Wedding Not Happening

Kristen walked out of the bathroom fully dressed with no smile on her face. Frederick gave her a sad smile and she nodded at him and walked past Lucian angrily towards the door. She didn’t even bother to say goodbye to unconscious Gabby. Kristen just left in silence. Lucian turned to Frederick and shrug off his shoulders before he turned and left the ward.

The ride back to Kristen's apartment had been spent in total silence, no one spoke until they got there.

Kristen pulled her door and went inside, the apartment wasn't even locked. Yeah, she hadn't come inside after having lunch at Noami's place.

Lucian followed her inside as he wiggled his nose, he was displeased at the place. He couldn't believe that inside was that bad. To him, for a billionaire heiress like Kristen. Has she taken a look at the numbers of wealth her father left her?

"What do you want, Lucian? I'm tired. You don't need to be here."

He raised an eyebrow, "we need to talk and besides, we both are leaving today."

Kristen chuckled despite her mood and took a long stride to her room. Lucian was shocked by her reaction yet it didn't stop him from following her.

This is his first time being here and it will be his last.

When he entered her room he noticed a few things; her bedroom smelled like lavender. The walls were painted a soft gray color and decorated. There were some picture frames on her wall but the majority were empty. A few books sat on top of her desk chair, a notebook, and other random things, but nothing stood out to him more than that picture frame that depicted a girl sitting on a park bench, a picture of Kristen's younger version. Probably when she was sixteen or less.

Kristen's hair flowed beautifully down her back and covered half of her face. He wondered if she has always been this beautiful.

A tinge of guilt hit him as he saw how sad her eyes looked. He has never seen her as anything more than his source to acquire more wealth and power

Kristen closed the door softly before walking over and sitting on her bed. She had let him walk in before her.

Lucian stood awkwardly in front of her, not knowing what else to say. His hands reached into his pocket where he could feel the little box that held everything, including himself.

He slowly went down on one knee to Kristen's surprise.

"Marry me, will you?"

Kristen thought there was something wrong with the way he proposed to her. He didn't ask her to marry him, he ordered her in some kind of way, and whatever she was feeling before intensified. Her bitterness towards him grew and she stood up frantically. Her cheeks turned red.

She wanted nothing from him! Like she doesn't want anything to do with him even when there is a baby. She can't pretend to do this anymore even if her mother is saying otherwise. Whatever is left in her name can wait until she is mentally ready for anything.

She crossed her arms over her chest, her jaw clenched and her eyes narrowed, "what are you doing?"

Lucian looked shocked, he has been getting shocked by Kristen on basically everything coming from her.

"Telling you to marry me," he said in a low voice.

Kristen rolled her eyes, "I don't understand you, this minute you're this and the next minute you are that. Ish, I can't do this with you. I might have had a relationship with you but I don't have my memories of that and I just have this feeling that things aren't right. I can't marry you."

Her words sent shivers all over Lucian's body, he felt hurt, he didn't expect her to reject him like this. He had thought she would not think twice before saying yes but here she is saying a blunt no.

He didn't act in any way suspicious?

Lucian stood up and ran his hand through his hair in frustration, it caused Kristen heartache, she could see the hurt in his eyes.

"Kristen, listen. I might have given you the wrong impression. I am sorry but I am undoubtedly in love with you. I act stupid sometimes, it's because I love you and I can't bare to see you near another dude. I admit that my actions in the hospital were unruly and I apologize for them but let them not be the reason you are rejecting me now."

Lucian's words stung Kristen's heart but she tried her best to remain calm so Lucian wouldn't notice the effect he was having on her. She couldn't show any weakness right now.

She took a deep breath before answering, "I didn't say I won't marry you but not now. I need my memories back and until I get them, let's take things slowly and as for jealousy, you don't need to be jealous of Frederick. He has a girlfriend he truly loves so he can't possibly be eying me and again, if you are responsible for what happened to Gabby, please don't try it again next time."

"You are simply saying no wedding tomorrow, Kristen?"

Lucian ignored every other thing Kristen said and focused on the fact that their wedding was put on hold by Kristen. That hurts her a lot.

"Kristen..." Lucian started and tried to touch her but Kristen moved away from him, "please leave."

"You don't mean that, do you?"

"Well, I mean it. I need my space and for me to have it you have to leave me alone. I need time to think and clear my head and also understand things. I am not saying the relationship is over, just saying we both need space to breathe and I hope things work out fine between us."

Lucian nodded sadly, turned, and started to leave but stopped at the door.

"If you need your space, no problem but have it in mind. My presence around you has been a shield and I am afraid to say that if I leave you, who knows if you will live this time around."

Without waiting for a reaction from Kristen, he opened the door and walked out.
