The past part 2
The next day early in the morning, Santiago dropped by the orphanage, he took Ruth with him, he wanted to introduce her to his first home.
"Robby!" The sister exclaimed when she saw him, Santiago hugged her but not too tight, he didn't want to hurt her fragile body.
"Good morning sister, long time no see." Santiago greeted. She smiled, and her smile grew wider when she saw Ruth.
"I see this is the one who was able to capture your heart, I've been seeing you two in the newspapers and news almost every day. Either you are helping the homeless with Mr Mateo Lopez or you are attending charity events to help the poor orphans. It's nice to finally meet you in person, thank you for loving this cold-hearted boy."
Ruth smiled "It's nice meeting you too, he talks about you and this place almost all the time." Ruth smiled.
"Wait, sister, you knew who I was all along?" Santiago asked.
"Robby I was the one who raised you, I was the one who gave you the name Robert Pattinson, you shouldn't be surprised. Plus I know the kind of family that adopted you." She smiled.
"I don't even know what to say right now, I'm short of words," Santiago mumbled.
"You don't have to say anything, let's just forget about the past."
"I'd have forgotten about the past if you hadn't called me here to meet someone. Where is this person you want me to meet?"
"Be patient Robert, he will be here soon." The sister still had a smile on her face.
"You look strong, yesterday you sounded down." Santiago stared at her suspiciously.
"I had to pretend to be ill, I Know you wouldn't come here if I had asked nicely. I had to lie to get you down here." The sister replied.
"Of course, what should I expect from the woman who let a mafia family adopt me."
"Was that supposed to be a compliment? If yes then thank you." She laughed.
There was a knock on the door, she asked the person to come in. The moment the door was pushed open and the person walked in, Santiago stood up from his seat furiously.
"What are you doing here Mateo?” he snarled.
"I should be asking you that, I received a call from this orphanage saying they needed my help with something, I don't know what is going on here."
They all turned to the sister who looked unfazed by what was happening now. "Calm down gentlemen, and take a seat." Both of them took a seat.
"I've been watching the both of you since Robert revealed his true identity, I see that you are no longer on good terms. I wanted to talk to you about something even though it goes against the orphanage policy." She mumbled.
"What are you trying to say, Sister?" Santiago asked through gritted teeth, he badly wanted to teach Mateo a lesson for laying his hands on Sofia and Ruth. He still hasn't forgotten about it.
"I want you two to make up, families don't fight with each other, you are supposed to be each other Allie." The sister's smile was long gone, she looked serious.
"What do you mean by that, what do you mean by family?" Santiago asked.
"Robby after you were adopted, your parents came to the orphanage to get you back, but I couldn't disclose who adopted you. Your mom came with your father and twin brother. Your mom didn't mean to leave you here, she had no choice but to drop here because she couldn't take care of you and your twin brother, but when things got better she came back for you."
"You should know that your twin brother was excited to meet you but he left this place disappointed that day because you were no longer here."
"Don't tell me he is the same person my parents came here for years ago?" Mateo asked.
Ruth sat with her mouth wide open, this wasn't what she was expecting to hear. Who would have thought that these two enemies were brothers?
"I know should have told you soonest, and I'm sorry for not telling you on time. But look you two are united again, why don't you put your differences aside and become allies?" The sister asked. "It breaks my heart to see you two always fighting with each other every day."
Santiago just sat there, he hadn't uttered a word since the revelation, he was still trying to process what he just heard. The sister noticed his silence.
"Robby dear, please say something, don't just sit quietly like this." The sister begged.
"Like I once told you before sister, I don't want anything to do with the family that abandoned me. And finding out that he is my brother doesn't change my feelings towards him, instead, I'm angrier than I used to be because the woman who was supposed to be my mother chose him over me."
"He had the chance to experience her love but I didn't have the chance, I was tossed to a side like an object. I'm sorry to disappoint you sister but this introduction changes nothing." He stood up.
"It was nice meeting you again sister, please call me in case of anything but right now, I have to leave." He took hold of Ruth's hand and they both left the orphanage.
The sister turned to Mateo, "It's up to you to make peace with your brother, don't let this problem you two have drag on."
"Just as he said, this doesn't change anything between us, we are still going to remain enemies. Thank you for revealing the truth but right now the truth isn't much of a big help." Mateo replied.
"Mateo you can't hide what you truly feel, I remember the look you had on your face the day you came here with your parents and I saw that look again today. Deep down you are happy to have found your brother but you are letting your anger consume you which isn't good."
"Like I said, this changes nothing," Mateo muttered and left.
"Well I tried, anything that happens from now henceforth has nothing to do with me." The sister said.
