A She-Wolf's Revenge

A She-Wolf's Revenge
Back in the North Wing.....
Christine blinked, refusing to believe it.
But there it was, inked onto Myra's neck like a cursed tattoo. The Alpha's mark. Arthur's mark.
"No. No. No." Her voice dropped to a whisper.
Myra covered her neck with her hands. "It's not what it looks like." She tried to salvage the situation. To keep Christine from killing her.
What do I do? Myra panicked internally. Surely Christine wouldn't spare her life now.
"This can't be true. It must be a joke." Christine closed her eyes then opened them. But the mark was still there, sitting stubbornly in her neck.
"No it can't be true," she sank to the floor then looked up at Myra almost pleadingly. "What's that? Tell me."
"It's nothing I swear," Myra said, stepping as far away as possible.
Christine looked at her, confusion swirling in her eyes. "What the hell is that? Tell me it isn't what I think it is. Tell me."
"It's nothing!"
A half sob escaped Christine's throat. "It can't be true. It can't be true," she muttered, shaking her head in denial.
"This isn't what you think it is. Please."
Christine stared at her neck, then buried her face in her hands. "This can't be true. There has to be some kind of mistake."
Oddly, Myra felt some pity for the woman as she sobbed into her hands. She looked around then walked over tentatively. "I'm sorry..... I didn't mean for this to happen."
"You took his mark." Christine whispered slowly, as if it was just dawning on her. She raised her gaze. "You took what's mine. You stole him completely."
"No I didn't." Myra noted the sudden rage behind the woman's eyes. She backed away instinctively.
"You did it. You bewitched him." Christine rose slowly, pure rage dominating her eyes. "You took what's mine and made it yours. You witch!"
Myra pressed her back in the wall in a corner of the room, wishing she could disappear.
"I underestimated your vile nature." A humourless chuckle escaped her.
"I didn't—"
"I'm surprised." Christine shrugged, her lips twisting into something too malicious to be called a smile. "I never saw it coming. But now I do, it makes much more sense as to why Arthur had been avoiding me."
"Can I explain this?" Myra asked, pressing her palms together.
But Christine went on as if she'd never spoken. "Now I know why his scent is all over you like a perfume." She hummed thoughtfully. "Now I know the reason behind his sudden disgust towards me. It's because he's found someone more special than a mere mistress."
Christine laughed, and the sound was enough to send a chill down Myra's spine.
"Little did I know it would be you, little princess."
Myra dropped to her knees. "I have nothing to do with this." She begged.
"Of course you didn't." She cooed. But when she crossed the room and grabbed the sword, her voice darkened. "You're really smart princess. I applaud you. You took what's rightfully mine. You stole what should've been on my neck. His mark."
Myra didn't want to die. Not like this. "You can have it. But please don't kill me."
"You've always wanted him, haven't you?" Christine swung the sword lazily, advancing towards her.
"No!"
"Yes!" She hissed. "You want to be his. You want to be Luna so you can take back your kingdom."
"You're getting this all wrong." Myra tried to reason with her. But the woman's senses had died, leaving revenge and the sheer determination to kill.
"Really?" Christine asked sweetly. "I don't care. I'll rip that thing off you, then make sure you don't live for another minute."
But when she swung the sword at Myra, the invisible force sprang up again, forming a shield around Myra while flinging her across the room.
Dust exploded into the air once again, coating the room with thick greyish particles.
Myra coughed and waved the dust aside, blinking a couple of times. When she looked around the room, she saw no one else.
What the hell was that? Confused, she glanced down at her palms which felt strangely hot. There was a faint gold shimmer hovering above them like tiny stars.
Her eyes widened in wonder. "What the—?"
Immediately, the shimmer vanished like it never came. She blinked.
"I-I don't understand... What is going on?" She whispered, turning her hands this way and that way, temporarily forgetting Christine's murderous intentions.
What did she do? Was she... Was she the one that flung Christine aside?
"But I didn't touch her." She murmured, trying to make sense of what happened. She hadn't even lifted a finger.
She glanced at the mark. It was burning just like her hands were just a minute ago. Could it.... could it be the mark that did it?
Across the room, Christine sat up and wiped some dirt from her eyes. When she looked at the princess's neck, the mark was glowing gold like the Alpha's eyes.
Her eyes filled with tears. How could this happen? What had gone wrong? Was the Moon Goddess asleep? Or had she gone mad?
But when her gaze shifted to the princess's face, her heart grew heavy with unrestrained anger.
This wasn't the Moon Goddess's doing. This was the wicked scheme of the princess. She wanted to be Luna.
Christine let out a growl and shifted to her wolf. Her yellow eyes were sharp.
"You'll never be his mate. You'll never replace me!" She hissed through her wolf. "He's mine. He's only mine."
Myra shook her head frantically. She wanted to crawl away but it was a dead end. "I never wanted to be his mate."
Her words fell on deaf ears. Christine focused her gaze on the mark, baring her fangs. In a flash, she pounced on Myra and sank her canines into her shoulder.
An ear-splitting scream erupted from Myra, followed closely by choking sobs. "Stop! Please!"
Christine pinned her down and sank her fangs deep. When she tasted the princess's blood, her anger turned to satisfaction.
Blood trickled down Myra's torn dress. Her shoulder was turning numb from the pain.
"Stop," she screamed, her voice thick with tears.
But Christine wasn't backing down. She bit down hard, tearing at her skin, determined to wipe that mark off.
Myra couldn't fight the vengeful wolf. She closed her eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks. She laid on the ground weakly, covered in blood and dirt, having accepted defeat and maybe death.
That was how the Alpha wolf found his mate when he barged into the room a second later.
