Chapter 225
Blake’s POV:
*I’m looking to venture into new investment territories, paving the way for my wife. But my contract with Scarlett has already ended, I said with a smile to the guests around us, champagne flutes catching the light as servers moved between tables,
As I spoke, I held Anna’s hand under the table, looking at her with genuine warmth in my eyes, I could see the doubt in her gaze, but I also noticed how she softened a bit at my tenderness.
Scarlett’s face had gone ghostly pale, but I couldn’t care less. The guests continued praising how well I treated my employees, saying Scarlett had built a successful career and I hadn’t let her down.
Looking at Anna’s profile, I felt something stir inside me.
I had carefully chosen this setting, knowing Anna couldn’t turn me down in front of everyone. Her gradually relaxing expression gave me hope. This was part of my plan to win her back.
Later, as conversations flowed around us, I leaned closer to Anna, my breath hot against her ear.
Anna, want to get some air? If we stay any longer, your husband might drink too much,” I whispered.
I noticed her slight shiver and knew my proximity still affected her.
Outside the restaurant, I held Anna’s hand as we walked through the cool evening air I called for the driver to bring the car around while contemplating my
next move.
Then I made an impulsive decision. Instead of getting in the car, I gently pressed Anna against the door and kissed her. I felt her cautiously responding, reminiscent of our first meeting years ago. I deepened the kiss, trying to express what words couldn’t.
Suddenly, I tasted salt and realized Anna was crying.
“Why are you crying? Did I do something wrong?” I asked softly, worried I’d been too forward.
“Thanks for letting me experience what it feels like to be the favorite,” she said, her words hitting me hard.
“That’s enough. There are no reporters around, you don’t need to keep up the act,” she added.
“You think I’m acting?” I asked in disbelief, hurt but understanding this was the result of my past actions.
‘I could have handled today without you. Just don’t do this kind of thing anymore. I might get the wrong idea!” Her honesty gave me a glimmer of hope.
Her words struck me to the core. I realized how deeply I’d hurt her in the past. Looking at the tears in her eyes, I knew winning her back wouldn’t be easy.
When Anna tried to leave, saying she’d go back to EcoMarine Group first and return to Sunshine Villa later, I grabbed her wrist without thinking and pulled her into my arms.
‘I want to be good to you. I’m not pretending. Can you give me another chance?” I pleaded, something I’d never done with anyone before.
‘I gave you countless chances before,” she replied coldly.
“Yes,” I admitted, shame preventing me from saying more.
Taking a deep breath, I continued, “I still want to try. Don’t reject my kindness, Anna. Even if you don’t love me anymore, I’m confident I can make you fall in love with me again.” I heard my own voice trembling.
When Anna mentioned leaving, I felt panic like never before, as if she might disappear forever. I realized I’d never been so afraid of losing someone.
Anna began expressing her doubts about my motives. “Blake, you just don’t want to step out of your comfort zone. Finding a new ‘Mrs. Wright‘ would be too much trouble. Maybe you don’t want to spend the time, maybe you don’t want to put in the effort, or maybe your father William is pressuring you…

Whatever the reason, it’s why you’re saying these things to me today.”
*Blake, let’s pretend I never heard this,‘ she finally said.
M
I swallowed hard and gripped her shoulders, perhaps too firmly.
“I can be decisive about everything else. I always know what I’m doing. But only you… you make me uncertain, I confessed with unprecedented sincerity.
Seeing the distrust in her eyes, I realized how my past behavior had wounded her.
I pulled her into my arms, feeling her slight trembling. Kissing her forehead, I whispered, “Anna, I’ve come this far. Don’t make me go back
I observed the complex emotions in her eyes: hesitation, distrust, and a hint of wavering. Her body was both tense and relaxed in my embrace, and this contradiction gave me hope.
Finally, Anna looked down and said, “Blake, give me some time.”
As she turned to leave, I wanted to follow but restrained myself. I watched intently as she stood across the street hailing a taxi, the evening traffic flowing between us.
That’s when I heard it–the sharp screech of tires and the roar of an accelerating engine. I saw a black sedan speeding around the corner, heading straight for Anna at the curb.
My blood froze, muscles tensed, and I screamed at the top of my lungs: “ANNA!”
