Chapter 243
Anna’s POV:
I found Blake standing alone in the backyard of Seaside Manor, a thin layer of snow sett
on his shoulders and hair.
It was the busiest time of year, yet here he was, staring off into the distance at nothing in particular. His gaze seemed both focused and empty at the e time.
“Blake, 1 called softly, afraid that if I didn’t, he might freeze and become one with winter itself.
I needed to tell him about attending Seth’s wedding abroad before Christmas. I’d already prepared myself for his objection.
He turned, his face as cold as a frozen lake. The contours of his features
meared gentle on the surface but concealed an underlying chill.
When his eyes locked with mine, his expression gradually softened.
“Come here,” he said.
Blake pulled me into his coat. He leaned down close, snowflakes landing on his eyelashes. He nuzzled my nose with his, as urging me for something.
I remembered a line I’d once written in an Instagram post: “I want to tackle him in the snow, roll–around with him, and kiss him. Was this a coincidence? Trying to please him, I stood on my tiptoes and kissed him.
In that moment, I lost my balance. Blake fell backward, his coat sending snowflakes flying

What started as romantic quickly turned comical. He reached out to smooth my disheveled hair.
“It’s so cold, let me up!” I struggled to get up, but Blake wouldn’t let me. His husky voice whispered in my ear, “I won’t let you get cold.*
He held me tightly, keeping me from touching the ground, shielding me from the cold wind. We kissed, our brief moment of intimacy interrupted by my
sneeze.
Blake carried me inside and brought me to the bathroom.
“Take a shower. I have a gift for you when you come out.”
He seemed in a good mood. I hadn’t found the chance to tell him about my trip yet. I sneezed again.
“You go shower, I’ll make you some hot cocoa.”
I nodded. “Don’t rush. You should use the guest bathroom too. It’s almost Christmas–don’t get sick.”
Blake shook his head, his face serene. “I’m fine.”
After my hot shower, I found hot cocoa waiting outside the bathroom door. Mug in hand, I went looking for Blake in his study.
I found him on the sofa, eyes closed, frowning with his hand supporting his head. When he saw me enter, he smiled gently.
‘Come here, I have a surprise.”
I handed him the cocoa, gesturing for him to drink it. Internally, I wasn’t expecting much from his “surprise“-probably just a Christmas gift.
Blake pulled me onto his lap. He took a sip of hot cocoa and passed it to me.with a kiss
‘I’ve wanted to get BlueWave Technologies shares back for you for a while. My father’s situation has had me overwhelmed lately. What do you think? Do you like it?‘
The study fell quiet except for the sound of contract papers being turned. R.,

This is the second time you’ve helped me. I thought.
I felt happy and surprised. I’d assumed Blake’s preemptive move was to gain leverage over me. I never expected him in place Blueline Lette my hands with no strings attached.
Where do you plan to focus your work efforts going forward?” Blake asked.

“When you’re old?” I repeated/
The phrase seemed too distant, too beautiful.
Such lovely words wouldn’t apply to Blake and me. I predicted that after confidence I’d be there to grow old with him.

“After Christmas, I need to go out of town for a project presentation, I finally told him.
“I don’t want you traveling so much. Being my wife shouldn’t be that exhausting.”
I shook my head helplessly. I wasn’t his wife–just a tool he kept around to bear children.
I lowered my eyes and raised the pen to sign.
‘Don’t you want to check the contract more carefully?” Blake asked.
“Why wouldn’t I trust a contract from you? If there were real issues, you wouldn’t have given BlueWave back to me in the first place.”
I genuinely believed in Blake’s character. He wouldn’t try to
trip me up.
The corner of his lips curled upward. As I bent my head to sign, his eyes grew dark and intense.
I stood up, ready to call Daniel and share the good news.
Blake caught my wrist, leaning back in his leather chair/watching me silently.
Understanding his meaning, I leaned down and kissed his cheek.
“Guard what’s yours,” he said,
He released my hand.
I waved the documents at him, smiled in acknowledgment, and excitedly ran out.
If I had run more slowly, I might have heard what he said next:
“I’ve given BlueWaye back to you. Why can’t you just stay in Boston and be Mrs. Wright?”
