Accident 89

Selena watched as the woman waved her arms in excitement and cursed loudly. Suddenly, Selena interjected coldly, "If what you say is true, it makes sense. However, this matter concerns only Antonio, and whether innocent or not, he must come personally to confront our family. What does it mean for a woman with a child to be here? Why isn't the principal involved party present?"

With these words, those who were initially confused about what was happening suddenly understood. They pointed and murmured among themselves, and the neighbors knew that José's family had a flower field. Every year, they received about hundred of carts of flowers. It was rumored that the caretakers of the field were a peasant family, which before used to be their neighbors.

Apparently, they discovered that this peasant family was selling the flowers from their own field to someone else. As a result, they angrily demanded compensation, but the man of the family did not dare to show up and sent his wife with the child to cause trouble and avoid paying.

No one was foolish; upon considering the matter carefully, everything became clear as day.

Tasilla, upon hearing Selena expose her secrets in just a few words, couldn't help but feel embarrassed and angry. She rushed forward with her child, only to be stopped by the shop staff. Sitting on the ground, she cursed, "Shameless woman! Acting all noble, seducing other men everywhere. Who do you think you are? A woman who marries off is like water thrown out. You, an outsider, have the nerve to meddle here. Go to hell!"

The people around Selena were stunned. Fortunately, Selena was already married. Otherwise, such words would ruin her chances of marriage. Mariana was furious and stepped forward, hands on hips, saying, "What nonsense are you spewing, crazy woman?"

Before Mariana could finish, Selena stopped her and stepped forward, speaking loudly, "Tasilla, I initially wanted to settle this matter amicably due to our past friendship with Lucia Aunt in the countryside. I hoped you would compensate for the materials you've been selling illegally. But since you claim Antonio is innocent, let's settle this in court. I hope you'll maintain your stance there."

Though Tasilla acted like a madwoman, she wasn't truly insane. Just a peasant woman, she thought if she stood firm, the Sanchez family couldn't do much to her, especially since Mr. Jose was kind-hearted. She hadn't expected to encounter Selena, who, despite being of similar age, looked radiant while she was old and felt envious, igniting a furious anger within her, leaving her completely irrational.

At that moment, she began to feel panicked, realizing that Selena was married to a royal knight, and that Antonio had indeed been illegally selling a lot of raw materials. She trembled with fear at the thought of the potential legal consequences. However, she still tried to maintain a firm stance: "You're talking nonsense, we're not afraid of you!"

Selena was furious and wished someone would just get rid of the wicked woman. However, upon hearing the baby in the woman's arms crying uncontrollably, she hesitated for a moment. Aware that her mother could arrive at any moment and preferring to avoid any confrontation, she instructed Thomas, "Find two people to take this woman away, and then go to the police station."

"Certainly..."

Thomas turned and beckoned two shop employees, who approached and dragged Tasilla from the ground. She was so scared that she could barely resist, clinging with all her might to her child.

Just then, a carriage turned the corner and approached. José, seeing the crowd in front of his shop, urgently ordered the carriage to stop. He opened the curtain and called out, "Why is everyone gathered here? What's going on?"

"Make way, Mr. Jose is back," the crowd parted involuntarily.

"Dad..." Selena quickly signaled to Thomas to hurry up and take the woman away. Then she descended the steps and walked over. But at that moment, the two men who were dragging Tasilla were momentarily distracted by the return of their master. Tasilla seized the opportunity to break free, clutching her child as she rushed forward, shouting desperately, "Mr. Jose, Mrs. Maria, help me!"

"Madam, madam..."

Maria, seeing Tasilla charging towards her, instinctively retreated, stumbling and sitting down on the ground. "Madam, Madam bleeding!" she exclaimed.

"Mom..." Selena was too worried to think about anything else. She quickly ran to the front of the carriage. At this point, Maria was sweating profusely from the pain in her abdomen, while Jose was terrified. He didn't care about who had collided with his wife. Instead, he turned and shouted at his servants, "Quick, call the midwife and the doctor, and prepare everything needed for delivery!"

Although it was daytime, the room remained dim with the doors and windows closed. Several candles were lit for illumination. Inside, the room echoed with the sounds of painful groans, causing Jose, pacing outside, to feel increasingly uneasy. He had skipped meals from noon until now. The sounds from inside were getting weaker, and as Jose watched the servants pour out basin after basin of blood water, his heart clenched.

However, more anxious than Jose was Selena. Originally, her mother still had half a month before giving birth. Her health not had been very good, but unexpectedly, she went into labor prematurely. The newly prepared home was not ready for occupancy, so they had to make do with delivering the baby here. Due to the lack of preparation, the room had to be hastily cleaned. Probably due to the shock, her mother's condition was not good. Holding her hand, Selena could see it turning pale.

Thankfully, Jose had arranged for three midwives in advance. Two of them were older and experienced. Initially, everything went smoothly, and her mother was able to exert herself. However, when the birth canal opened and the baby's head appeared, it was discovered that the position was somewhat abnormal, causing a delay in delivery.

This situation was the most dangerous; prolonged delay could lead to grave consequences. Seeing that even the three midwives were panicking as the baby wouldn't come out, and witnessing Maria becoming increasingly weak and sweaty, with strands of hair sticking to her face, devoid of the strength she had when she was screaming earlier, even her grip on Selena's hand had weakened by half, Selena couldn't help but feel anxious and uneasy.
