Chapter 19: There's No Escape

Kelly's POV

Without going to the theater as a dancer, I had plenty of time to prepare Lily for her kindergarten entrance interview.

I had no experience in this field and relied on Kate's fiancé, who gave me a thick stack of information, which I read from the beginning to the end, which gave a clear background of the kindergarten, including the kindergarten's developmental resemblance to the children.

Overall, the kindergarten was one of the best in New York, and even though I already knew I would be accepted, I continued to prepare carefully.

During the interview, Lily was very good, she answered the questions very seriously, the interviewer liked her good behavior, and when she came out, she held a toy in her hand and said happily to me, "This is a gift from the old hand to her."

"Lily is awesome, will you come here to play every day from now on?" I try to ask her, when she came for her interview today, I told her that she came to play games, since moving to New York, she is a little resistant to contact with strangers in unfamiliar environments.

I try to take her to crowded places every day to expose her more and keep her from feeling resistant.

Seeing Lily nodding happily, I gently stroked her head, "You behaved well today, mommy will reward you with an ice cream, okay?"

Hearing that there was ice cream to eat, Lily danced happily, her mouth kept saying that she wanted strawberry flavored ice cream.

During this time I didn't consider looking for a job, now I don't lack of money, I didn't have a job all these years, but took ten million dollars of principal and started to do investment and speculation, maybe I was lucky, after five years of accumulation, I watched the amount in my account become eight figures, the heart hanging in the air finally fell.

As I moved to New York, I accompanied Lily to study art and musical instruments, and I was too busy to speculate on stocks every day. At the suggestion of Kate's fiancé, I bought 70% of the shares of a technology company and agreed not to participate in the management of the company.

"Kelly, I left a document on the sofa when I came back yesterday, can you take it to the company for me? Can you take it to the office for me? I'm in a hurry for a meeting later. If it wasn't for Lily, I wouldn't have bothered you."

This morning when I sent Lily into the kindergarten gate, I received a call from Kate, "OK, don't worry, I will deliver it on time, are you sure it's on the sofa?"

"OK, it's a contract for signing later."

I put Kate's mind at ease and quickly drove home, entered the house and went straight to the living room, and sure enough I saw the contract.

"Hello, I'm here to deliver the contract to Kate." I explained to the lady at the front desk of Kate's company as I arrived.

"Ms. Kelly? Please come in ......Kate has already notified me by phone and told you to go directly to her office when you arrive." The receptionist with a smile took me into the elevator and helped me swipe the card.

Arrived Kate where to get the floor, the office area is very quiet, I did not see Kate, "I'm here, where are you?"

"Sorry, I'm with a client, give the contract to my secretary and meet me in my office." Kate lowered her voice to speak to me and I heard someone speaking in the background of the phone.

I nodded and found my secretary to give her the contract, "You tell Kate that I'll go back and leave her alone at work."

I was waiting for the elevator in the elevator room when suddenly the doors opened and I looked down at my phone to see a man in black leather shoes standing in front of me, "Sir, please move over, you're in my way ......"

I forgot to move a step to the side, the TV show I like to watch was playing on my phone, I stepped towards the elevator and the man's voice came from behind me.

"Kelly?" the man spoke in a calm voice, but there was an inexplicable anger in the calmness, as if he had been restraining himself from getting angry.

I looked up and subconsciously took two steps back, "You have the wrong person sir, goodbye ......"

Matthew's exquisitely handsome face appeared in front of my eyes, he was wearing a ground suit that was hand tailored, solid black with gold cuffs, his slender thighs looked elegant in the exquisitely tailored suit pants, his tie was striped as always, and unlike before he was wearing gold rimmed glasses today.

I blinked, I hadn't seen him in five years, my figure had changed quite a bit, and I pretended not to recognize him, hoping to confuse Matthew.

But how could Matthew let me go when he saw me.

"You guys are in full charge of the signing, just tell them that I have something temporary that I can't come in person."

He gave orders to the people around him, but his eyes never left on me, and I went weak in the knees and hands at the look he gave me, though I wasn't sure why I was like that myself.

He pulled me forward, here Kate's company, and how I didn't realize that the client Kate was talking about was Matthew.

I didn't want to draw attention to myself in a public place, I could see Matthew's serious certainty that he knew I was Kelly, and there was no way I was going to leave easily today.

I didn't resist the entire time and was eventually led into the elevator by him, the bright lights were particularly harsh in the confined and small space, the interior of the elevator was all mirrors and once I was in the elevator I was confined to a corner where Matthew couldn't move, his arms encircled me.

The elevator descends quickly and my mood falls extremely fast, Matthew's face is stony and he's breathing heavily, I can see how upset he is at the moment.

I don't understand the point of him doing this right now, the elevator is so small I'm sure I can't get away.

The elevator is quiet, the only sounds are my steady breathing and Matthew's heavy breathing.

He slowly moves closer to me, his exhaled breath spraying on my neck, tickling me a little as I reach up and push him away.

He still didn't say anything, but his body took a step back, when the elevator doors opened.

I looked out, it was the underground garage, and I didn't have time to react before Matthew led me out of the elevator and straight to his car.

The driver saw Matthew come out and respectfully opened the car door, in the moment he saw me, his face was full of surprise, but his expression was fleeting and wouldn't be noticed if he didn't look closely.

At this point, I obediently got into the car.

The car started, Matthew raised the fender and slowly spoke, "Are you ...... you doing well?"
