Collision Of Storms
Collision Of Storms
Myra froze the second she looked up.
Arthur. And he was holding her. Her nightmare come to life.
Shock coursed through her veins, turning her blood ice cold. His scent hit her first, reminding her of an event she had successfully buried.
Until now.
Flashes of the night came back and her eyes widened in fear.
He knows. He'll remember. I'm doomed.
“Seeking my attention princess? Or are you blind?" His voice was cold as he stepped away from her.
Wait a minute—what did he just say?
“W-What?"
“Now you're deaf as well" his remark was just as sharp.
She stood, frozen like a statue. What was he saying? Why wasn't he demanding or laughing or even asking questions?
Her eyes widened as it hit her. Could it... could it be he didn't remember?
Slowly, she studied him, hoping beyond hope it was true.
His eyes held the usual arrogance and disdain. But no recognition or guilt.
Relief crashed over her with a force that weakened her knees.
He didn't remember. This was too good to be true.
“Y-You don't remember?" She stuttered, unable to believe it.
Arthur arched an eyebrow. “Remember what? Something you're not telling me princess?"
Now she confirmed it. He didn't remember that night.
But that moment of elation was quickly dampened by bitterness. He didn't remember what he did to her.
That night never mattered to him. Not in the way it mattered to her.
He had destroyed her and left her moving through the days like a shadow, while he conveniently forgot his crime, lost in the haze of his desire.
Suddenly remembering his earlier words, she blinked back to reality and scowled. “You're the one that's deaf"
“Haven't lost your sharp mouth I see" he commented, pushing aside his frustration.
“And you haven't lost your stupidity" she retorted out of spite.
He didn't remember anything at all. And he had the audacity to insult her.
His lips twisted to a cold sneer. “You still have your fire princess, but it's time you accept the bitter truth"
“That you're a spineless coward or a manwhore?"
Her question slapped away his cruel smile. “Watch your mouth. It might land you in trouble"
“And yours might get you poisoned Alpha"
“Let me guess. You want to poison me because you're frustrated and depressed. Because you're my slave"
Each word that dropped from his lips stroked the fire inside her.
How dare he? After everything he did to her, how dare he?
Myra's cheeks flushed. “It's saddening to see you're still foolish. All bark and no bite"
“You will watch your mouth" he warned dangerously, grabbing her wrist.
His touch made her skin crawl, reminding her how he touched her that night.
She yanked her hand free and spat, “Don't you ever touch me"
He took a step closer. “Or what?"
She retreated, fixing her blazing glare on him. “Or I'll kill you. I swear"
Arthur noted the unusual fury that tightened her features and it struck his mind. But he pushed it aside.
“You're forgetting one little thing princess. I'll kill your sister before you can even end my life"
Myra gnashed at her teeth as she dug her fingers into her skirt.
“You disgust me Alpha" her voice dropped to a low hiss.
“The feeling's mutual" he took another step closer, lessening the distance between them.
Myra's eyes widened in fear, her legs moving back without meaning to.
His keen gaze noted that movement and the sudden fearful light in her eyes.
She was hiding something and he had a strong guess it had something to do with him.
“Are you scared now?"
She quenched the sudden desire to rip his throat out. “Don't mistake irritation for fear"
“Really?" He drawled, studying her carefully. “You look like someone who's hiding an awful secret"
“What if I am?" She blurted.
“So you are hiding something" his eyes were sharp and narrowed.
Myra swallowed her thudding heart, fixing her gaze on the ground. “I never said I was"
“You have a secret and it has something to do with me" he stated calmly. Too calmly.
Luke he knew what she was hiding.
She paled visibly. “Your ego surprises me Alpha, much more than your foolishness"
“I'm right princess. I know I am"
“Stop acting like an overgrown pup and try to use that thick head of yours" were her last words as she turned on her heels quickly.
She needed to leave. He was getting too close to the truth, and that scared her. If she stayed any longer, he could remember, after all his eyes were dissecting her curiously.
She didn't want him to remember. Not now. Not ever.
Arthur watched her retreating figure, torn between confusion and suspicion.
Suspicious of her shady words and confused why it even mattered to him. She was making empty threats—he knew that—but her words rang in his head.
And her eyes—he had seen that fear before. But where?
He groaned, pressing his hand against a pillar. His head throbbed with something he wished he knew.
Then the visions returned with torment.
Her breathy voice, her sweet scent, her soft body beneath his.
'Remember. Find her' the wolf snarled again.
Find who? He didn't even know her, but he remembered her soft scent.
His eyes changed to golden slits as the images flooded his mind. He shifted and sprinted out of the palace.
He had to hunt. And his prey was her.
Myra was anxious as the morning sun greeted her dull face. She barely got any sleep, replaying their encounter continuously.
Did he truly not remember? Has he truly forgotten? Or was he playing mind games with her?
The last question made her chest tighten.
What if he knew all along? What if he had told someone else?
When she passed some guards, their conversation halted and their gaze lingered on her.
She walked out of their sights quickly, her heart drumming harshly in her ears.
What if they knew? What if everyone knew?
“You're losing it" she told herself, banishing every paranoid thought.
No one knew. But when some maids passed her with giggles, her heart lurched.
“Nobody knows Myra. Snap out of this" she said, trying hard to control her jittery nerves.
Nobody knew, not even Arthur himself, so her fears were uncalled for. But why was she till jumpy at every glance thrown her way?
Out of the blue, her reflection in the mirror shimmered and casted a dark shadow.
She blinked and it disappeared.
Was she imagining it?
With a tired sigh, she rubbed her eyes. “Maybe I am losing it" she mumbled under her breath.
Just because of a single encounter, her nerves were wreaking havoc and her brain was forming illusions.
“Pull yourself together" she said sternly, staring at her reflection. “He can't break you"
As soon as the words left her mouth, the window dipped and she no longer saw her reflection.
She saw a woman tangled in sheets, her eyes wide with fear. Then golden eyes, and a dark form pinning her down.
“No, no" she whispered. Not again.
Her neck burned with unbearable heat as she stood like a statue.
The memory was haunting again.
Her stomach churned and her body began to heat up. The hallway began to spin and she clutched her stomach, steadying herself.
“Stop. I want this to stop" she said to no one in particular.
A spot on her neck burned so much it was draining the last strength from her body. In the distance, she heard howls again, ringing loudly in her ears.
“Stop" she said again, dropping to the floor. But the scorching heat was spreading through her veins.
When her fingers touched her neck, she felt a faint spark—almost like magic—before darkness came over her.
