Chapter 221
Anna’s POV:
“If things had never happened the way they did, I would have been touched by now, but now… It’s too late? The thought crossed my mind as I gazed into Blake’s eyes, which were uncharacteristically soft and sincere.
I reached up and covered those blue eyes with my palm, then leaned forward to place a gentle kiss on his lips.
I quickly composed myself, making sure my expression revealed nothing of my inner turmoil.
“Just the two of us. It’s nice,” I said, echoing his sentiment while my heart maintained its careful distance.
“Let’s eat, Blake replied. “Afterward, I’ll take you shopp
“You could just have them delivered, I countered. “Besides,
clothes.”
already prepared so many clothes for me, I don’t need anything new.
Blake pressed his index finger against my lips, silencing my protest. won’t take much of your time. Rather than having clothes sent over, I’d prefer to go shopping with you.”
‘I made plans with Daniel. I have work, Blake.” I tried again to maintain the boundary, hoping to preserve our separate spaces.
“Don’t refuse me.” He pulled me into his arms, nuzzling my cheek affectionately. “I’ve cleared my schedule today to be with you. Clear yours to be with me, OK?”
When Blake genuinely wanted to be good to someone, he was flawless. But the more perfect he was, the more burdened I felt.
Eventually, I reluctantly agreed, though my mind was elsewhere: I wish we both had our own lives without interfering too much with each other. I have so much to do.
The shopping trip wasn’t what I expected. Despite claiming he wanted to buy clothes for me, Blake kept leading me through the men’s department, picking out casual styles he would normally never consider.
“You look good in anything,” I said as he held up yet another shirt, “but all your clothes are custom–made. Do you really want to buy these?*
‘If you say they look good, then I’ll buy them,” he replied simply.
The sales associate jumped in: ‘Mrs. Wright is right, sir. You’re like a walking clothes hanger–everything looks good on you. Madam, since Mr. Wright likes these too, why not buy them for him to wear just for you?”
‘I could wear nothing under my suit,” Blake suggested with a hint of mischief.
“You won’t wear them,” I pointed out practically. “These brands aren’t appropriate for your work environment. They’re not formal enough.”
Ill wear them in private,” he countered. “You can help me organize my closet. You haven’t done that for me in a long time.”
The comment triggered memories I’d been suppressing.
I remembered the period when I competed with Claire for Blake’s attention, how I’d half–heartedly arranged his clothes without any real feeling behind it.
My mood plummeted. “Fine. Let’s buy them all. Pack everything up, I told the associate, no longer interested in continuing this charade.
In the car on the way home, Blake cornered me, his eyes intense.
“Went shopping today. Every piece in the men’s department looks like it was tailored just for him. He would look so good in them!” he quoted, watching me closely.
I blinked, confused for a moment before recognizing my own words.

Chapter 221
You don’t remember what you wrote? Disappointment darkened his features,
I realized then what he was quoting–my old Instagram post. My personal diary of sorts, where I’d once poured out my feelings for him.
I used Instagram as a diary, 4 murmured. “I wrote so many things. I can’t guarantee 1 memorized every post word for word, but once ended, I kane tec most of it.
Yet Blake had quoted me verbatim, without missing a single word.”
He leaned closer until our breaths mingled. I turned away, avoiding his gaze.
“The account and password are yours,” I said. “The password is… your birthday. Don’t get the wrong idea–I was just too lazy to change it since I don’t use the account anymore.”
Blake turned my face back toward him. “If you hadn’t explained, I could have been happy until tomorrow morning.!
“The past is gone,” I said plainly. “I cleared the Instagram account a long time ago. You can check for yourself–I’ve given you the login details.”
Blake’s expression shifted from shock to agitation, his voice trembling. “Who told you to delete everything?!”
After a brief silence, I answered quietly: “You did.”
You were the one who had someone unearth my “diary‘ and expose it to the public. My love for you wasn’t shameful, but I didn’t want to share it with strangers. Loving you was my private secret.
Blake’s face turned ashen.
I touched his cheek gently. “Blake, I just don’t want to dwell in the past anymore.“/
At Sunshine Villa, Blake opened the window, taking deep breaths as the cold wind ruffled his hair. When my face grew numb from the chill, he embraced me from behind, one hand around my waist, the other on my shoulder.
“The celebration dinner,” he said suddenly. “I’ll go with you?”
‘I never told you I was going,” I replied, surprised.
He bit my earlobe in mild displeasure. “You and Scarlett generated enough attention in the first episode. If the organizers have a functioning brain, they would definitely invite you.”
“You want to see us fight?” I teased.
‘I’ll help you beat her up,” he offered.
“Would you really?” I challenged.
Blake chuckled softly.
Poor Scarlett. Wining Blake’s heart is so difficult. He divides his heart into pieces, showing affection only when the mood strikes him.
At home, Blake eagerly pulled me to choose formal wear–all matching couple outfits. Finding them too flashy, I selected a black strapless gown with a white shawl and pearl accessories.
As Blake helped zip me up, his phone rang. He answered on speakerphone–it was the new housekeeper from Seaside Manor.
There had never been a live–in housekeeper at the manor before. Martha only handled the cleaning and cooking. When her shift ended, she went back to her own home. Blake had hired one specifically because he worried Claire couldn’t take care of herself properly.
While asking about Claire’s condition, he continued adjusting the hem of my dress. I turned and pulled up the zipper myself, watching him.
He’s this thorough with everyone.
