Chapter 255
Anna’s POV:
Blake was prepared, having brought several bodyguards. Within seconds, Blake’s men surrounded Ethan, who fought back despite being severely
outnumbered.
I watched numbly as the scene unfolded before me. Emily stood nearby, her hands clenched anxiously as she kept her eyes fixed on Ethan. Their relationship seemed good. At least better than mine with Blake.
This needs to stop, Blake said, stepping closer to me. “If this continues, he’ll be seriously hurt. We need to talk, but at home.”
I Instinctively backed away from him. His jaw tightened as he slammed his fist against the wall.
“We’ll discuss this when we get back,” he demanded, his voice barely controlled.
Across the room, Ethan was surrounded by multiple bodyguards. Though he tried to protect his head with his arms, one particularly brutal blow to his side made him groan in pain.
“If you’re so tough, just kill us today,” Emily shouted at Blake, her eyes blazing. “Otherwise, you won’t be keeping any of us!”
“Don’t worry about me, Anna,” Ethan called out, forcing a smile despite kid!”

Seth rushed in from inside, his expression frantic. “Anna, I’m calling backup right now.”
I stared at him, suddenly feeling like I was looking at a stranger. More people would only attract media attention, turning this ugly scene into tomorrow’s headlines.
“No need,” I said, my voice hollow. “Blake, I’ll go with you.”
Seth looked at me in disbelief. ‘Anna, after all these years between us… you still can’t forgive me? He hurt you too, but you’d rather leave with him than let me help?”
не
Blake’s mood visibly improved. He ignored everyone else–even Claire, who stood watching silently from the corner.
The next thing I knew, we were walking through the exit, his arm firmly wrapped around my waist as if afraid I might change my mind. The cold air hit my face as we stepped outside, a stark contrast to the heated tension we’d left behind.
In the car, Blake pulled me into his arms. I felt pathetic as I closed my eyes, hating how my body responded to his warmth.
Once inside, he kissed my forehead, my eyes, wiping away tears I hadn’t realized were falling.
I was exhausted. Everything had come full circle, as if the past weeks had never happened.
“Anna, you should be happy,” he whispered. “We were never really apart. You’ve always been my wife.”
He gently stroked my hair. “Let’s have another child. Not for my father, but for us. Just for us, a child born from our love…”
I laughed, a broken sound that surprised even mé.
“Do you know how much I suffered during my pregnancy? All those injections, all that medication.” My voice grew sharper. ‘And the psychological tor from you, your precious sister, and your father.”
I looked directly into his eyes. “I hate you so much. How could I possibly have your child? I wish you’d all just die.”
Blake stiffened, his hands growing cold against my skin. “Anna, don’t say that.”
I smiled through my tears and continued, “I dream about our baby sometimes. In my dreams, I hear crying but can never reach him in time. His body becomes transparent. Then his tiny heart stops beating. I paused, studying Blake’s face. “Have you ever dreamed about our child?“”

When he shook his head, I whispered, ‘Maybe our baby can’t forgive you either.”
Blake’s POV:
“Stop, I interrupted, my voice breaking with grief. “It wasn’t my fault… I didn’t do anything…”
I couldn’t accept the responsibility for losing someone i loved. I truly believed I was innocent–if I’d known about Anna’s pregnancy, I would have taken better care of her.
The car slowed as we hit traffic, the lights glimmering through the windows, My arms never loosened around Anna, as if letting go would mean losing her again. I steadied my breathing as I composed myself, but my heart was still racing against her shoulder.
I held her tightly, convinced that having another child would make us a family again.
Anna’s POV:
We drove through the glittering streets in silence, the tension between us thick enough to cut with a knife.
By the time we arrived at the hotel, my body ached from the sex we had, each bruise and scrape making itself known with renewed intensity.
Back at the hotel, I developed a fever from my injuries. After taking fever reducers, I lay in bed, drifting in and out of consciousness. Blake sat beside me in the darkness.
Later, Blake’s assistant knocked and entered. “Sir, about tomorrow’s return…”
Blake stroked my head gently, the light shifting in his eyes. “We’re not leaving tomorrow.”
“But… the hospital called about your father…”
“I’ll explain to him personally,” Blake replied firmly.
After a pause, he suddenly asked, “Any news from Seth’s side?”

The assistant replied tonelessly, “They exchanged vows, embraced, kissed for several seconds. The ceremony
The night dragged on endlessly. My fever came and went in waves, leaving me drenched in sweat then shivering
with cold.
Blake remained a constant presence, sometimes just a shadow in the darkened room, sometimes a gentle hand replacing the cool cloth on my forehead.
Due to my illness, our return to Boston was postponed. Blake wasn’t able to spend all his time with me–he was overwhelmed handling the mess from his previous collaboration with Isabelle’s company.
We couldn’t make it back for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day with William. Blake arranged for Claire to return to Boston first.
Before leaving, she deliberately came to my room and woke me from my feverish sleep. Like a fanged demon, she stared at me with malice.
Her hostility had intensified since learning Blake and I had never divorced.
She whispered in my ear, “Anna, Seth is having a hard time. Blakey keeps targeting him for some reason. It’s getting unbearable. He won’t listen to me, but he might listen to you. Get better soon and talk to him. After all, he practically watched Seth grow up–surely he still cares about their friendship…”
In bed, I had recurring nightmares. Seth stood at the edge of a cliff while Blake smiled at him. With each step Blake took forward, Seth stepped bar small stones falling from beneath his feet.
“No! No!” I screamed in my dream. The next moment, Seth fell backward, crashing to the ground before my eyes, shattering into pieces…
I woke gasping, grabbed the trash can by the bed, and vomited. Cold sweat broke out across my body as I trembled uncontrollably.
A large hand suddenly touched my back, “Why are you sweating so much?”

Blake moved in front of me, wiping my face with a tissue. Had a nightmare?”
I looked up at him and froze when I met his eyes empty.
