Prologue

I never believed in serendipity until I met him. It was one of those chance encounters that you hear about, but never think will happen to you. I was out on my friend's yacht, enjoying the warm summer breeze and the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean. We had been out on the open sea for hours, basking in the sun and drinking champagne.

Suddenly, an argument broke out over Twitter. My friend had gotten into a heated exchange with some stranger online, and things were getting out of hand. I tried to calm her down, but she was too worked up.

"You can't just sit back and let people talk about you like that," she fumed, pacing back and forth on the deck. "You have to stand up for yourself."

I sighed, rolling my eyes. "It's just Twitter, Katie. It's not worth getting this upset over."

But she wasn't listening. She grabbed her phone and stormed off, leaving me alone on the deck. I leaned against the railing and gazed out at the vast expanse of water before me, lost in thought.

That's when I saw him. He was on a small boat, a few hundred yards away, and he seemed to be in trouble. His boat was taking on water, and he was struggling to keep it afloat. Without hesitation, I jumped into action.

I raced back to the controls of our yacht and revved the engines, heading straight for him. As I got closer, I could see the panic on his face. He was a handsome young man, with piercing blue eyes and a chiseled jawline.

"Hold on!" I shouted, extending a hand to help him aboard.

He grabbed my hand, and I pulled him to safety. As he collapsed onto the deck, panting and exhausted, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude wash over me. It was as if the universe had brought us together for a reason.

"Thank you," he gasped, looking up at me with those piercing blue eyes. "You saved my life."

And with those words, our story began.
