CHAPTER 41
CHAPTER 41
We were silent for a long while, as Chloe kept pacing the room. I almost asked her to stop, as the movement was beginning to irritate me. Also, I was worried about her health, she was too careless when it came to taking care of herself and I thought of ways how to put a restless and stubborn wife on bed rest, it was near impossible!
"So, what do we do now?!"
"There is no much help for her here, we need to get her into a hospital immediately!" Lily said.
Chloe turned to give her a once over, running her gaze rudely over her body, then she snubbed her. "Titus, it's you I was talking to, what do we do?"
Titus sighed, rolling his eyes at my dramatic wife. "Just what the Beta queen has said, it would be best if she received medical attention," he replied calmly.
With that, she started throwing orders around, asking that everyone to prepare to leave. I sat back watching her, as she tried to save the life of her relative who had never given a fig about her. I had no idea what it was that she wanted from now the lady, but we would find out sooner, I hoped.
Home!
Chloe did the bamboo method again but this time, she went two turns, as we all could not touch the stick. I decided to follow her for both rounds, in order to keep an eye on her. Now we were closer to home, our weapons once more hidden.
“What do we now?”
I turned when she asked me that very question. I searched her face to try to see if I would get a clue as to what she was about to ask, but her face was bare, bewitching green orbs threatening to draw me in. “What do you me?” I resigned and asked.
“About my aunt,” she said.
“What about her?”
“Where do we keep her?”
“Definitely not in my house,” I deadpanned, increasing my steps as I moved away from her. I turned to look at the said aunt who was in Titus's arms. He had been holding on to her since then and not letting anyone even touch her. I noticed how he periodically stared at her, not leaving out more than a few seconds before looking down at her. Who knew, just maybe she would be welcomed in his home.
I saw the large gates of my town, halting when we got close and commanded everyone to do same. “We go in fours, five minutes after the others, in order not to attract attention.” I turned to Titus, my eyes falling into the unconscious lady in his arms. Luckily, her cut had healed completely. “Titus, you can take her tothe hospital—”
“I will go too!” Chloe piped in.
“—alone.” I stated with finality. “We will see her later, when we go to check up on Lima,” I said, giving her a pointed look. I noticed how she opened her mouth to speak, but it clamped shut.
She narrowed her eyes at me, mouthing: “you dick!” Then she huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.
I ignored her, my eyes sweeping over to the rest of the group. “Start moving, the wife and I will go in last.” I ordered, grabbing on to Chloe's arm, even when she kept continued pulling out of my hold. Titus had gone past the gate and the last group we're almost close, when I turned to her. “Will you relax baby?”
“How can I,” she snapped, a deep scowl etched on her face. “When you embarrassed me in front of the everyone like that?!”
“I would not interfere, if you do not always counter my every order,” I said in a calm tone of voice, trying to keep a straight face.
She huffed. “You have got to be kidding me! That was not you interfering, that was you making a fool of me!”
“I not make a fool of you,” I gritted out, trying as hard as I could not to snap. She had started getting more annoying by the day and if it continued that way, I can't say for sure if I would be able to pair a roof with her!
“You did! You do that all the time!”
Okay...just close your eyes and take a deep breath, close your eyes and take a deep breath...do not snap, do not let her get to you, do not—
“Are you even listening to me?!”
Not my wife trying to make me run into a wall, not my wife! I walked away from her, hoping that that would be a good sign for her to understand that I was not in the mood to bicker with her, not at all!
“You never listen to me, so you?!”
I kept walking, increasing my pace.
“Hey! I am talking to you Mr big bad wolf, don't you be walking away from me!”
And she just came back from a fight, where she murdered an Alpha and his whole pack. The whining lady beside me, did not resemble the warrior I had seen earlier. She looked more like a little girl who had been deny a doll on her birthday.
“Marcus?! Marcus?!”
“What?!”
Uh..oh!
I regretted yelling in her face, when her eyes widened in disbelief, her lower lips fell and then, a sob left her. Before I could even apologize, she had tears running down her face and next thing, she was full on crying and I was left confused as passerbys turned to stare.
“Sh...,” I cooed, gently stroking her hair when she dive into my arms. “Don’t cry baby, I'm sorry for yelling at you, please stop crying,” I begged, glaring at nosy on lookers, who couldn't stop staring.
She started to lift her head off my chest and I was face to turn back to her, keeping a straight face. She sniffed, using the back of her hand to wipe off the drool from her nose. “Baby?” she muttered in a tender voice.
Shit! Deep deep shit! I knew I was in serious trouble when she made those puppy dog eyes at me. I stared at her skeptically, waiting for the horrible lines that were about to exit those little plump lips.
“Will you let my aunty stay with us?”
Double fuck!
