Chapter 199
Anna’s POV:
Seth held up three fingers and swore, his expression pleading. I ignored his puppy dog eyes and shook my head firmly. I didn’t want him making deckone he’d regret later.
Five days then?” he asked.
1 remained silent.
“Three days, no less, Anna.”
His expression shifted to something more serious. “No matter what you say, I can’t let you swallow this anger on your own. Stop trying to talk me out of it. You’re the only woman I’ve ever truly cared about in my life. If I can’t protect you, what kind of man am 1?”
Any argument I had prepared was silenced by the determination in his eyes. All I could ask was, ‘What are you planning to do?”
“You don’t need to know, but I promise the results will make him choke on his own blood!”
His eyes turned fierce. “I need to show my father what a huge loss it’ll be without me. His golden child isn’t so perfect after all!*
“You’re not going to kill anyone, are you?” My face must have turned pale with worry. was genuinely afraid Seth might do something extreme.
…They’re my brother and my father. Of course I’m not going to kill anyone. I’ll just make them lose some money.”
“Good. As long as you know your limits.”
“Anyway, I’ll transfer some money to you later. When you get to New York, buy whatever furniture you like. Just have it delivered to the apartment. We can rearrange everything after I arrive. I’ll handle all the heavy lifting from now on. Can’t let my babe get tired, right?”
That “babe came out of nowhere. I felt my cheeks warm as I asked, “What did you just call me?”
Seth winked mischievously. ‘I called you ‘my babe‘!”
He kept calling me “babe” over and over, which was embarrassing, but the anxiety that had been clutching at my chest for days finally eased under his
infectious charm.
When it was time to hang up, Seth seemed reluctant. “This feels like a dream. I can’t wait to see you in three days.”
I nodded, smiling at him. “I’m looking forward to it too.”
“Though by then, I’ll just be a rich kid with nothing to my name. Will you mind that I have nothing but money?”
‘It sounds like you’re just bragging about being rich.”
Seth laughed. “Haha, well, our family does have some assets. I’ve saved quite a bit over the years. I just don’t want you thinking I’m poor. I’m already looking. at businesses in the area. Once we’re settled, I’ll talk to some friends about investments. I’ll make money, don’t worry. Taking care of you won’t be a
problem.
‘I’ll be earning money too,‘ I said seriously.
Seth grinned. “Wow, my babe is so capable.”
I spat out a laugh and hung up on him.
Later that night, I calculated the days and realized Emily should be returning to Boston tomorrow after her trip.
I left a message for Daniel to report to EcoMarine Group and find Emily after his celebration party ended tomorrow.

Chapter 199
I also messaged Emily, telling her about my plans to settle in New York with Seth.
1 expected her to call immediately and tease me about having a new boyfriend without telling her first, but after waiting a long time, she still hadn’t responded.
I couldn’t help worrying, but figured she must be busy. I left her another message asking her to help arrange Daniel’s work until i got settled in New York and could bring him over.
Not wanting to stay alone in the dark hotel room, I booked a train ticket to New York for that night…
The next morning, I followed the address Seth had sent me to visit the new apartment he’d bought. I felt like I was opening a surprise gift.
The morning sunlight was streaming across the wooden floors when the housekeeper showed me around, highlighting their natural, beautiful grain.
The apartment had the urban cozy vibe I loved, fully equipped with appliances. It just needed some soft furnishings to make it feel like home:
I video called Seth to share my excitement about the place.
I’ll set up a payment account for you,” he said. “So you can buy whatever decorations you want.”
I accepted his generosity, knowing it was pocket change for him, and it would give him peace of mind.
Though Seth looked tired, he still smiled, happy that I liked the apartment.
“Can I kiss you when I see you?” he asked playfully.
I agreed, telling him I was looking forward to his arrival.
It felt good to be cherished. I was excited about our new life together.
That afternoon, I asked the housekeeper to arrange for cleaning services.
Then I took a cab to a local furniture store to shop for our new space.
I thought about how our lives were changing: I would no longer be “Mrs. Wright” with all that status, but just a regular woman working hard. And Seth would no longer be the Price family heir, but just an ordinary young man starting his own business.
The next day, I wore a delicate white dress under my thick coat and let my hair flow loose. I wanted to look nice when I picked up Seth at the airport.
When I arrived, the weather suddenly changed. The blue sky disappeared behind heavy clouds, and strong winds began to blow, signaling an approaching
storm.
Without warning, I felt a sharp pain in my chest. It was so intense I had to crouch down, unable to straighten up. Tears involuntarily filled my amber eyes.
A kind passerby asked if I needed an ambulance, but I shook my head.
Then Daniel called, saying he’d been waiting at EcoMarine Group for three days, but Emily still hadn’t returned.
That’s when I realized how strange it was that Emily hadn’t responded to my messages.
I started to feel uneasy. It was completely unlike Emily, the biggest gossip I knew, not to react to the news that Seth and I were together.
Something was wrong.
