his.

Yvan’s jaw tightened and his fist clenched like he wanted to simply punch me as if it was that easy.

“You both cool off. Yeah, she is your ex-girlfriend and now his, but you both don’t forget she is my little sis,” Chris chimed in, giving us both a warning glare. “So, some respect.”

A chick waved at him, and he quickly ran to her, abandoning the respect speech he was giving.

“No need to have any bad blood. A bet was made and Harry won, so that’s it… we move on,” Nate said, and my breath hitched when he mentioned the bet.

“What bet?” Tania asked, and we all threw her a look. She rolled her eyes before leaving.

“Fine. You won the bet and you are indeed all that and could get any girl you want; I mean… which girl wouldn’t want an A-grade billionaire rider?” Yvan asked mockingly.

“An A-grade billionaire girl as well,” Allen answered with a soft laugh. This was no longer a joke to me, and I couldn’t laugh about some stupid bet we made.

“This isn’t about a bet.”

“Don’t try to sweet-talk this, Harry. We made a bet on her and you fucking won,” he said a little louder, and I felt anger surge through me. All I wanted was to hit him so hard that all he saw was red.

“Look at her, all smiles and walking around with your name, thinking you genuinely want her. You even wore a purple sports attire… Respect, Harry, because I just didn’t realize how far you could have gone for a common bet.”

He kept spouting all that nonsense, pressing all my buttons… whatever I did for Purple and us being together had nothing to do with the bet.

“That’s why he is Harry Bords, he never loses… but now I think Chris won’t spare you if he finds out you messed with his sis’s heart just for a bet,” Nate laughed out like this was a comedy show.

He was worried about Chris finding out, but I was worried about myself, because I will be damned if I hurt Purple again.

“Let me go, you bastard!” I heard Etsy yell out, gaining everyone’s attention. We all turned to find her and Maurice. He held her hand firmly, and Dianne hurried over, pushing him away, but he didn’t budge—he just stood there staring at Etsy while holding her hand firmly.

I walked over to them, but before I could get there and hit Maurice hard for holding her without her approval, Chris was already flying toward him. He hit him hard across the face, pushed him so hard, and stood before Etsy.

“You fucking crazy? Don’t you ever touch her.”
