Chapter 275 Chapter 275

Chapter 275 Chapter 275
They stayed like that for a long moment, both breathing hard, hearts pounding against each other, bodies cooling.
Finally, Daniel rolled to the side, pulled Emma with him so she was tucked against his chest. His hand traced lazy patterns on her back, over the curve of her hip.
"Best wedding gift ever," he murmured into her hair.
Emma smiled against his skin. "Actually, that wasn't the real gift."
Daniel pulled back to look at her. "What?"
"The lingerie. That was just… well foreplay if you like." Emma felt her heart start to pound again, but for a different reason now. "The real gift is—I need to tell you something."
Daniel's expression shifted, concern flickering across his face. "Em—"
"I'm pregnant."
Silence.
Daniel stared at her, like he hadn't quite heard right. "You're—what?"
"Pregnant." Emma's hand went to her stomach, still flat but not for much longer. "Eight weeks. I was going to tell you straight away, but I knew that you really wanted a family, and I wanted to give you the best gift ever. This is your real wedding gift. We're going to have a baby."
Daniel's mouth opened. Closed. Opened again. No words came out.
"Daniel?" Emma felt panic start to creep in. "Say something. Please."
"A baby," he finally managed. His hand covered hers on her stomach. "We're having a baby?"
"Yes."
"You're sure?"
"Five positive tests sure," Emma said. "And I saw a doctor. It's real. We're really—"
Daniel kissed her. Hard and desperate and full of so much emotion Emma felt tears spring to her eyes.
When he pulled back, his eyes were wet too.
"A baby," he said again, like he was testing the words. "We're having a baby."
"Are you happy?" Emma had to ask. Had to know.
"Happy?" Daniel laughed, the sound coming out choked. "Em, I'm—I don't have words. Happy doesn't cover it. I'm—Jesus, we're having a baby."
"We are." Emma was crying now too, couldn't help it. "You're going to be a dad."
"I'm going to be a dad." Daniel repeated her words, his hand pressed firmer against her stomach, like he was trying to feel something that wasn't there yet. "Holy shit. I'm going to be a dad."
"You're going to be an amazing dad," Emma said. "The best."
"I don't know about that." But Daniel was grinning now, that smile that made her fall in love with him all over again. "But I'm going to try. I think we both had great parents who will guide us. I'm going to be there for every moment. Every appointment, every midnight craving, every… everything. Thank God, I left the Marines."
Emma was glad he said that because one thing she was worried about was him resenting her for leaving the Marines the way he did.
Emma kissed him softly. "We're doing it together."
"Together," Daniel agreed. Then his eyes widened. "Wait. Eight weeks? That means—"
"Right after you got out of the hospital," Emma confirmed. "Apparently near-death experiences make you very fertile."
Daniel barked out a laugh. "Or maybe we were just celebrating being alive."
"That too."
Daniel pulled her closer, his hand still on her stomach. "A baby. Our baby. God, Em, this is—this is the best news. The absolute best. I thought today couldn't get any better, and then you tell me this."
"I'm so glad you're happy. And not angry I didn't tell you straight away."
"I'm ecstatic." Daniel kissed her forehead, her nose, her lips. "I love you so much. And I'm going to love our baby just as much. We're going to be a family."
"We already are a family," Emma said. "This just makes it a bigger family."
Daniel murmured, "Fuck, this makes you even sexier." He kissed her.
They lay there together, wrapped in each other, Daniel's hand never leaving her stomach. Emma could feel his heart beating against her back, steady and strong.
"When are you due?" Daniel asked finally.
Emma told him.
"We need to tell our families. Your parents, my parents. Grayson—"
"Actually," Emma interrupted, "there's something else I should tell you."
Daniel pulled back to look at her. "There's more?"
"Yes. You know Prue is pregnant. Well, Honey's pregnant too. And Lauren. And Maggie."
Daniel blinked. "What?"
"All of them. We're all pregnant. All due within a few months of each other." Emma couldn't help but grin at the look on his face. "I found out tonight at the reception. They were all trying not to overshadow our day, so they didn't tell me or each other. But I figured it out."
"All of you," Daniel said slowly. "All five of you are pregnant."
"Yep."
"Does Grayson know?"
"Yes, but they haven't said anything to everyone."
Daniel started to laugh. "This is insane. This is absolutely insane."
"I know."
"Our kids are going to grow up together. They're going to be best friends."
"That's what we said," Emma agreed. "Great minds think alike. I'm also worried about the trouble the boys will get into together. If we have any."
Daniel shook his head, still smiling. "I can't believe this."
"I know." Emma turned in his arms, pressed her hand to his chest. Over his heart.
"Our family," Daniel said after a moment. Then he rolled her onto her back, settled between her thighs again. "You know what this means, right?"
Emma felt heat pool low in her belly. "What?"
"We need to celebrate properly." His mouth found the side of her neck, teeth grazing. "All night long."
"Daniel, we just—"
"And we're going to do it again." His hand slid between them, fingers finding where she was still wet and sensitive. "And again. Until you can't walk tomorrow."
"That's—oh God—" Emma's words dissolved into a moan as his fingers worked their magic.
"That's what?" Daniel's voice was dark, possessive. "Tell me, Mrs. Morris. Tell me how you want your husband to fuck you."
"Hard," Emma gasped. "And please, just do it."
"Good answer."
And then there were no more words. Just the two of them, celebrating their marriage, their future, their family in the most primal way possible.
Hours later, when they were both exhausted and sated and tangled together in the sheets, Daniel's hand found Emma's stomach again.
"Hi, baby," he whispered. "It's your dad. I just found out about you, and I already love you so much. You're going to have the best mom in the world. And I'm going to do everything I can to be the dad you deserve. We're going to be so happy. All three of us."
Emma felt tears slide down her cheeks. Happy tears this time. The best kind.
"I love you," she whispered.
"I love you too." Daniel kissed her stomach gently. "Both of you."
