Chapter 309
Anna’s POV:
Let me through,” I demanded.
Richard sobbed pathetically. Please! I just wanted to talk to you! I meant no harm!
Blake emerged from the house, his expression thunderous. ‘Anna! He rushed to my side, pulling me protectively behind him. Are you hurt? Did he touch you?
I shook my head and deliberately stepped away. “I’m fine.”
“Anna, Anna!” Richard wailed. “I know was wrong! Please ask Blake to have mercy! My family–my children–they’ll have nothing if you destroy ust
I felt a sharp pain at the mention of children. Nora didn’t have a father either… or at least, she didn’t until recently.
Blake kicked Richard’s jaw. “I brought you here to clean up your family’s mess, not to bother my wife!”
“Blake, what are you planning to do with him?” I asked. “Freeze his assets?”
A small smile played at Blake’s lips. “If that’s what you want, sure.”
I shook my head. “I’ll handle this myself.”
I’ve been too forgiving for too long, I thought. Some threats need to be eliminated completely.
I stepped forward, stopping directly in front of Richard. “Do you remember what I told you before?”
Richard trembled. “Anna, please… it wasn’t me. It was that woman who-
“Which woman?” Blake interrupted sharply.
I brought my stiletto heel down on Richard’s mouth. “Blake, I said I’d handle this.”
I can’t be sure he’d side with me against Claire, I thought. Not yet.
I crouched down. “Listen carefully. I won’t just ruin you–I’ll destroy her too. And don’t think any lawyer in Boston will take your case. Anyone who does will
be declaring war on both Blue Wave Technologies and EcoMarine Group.” I nodded to the guards. “Let him go.”
I turned and walked toward my car. Before I could reach it, Blake wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, lifting me off the ground.
“Put me down, Blake!” I demanded.
Blake turned me to face him, supporting my weight against his chest, positioning my legs around his waist.
“Don’t go,” he pleaded softly. “Please?”
“This is inappropriate,” I hissed.
“At least let me drive you,” Blake persisted. “Wherever you’re going, I’ll take you.”
“No,” I said firmly. “We’re divorced, Blake. Forcibly holding me is a crime. I could charge you with sexual harassment!”
Blake’s arms loosened, allowing me to break free. I quickly made my way to my car where Daniel waited.
As we drove away, Blake stood alone, kicking at the grass with frustration.

“I could freeze his assets instead, Blate interjected.
I shook my head. I’m not looking for a quick end. This needs to be a lesson for others.
When our food arrived, I noticed it wasn’t what I’d ordered.
I changed your order,” Blake admitted. The doctor said your first meal after waking up shouldn’t be too greary.
Throughout the meal, Blake kept putting food on my plate. “Blake, I have hands,” I finally snapped.
The doctor said you’re weak. You need to eat more.”
I stared at him, struck by the role reversal. This was exactly what I used to do for him.
When we finished, I asked Daniel to take me to EcoMarine Group.
Blake intercepted us.
“Can’t you spare me half an hour?” he asked desperately. “Just thirty minutes to talk?”
“I need to pick up Nora later,” I replied.
“I saved your life,” Blake said quietly. “Doesn’t that earn me one condition? If we can resolve what’s between us, is there any chance we could be together again?”
“That’s a difficult condition.”
I’m still asking.”
“Fine. Let’s start from the beginning, Blake. When we first got married, why were you rarely home? Why were you so cold to me?”
Blake’s confidence faltered. “That was so long ago… I’m sorry.”
I slipped into the car. “That’s okay. You can find me when you’ve figured out your answer.”
Those four years might have been happy, I thought, but that didn’t mean I didn’t deserve an explanation.
Daniel broke the silence. “He seems sincere, Ms. Anderson. Maybe you should give him another chance.”
Maybe I was running away. Maybe what I felt when he saved me was just hero worship. Old feelings without new love would eventually burn out,
At EcoMarine Group, I met with Emily to sign share transfer documents.
“I need you to announce that I’ve resigned,” I explained. “It’s temporary, but necessary.”

“He ended things quickly, Emily said with forced casualness. But honestly, relationships mean nothing to me!
I could see through the brave front. I’d been so caught up in my own problems, I’d neglected her.
Back in the car, my phone began buzzing. Opening social media, I found explicit photos of Claire and Frank had been leaked online–Claire looking entranced in his arms while Frank’s eyes remained cold and calculating.
Commenters were crucifying Claire as a “homewrecker, connecting her to Richard and creating a double scandal.
My lips curved into a slight smile, though my eyes reflected more complex emotions.
“Did you arrange this, Ms. Anderson?” Daniel asked carefully.
I shook my head. “No, but I can’t say I’m surprised.”
Everything I went through, Claire would experience bit by bit. The difference was… no one was coming to save her.
