~Ch. 31~ Elf Curse
Ch. 31
As they follow the Elf through the woods. Sterling is skeptical, “It can’t be as bad as she says.”
“How do you figure?” Olivia questions him.
He informs her, “Elves live off of the land.”
Olivia’s curiosity peaked up, “How?”
Starts to tell her the tales that he’s heard, “Their homes are inside and outside the trees. The leaves are their tents. The grounds are fruitful. Elves are very magical and mystical creatures. Favored by mother nature, and loved by the goddess.”
Olivia’s heart starts to so she gets excited to see this place. They can hear everything they’re saying. She knows it will be easier for them to see their eyes.
As they enter the village, sterling eyes go wide. Olivia, gasps in horror. The trees are rotting and the homes are falling apart. The elves look scared as they come in.
Lilly announces to the others, “This is Sterling and Olivia. They are the alpha and Luna that the moon goddess had told us about.”
The other elves come running out. Hugging on their legs and thanking them for coming to help. Olivia and Sterling share glances. He can see in her eyes that she wants to help. He needs her assignment agreement.
“Did the moon Goddess mention how we break this curse?” Sterling asks.
Lily turns to him excited, “You’re going to help?”
Olivia proudly wraps her arm around him, “Of course we are!”
Sterling nods as he kisses the top of her head, “My big hearted, Luna would never let me live it down if we didn’t!”
The group starts to laugh. Lilly starts to explain, “We don’t know how to break the curse. We know who said the curse so we know who to ask about it, but if we were to go ourselves, they would truly kill us.”
Sterling pulls Olivia to the side. Whispering in her ear, “We would have to confront the witches and possibly battle them.”
Olivia can see he’s concerned. She plays a hand on his shoulder and asks, “Do you trust the moon goddess?”
He nods, but then admits, “I’d feel better if she gave us some sort of sign that this is what we are meant to do.”
Olivia kisses his cheek. Reassuring him, “Then, we will wait for a sign.
He Smiles at her, willing to take it into consideration. “I’m such a lucky alpha!” he states with a smile before kissing her softly on the lips.
She pulls away, breathless. Turning back to the group and announcing, “We are at the point in our lives, where we are only doing as the moon goddess tells us.”
They all seem to get excited at the sound of this. She continues, “We are going to wait until she gives us a sign.”
Some of them seem to feel saddened by this. She lifts a hand to calm them. Reassuring them, “It's almost night time and that’s when she speaks to us. Until then, I would love the chance to get to know you guys a little bit better?”
“It’s almost dinner time!” Lily announces.”Let me take you to where you will be sleeping for the night!”
Sterling takes Olivia’s hand into his. They follow behind Lily, holding hands and smiling at each other. Lily keeps making glances at them and how cute they are. Deep down she knows that they are the ones that will rescue them.
She takes them to a secluded tree. She winks at them as she admits, “We know you are newly mated, so we wanted to give you a chance to be alone.”
She giggles at Olivia‘s blush. Winking at Sterling before she closes the door. Sterling glides to her smoothly and pull her into his arms.
“Alone, at last!” he leans down and his lips cover over hers.
Her heart starts to race as she can feel his hot breath on her cheek. His lips meet hers and they kiss passionately. His hands roam her body, and her breath becomes pitched.
They both pause the sound of the moon, his voice, “Save my people.”
They pull away and rush to the window. Looking up at the moon as she continues, “End the covenant's terror.”
Olivia and Sterling glance at each other, but quickly look back at the moon and she continues, “Save one, you’ll save them all!”
“What does that mean?” Sterling asks about the moon goddess is gone.
He starts to pace around the room, “What does that mean?”
Olivia’s racking her brain, “Does it mean that by saving the elves that we will be saving other races as well?”
Sterling shakes his head, “That doesn’t feel right.” he scratches his chin with his fingers.
Lily knocks on the door, “It’s dinner time!”
They join her for dinner, but Sterling can’t stop thinking about what the moon goddess said. He plays with his food with his fork. The others are now looking at him, but he doesn’t realize it.
He just keeps whispering to himself, “Save one, save them all.”
An older elf brushes to his side, “What are you saying?” She sounds like she’s asking a question but there’s a lot of excitement in her voice.
Sterling explains, “The moon Goddess said, ‘When you save one, then you save them all.”
“The Starbloom.” She whispers. Everyone around the tables starts to whisper.
Olivia asks, “What’s a Starbloom?”
The elf uses her magic to make a book appear. She said sit down in front of Sterling. Olivia leans in and reads her head along with him.
He reads, “Starbloom, is the witch elf. She has the power to create everlasting crops. When she is not safe, nature will die.”
Olivia gasps, “Will this affect the whole world!”
Lilly is now worried, “Yes, but that means that they are not just declaring more against us. They are trying to control and kill the crops!”
Sterling closes the book and hands it back to the elf. “Thank you!” he says to her.
He turns to the group is a whole, “We will help!”
Everyone gets excited and starts to cheer.
