Chapter 213 His Eyes On My Naked Breasts

Chapter 213 His Eyes On My Naked Breasts
"What?" Alexander took a step back and stared at me from head to toe before shaking his head and making sure he heard me right.

I crossed my arms, the confrontation giving me a surge of strength I desperately needed. "This morning I called you, and it was pretty obvious you weren't alone. So don't stand there acting like you give a damn about finding Dominic when you're busy with other women."

Alexander stared at me for a long moment, processing what I'd said. Then he let out a heavy sigh, running his hand through his disheveled hair.

"You've got nothing to say now?" I taunted.

"Look!" Alexander's voice rose with frustration. "I told you—I'll help you with whatever you need, but finding his body? That's not something you should be doing. He's gone, let him rest in peace."

His words stung like a slap across my face. The disappointment crashed over me again, that familiar feeling of being let down by someone I'd trusted.

"Fine. Go play around and have fun. I'll find him myself." I turned to walk away, but Alexander's hand shot out and grabbed my arm.

"I'm not playing around—this is complicated, okay?"

I whirled back to face him, anger boiling over. "Complicated? You're his twin brother, and a month later you've forgotten about him! You're not as mature as everyone thinks you are."

The words tumbled out before I could stop them: "I can't believe I ever had a crush on yo—"

I immediately clamped my mouth shut, realizing what I'd just revealed.

Alexander's expression softened completely, his eyes widening as he swallowed hard, trying to process this new information.

"You had a crush on me?" he asked quietly, his voice almost vulnerable.

I took a deep breath, shaking my head. This wasn't the time for this conversation.

"Was it different?" he pressed, stepping closer. "What you felt for me compared to the others?"

I looked away, unable to meet those intense brown eyes. "That was before, okay? It doesn't matter now."

"At least don't ignore that brother who died because his father wanted to look good in front of the High Council, wanted to give that bastard a crown worth cherishing." The words came out harsh, bitter. I couldn't look directly into Alexander's eyes as I said it.

His gaze was too intense, too searching, and it made me uncomfortable.

I saw Amelia walking out of the mansion, and she signaled for me to come with her. Perfect timing.

Alexander grabbed my hand, trying to stop me from leaving. Amelia noticed but politely looked away, pretending she hadn't seen anything.

"I'm trying to protect you," Alexander said in a low voice. "Please don't look for his body."

He finally released my arm and stepped back.

The rain had been going on for too long, and I was starting to feel cold. I didn't want to stay and risk getting sick, so I hurried to catch up with Amelia.

A car stopped beside us, and the driver rolled down his window. "Mr. Alexander sent me to take you home."

I didn't want to argue—I just wanted to get home as quickly as possible. I slid into the backseat without protest.

The car ride was uncomfortable. I kept shivering from the cold rain, and I noticed Amelia seemed uneasy too.

I found myself thinking about what that old woman had told me before—that Rafael had been killed by a weredragon, and that it was the catalyst for the Great War.

I wondered what Amelia would do if she found out I was a weredragon. I was also curious to learn more about Amelia's mate and why Maxwell had turned out the way he had.

The driver dropped us off near the tall grass surrounding our house, and we walked inside together.

"Oh, Maxwell!" Amelia exclaimed as soon as we entered the living room.

"I missed you so much, Mom!" Maxwell pouted like a child as he wrapped his arms around Amelia.

During their embrace, his eyes found mine. I watched as his gaze traveled first to my neck, then lower to my chest.

It wasn't until his stare lingered in one particular spot that I realized the rain had made my dress completely transparent. He was shamelessly staring at my exposed red nipples.

I quickly crossed my arms over my chest and turned my head away in disgust.

Amelia broke their embrace and asked, "Do you need anything, Maxwell?"

"Milk!" he said in a low voice.

I understood exactly what he was doing.

"You two talk," I said, leaving them alone so I could escape his nauseating stare. I rushed into my room.

Mom was already asleep, still holding her phone with some videos playing. She was the only person who could lie in bed watching movies and videos, enjoying the rainy day.

I changed into a black dress, grateful to be out of those wet clothes.

When I came back out, I found Amelia at the dining table, preparing croissant dough.

"Do you need any help?" I asked.

"With what we do, all the help in the world wouldn't be enough," Amelia joked.

Thankfully, her perverted son had gone back to his floor.

"You're such a wise woman," I said carefully. "I bet your mate used to love you very much."

I felt bad for bringing up what was probably a painful subject for her, but I needed to understand her mate's story if I was going to uncover Lord Blackwood and Lydia's darkest secrets.

Amelia sighed deeply. "I wouldn't say that."

Her response made me curious about why she would speak about her deceased mate that way.

"You didn't get along well?" I asked.

"Well!" Amelia said quietly. "He wasn't a very—kind mate."

She added, "He was friendly, don't get me wrong, but only to other people and young she-wolves." From her description, I understood exactly where Maxwell's perverted behavior came from.
